What tape?

Leave the tape OP, you didn't put it there and can't recall who did, so many friends etc...

I would keep taping too so they can't see out past where the original window was. At least put a panel up for privacy.

I used to have a lovely stone bench in my garden, unmoveable. You need to order the biggest one you can afford and pay delivery so it can be set up in position and never moved again. Keep the receipt in case the builders try to move and break it.

The builders can probably pop the frame from the inside btw so this is all making it very clear that what they are doing is completely out of order and won't be ignored.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 13:41

Because that could just have been a planned delivery, which would have taken place regardless of the notice to stop works.

Even this is so Cake, the CFBs have been told not to do ANYRHING, internal or external.

Wattyyyy

May I suggest "We'll always have Mablethorpe as the title fro Chapter Thread 7?

Vango · 30/07/2017 13:42

Sadly I doubt it's going to be possible to restore the window to its original condition without access to the OP's garden Juicy. But they'll have to come to some arrangement with her and not just climb in whenever they like. With the planning department now onto them she's in as strong a position as she can be. We were once offered a high three figure sum for a week's access for scaffolding overhanging our back garden.

StrandedStarfish · 30/07/2017 13:43

Good morning from New Brunswick , New Jersey.

I have been following the debate on the legalities of CFNs right of escape into OPs garden in the event of a fire in their property. While they may not have a legal right, can I suggest we consider a different point of view please.

We know that CFNs builders are not the industry leaders in terms of attention to detail. There is a chance that if they are doing more work on the inside of the property that the standard may not be as high as anyone would hope, and the CFNs might be at risk of fire. If Op had prevented them leaving the property by blocking the exit, they may not be in breach of any legal duty but from a moral point of view. I not want their injuries or even worse, on my conscience.

By all means put a sign up saying no access to the garden but please don't secure the doors.

Has he just let one rip Slattern?

He has That Look.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 13:47

Beautiful dog Tatty

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 13:49

I know NSK spotted a Chinese lady but maybe she's not connected

Yeah - CFNs might have advertised a summerhouse when they realised they had no garden. She could have been round to collect it.

JuicyNectarine · 30/07/2017 13:50

Vango you are right. To replace original stonework would need both sides accessible BUT asking for access doesn't seem to be a logical next move for these people so they may need a bit of cajoling in the right direction!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 13:51

Spookle

< shocked gasp >

That's sacrilege . . .

Valentine2 · 30/07/2017 13:53

What has happened so far? The last I know of this was when the lovely friend had brought info from the shop owner around the corner and the Spanish granny was on her way not. Grin
Please please can someone summarise new developments?

Ropsleybunny · 30/07/2017 13:56

We're headed for thread 7!

Ellie56 · 30/07/2017 14:00

It must be taking OP a long time to get that tape off. Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/07/2017 14:01

suspicious behaviour right there Daily.

You read my mind Vang

LeakyLittleBoat · 30/07/2017 14:02

Awed, I tell you, just awed by this thread and the dedication of mners from far and wide re standing in solidarity with the OP. The Trello board is a thing of beauty and wonder. .

I have 3, possibly 3.5*, cats who would like to volunteer for the garden menagerie committee, they won't be much use in a fight as they will all seek to hide themselves under a blade of grass should they perceive any threat to their own safety (such as a dead leaf falling from a tree) but they do like to lounge about in a nice garden.

*I can't really speak for .5, who shall be known henceforth as Cheeky Feral Kitten or CFK (with apologies to Colonel Sanders if I have appropriated any potentially trademarked initials), he keeps breaking into our yard via an as yet undiscovered illegal hole he has made in our fence and is currently resisting arrest (though not any food I put down) so is technically not under my authority - yet. He may or may not decide to follow the other 3 (anywhere except into my house) who may or may not decide to chase him off even if he does.

ClashCityRocker · 30/07/2017 14:02

I was just thinking that it's taking her a bloody long time to get that tape off....

Pigflewpast · 30/07/2017 14:03

Woah, what have I missed about Mablethorpe? I thought I'd read every single comment on every single thread? Must have been when I was catching up in a toilet when shopping earlier!

DudeHatesHisCarryOut · 30/07/2017 14:09

Shame I'm not nearer, I'm sure my pets would lend a paw:

Cat: sit on the wall and glare into their kitchen. If anyone dared to come out they would be subject to a death of a thousand lacerations (hr speciality);

Guineas: sit on the lawn munching grass, looking innocent. But might act as guard Guineas if they were still awake when anyone came out. Their squeaks would be heard for miles around.

Rabbits: diggers extraordinaire. Whilst man-made zombie traps may not be lawful I'm not sure there are such rules about rabbit burrows. I almost broke my ankle falling into one in the garden the other night so I know how lethal they can be. I know have five adult rabbits, all of whom like a bit of digging. I'm sure they could be persuaded to dig right by the patio doors for some cabbage and carrot tops!

Vango · 30/07/2017 14:09

Serves you right for going to the toilet Pig......I mean, honestly...was there really any need? Grin

WhatIsThisWatt · 30/07/2017 14:10

Hi guys! I've not even tried to get the tape off yet - NNDN was outside fixing something in his car and I went out to say hi Grin

Ended up out there for ages gossiping chatting. I filled him in on everything, he's going to keep an eye out for me.

He also knows Ken from the shop quite well apparently so we've got a little team going on here! I just need someone to watch from above now Grin

WHAT WILL I CALL THE NEW THREAD?? I think pp suggested something but I can't find it.

Myshitdontstink · 30/07/2017 14:11

Place marking for the next thread! Gripping stuff!

ClashCityRocker · 30/07/2017 14:11

No sign of anyone then?

walkinganhouraday · 30/07/2017 14:12

You haven't missed anything exciting about mablethorpe
An earlier poster wanted it added to the trello board under countries list. And then another pp said "we'll always have mablethorpe".

I think I'm over-invested too. My ds 9 just said "mum's still on mumsnet reading about the garden doors" to my dm who has just arrived for lunch.
