AIBU?

Amazon Mistake WWYD?

Hi everyone

Last night I ordered a babygate and baby cutlery from amazon prime to be delivered today.

This morning, the cutlery arrived and so did the babygate, or so I thought. Turns out that amazon have sent me a ball pit and pack of 100 balls. No babygate.

The ball pit and balls are exactly the same as what we ordered and received some 8 months ago! I've just had an email to say that the babygate I ordered has been disbatched, no mention of the ballpit they've accidentally sent me.

AIBU to keep the ballpit and say nothing? Would you keep it or return it?

So basically you're a thief. Nice.

Amazon made a mistake, in this case it was in your favour (getting free items) in another case it might have been in theirs (taking money and not delivering). If you would contact them for a mistake in their favour you should also contact them if it is in yours.

The least you should do is contact them, if they choose to let you keep it free as goodwill then you've got a bonus, guilt free. If they want it returned and are willing to pay for it, then you've not lost anything as it wasn't your item in the first place

Anyone got any ideas of what I could do with 15 rolls of 9mm red PVC tape? Arrived this morning from Amazon - should have been tandoori marinade.... I have informed the seller!

Oh the irony of people being honest with a tax dodging company like Amazon!

But please remember that is not necessarily Amazon that she's stealing from - Amazon is just a platform for individual sellers. Most items for sale on Amazon are not actually being sold by Amazon

Maybe you should read things a bit better.

Is that why in your OP you state: "AIBU to keep the ballpit and say nothing?"

Or are you also suffering from reading comprehension of your own post?

I've not asked what I should do at all, I'm just wondering what other people would do.

You also asked if people thought you were being unreasonable to do so. Most of us think you are, so...

You really should let them know, it could be that some Amazon seller may end up out of pocket, as has been mentioned up thread.

Are you planning to sell it?

Report
LouBlue1507 · 03/08/2017 14:21

I don't see how the seller would suffer, they would claim from amazon for cocking up.. I've from amazon themselves not an individual seller.

Amazon have no proof I have actually received anything (not signed for).

No I'm not going to sell it!

I'd return it.. but I believe in karma

I think I read your post accurately.

You asked this so I'll answer it.

AIBU to keep the ballpit and say nothing?

Yes, yabu. That makes you a thief. Dress it up how you like but that's the nuts of it.

Would you keep it or return it?

Return it. Because I'm not a thief.

Sorry just read your last post.. you've clearly made up your mind.

Did you just want everyone to say it's not stealing to clear your own conscious?

sheldon Grin at your last post

It's true it's their mistake, it's a faff to return etc etc. But bottom line if you take something that doesn't belong to you, it's stealling

OP

Question for you:

Does the idea of giving it away ease your conscience? Because if so that's a lie you are telling yourself. You are still benefitting from keeping it

Report
IdentifiesAsYoda · 03/08/2017 14:37

... Unless you gave it to Charity (although they'd be receiving stolen goods). No matter what way you look at it. It's not good
