Amazon Mistake WWYD?

Hi everyone

Last night I ordered a babygate and baby cutlery from amazon prime to be delivered today.

This morning, the cutlery arrived and so did the babygate, or so I thought. Turns out that amazon have sent me a ball pit and pack of 100 balls. No babygate.

The ball pit and balls are exactly the same as what we ordered and received some 8 months ago! I've just had an email to say that the babygate I ordered has been disbatched, no mention of the ballpit they've accidentally sent me.

AIBU to keep the ballpit and say nothing? Would you keep it or return it?

Let them know its happened to organise pick up. 90% of the time they'll say keep it.

Presumably you have paid for the gate and cutlery and still need the gate so I'd tell them about their mistake or you've got no gate and a ball pool you don't need Confused

Get in touch and tell thEm. It's their mistake, give them a chance to sort it out. I don't understand why this is even in question!'

Charming.

A few times Amazon have sent me damaged stuff, and have just told me to keep it and sent me a new one too! So once got a 5 pack of honey. One was smashed. So they sent ANOTHER 5 pack - meaning I got 9 packs for the price of 5! Fingers crossed you might get a freebie too :)

I once got 4 rather expensive items rather than one (whoever packed it obviously had no idea what it was and didn't realise the there were 4 individual boxes inside the one they sent). Everyone told me I was crazy to let on and to sell them. I emailed them and they collected the extras, without so much as a bloody thanks for letting us know! Won't bother next time

The babygate has been disbatched so I don't think that'll be an issue. I think I'll keep it and either give it to next door who have a baby or one of my cousins.

We ordered a gym mat for DD the original one ordered was purple. It never turned up. Waited weeks so we got in touch with company and they could only send out a black one. Arrived next day. DD used it quite happily though missed the purple one.
A few weeks later the purple one turned up! Packaging was see-through...so we emailed company and said we wanted to keep the purple one, could we return the black one, even though it was used.
We got to keep both for the price of one and had a discount on the black one because we'd wanted purple.
Honesty is best policy.

I would definitely contact them. I'd feel uneasy otherwise.

Tell them, if by chance they bill you for both you are covered.

If you print off a return label with Amazon you have to pay postage yourself in my experience which is unfair as its their mistake and you will be out of pocket. Ring them and ask them to collect, usually they tell you to keep it anyway and if not they collect so no inconvenience or cost to you.

Speak to amazon. They have a live chat option.

I just got sent 2 bags of 15kg nuggets, I only ordered one.

They told me to keep it/dispose/donate it but there was no point returning it, then followed up with an email to me just repeating it.

Contact them to let them know but make it clear that as it was not your mistake you will not be going to any trouble in terms of returning it. It is likely that they will tell you to keep it.

I'd ask ... amazon tend to just let you keep certain items under a certain value because it's not worth them processing it. A few times o have been sent wrong things and they have told me to keep them.

However, I have also sent things back a few times. Just depends on what the tell me to do.

OP WWYD
Most pps "tell Amazon"
OP I think I'll keep it.

Even though most pps think you should tell Amazon. Why ask?

What will you do if you give it to next door and them Amazon ask you to return it?

Sounds like stealing to me

Id probably email saying Ive received it in error, and they can come to collect it on X day at X time and that is the only time I am available with 20 mins each side.

They'll probably tell you to keep it rather then them have to faff about sending a courier back out on a set day/set time.

IHateUncleJamie

Did I ask what should I do? Or what would you do?

I've not asked what I should do at all, I'm just wondering what other people would do. Maybe you should read things a bit better.
