Hello everyone, new thread as requested. hopefully MNHQ could be so kind (as they already have been) to verify that I'm the OP from the original four threads?

Sorry again about the title NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON ANYMORE but I will try to keep you all updated. I'll probably not be back till the morning but THANKS for all the support and nice messages Grin

@SchadenfreudePersonified Rest day today! Grin Wine

Might be worth checking, OP, whether you have legal expenses cover on your home insurance policy. Some home insurance policies, together with bank accounts and work benefits packages include a legal helpline too.

I'm just concerned about the expense to you of hiring a solicitor through no fault of your own.

LazySusan11 · 29/07/2017 19:58

Trespass is civil, so many people saying call 101, it's an emergency service not social services! what do you want the police to do?!

Put a huge bouncy castle in front of the doors!

WhatIsThisWatt · 29/07/2017 19:59

king agreed, I was thinking that.

Yes I have now posted the note through the door and fashioned a LAMINATED SHEET out of sellotape, plastic wallet thing and staples. It looked shit first time I've done it three times but it's now on the window and looks fine.

I've confused and upset people....sorry. I meant did they think that a; they wouldn't need pp or b; that they'd get it, not that they had it. I was thinking about one of those lovely three foot high fences you can buy actually. As it's your garden, you could put one up...

SylviaPoe · 29/07/2017 20:00

The police aren't an emergency service if you call 101.

Not that there's currently a reason for the OP to call them.

Florene · 29/07/2017 20:00

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the bouncy castle thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MadamePomfrey · 29/07/2017 20:02

They are going to swap the doors them say they thought it would be ok as the other flats have similar. Then probably do the stamp my feet it's not fair we just want what they all have, why can't we have them if they can blah blah blah!!!

Op I think it's time for thread 6!!

mummyofmoomoos · 29/07/2017 20:04

Still think a penguin bollard nearly up against the doors would be nice- you could have its little penguiny face cheerily facing in- spying on the cfn Smile

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 29/07/2017 20:05

Can the police peeps help? See I'd have suggested calling 101 to get it noted (not call anyone out!) we had issues with our old neighbour and they advised us to call in.

Also to check and get advice before doing the cable ties. I can't see a problem with it - they can't use the doors without it impinging on your space - but id like it noted first

Does that make sense? I'm all up for not wasting police time they have enough to do - but I really don't see the problem with a call to log the issue.

Happy to be corrected though!

WhatIsThisWatt · 29/07/2017 20:05

Bouncy castle is tempting and now that florene has requested it I need to make it happen Grin

I'm going to look on eBay and the favebook selling section to see if there are any going cheap.

My friend has a little one so I can say it's for her birthday which is in January right??

Can the Op borrow/ buy a heavy bench to put across the door?

MrTrebus · 29/07/2017 20:07

OP start a new thread please!

C8H10N4O2 · 29/07/2017 20:07

Since there has been a fairy tale edition of the story as well I think this bouncy castle might work:

CFN vanished, Spanish grandma, patio doors, I don't know what the hell to call this thread #5
Doesitgoto11 · 29/07/2017 20:08

Omg to the bouncy castle. I have images of a load of drunk mumsnetters bouncing around on it like loons at 4am Grin

SylviaPoe · 29/07/2017 20:08

I would definitely put something permanent in front of the doors, like a heavy stone bench.

It could be months or even years before the get around to replacing the windows, and you don't want them using the garden in the meantime.

beepbeep · 29/07/2017 20:09

Trespassing is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. The police would advise the OP to contact her solicitor, which she has already done.

The police have no powers when it comes to trespassing, they can't arrest for it, they can just assist in removing trespassers from your land.

The planning matter, again is nothing to do with the Police.

GutterStar · 29/07/2017 20:09

Have you emailed the planning woman regarding the new doors you've spotted?
Flowers for Wattyy. I hope you're feeling alright overall, it can't be nice knowing someone's been in your garden.

Honeypot1 · 29/07/2017 20:09

Florene and Kezzamo, sorry but I don't think that's very professional. You don't know where op is and shouldn't really use your personal experience to say that this shouldn't be logged in crimint and prioritised accordingly. There is a difference in calling 101 and asking to report an intruder asking for it to be logged v. Calling for police assistance. If this escalates, I have a full appreciation of how valuable the formal log of events will be. I wholeheartedly thank you for & love your work (DH is police officer). You are grossly underesourced and undervalued but please don't let the countries financial position influence people to not call for help if justified. That just supports the 'stats' politicians use to say all is well and not give police the resources that are so badly required to assist in situations like this.

Equally, Op, did you manage to log with insurance? Is this now insecure parameter to your property covered by insurance so they can advise on solicitors and escalate as required?

I would do both (and I work for the police too).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/07/2017 20:10

January isn't far away Wattyyyy

You don't want to leave that bouncy castle till the last minute. You'll probably need to practise putting it up and taking it down

milliemolliemou · 29/07/2017 20:10

Don't bother the police even on 101. Text the planning officer who gave you her mobile number tomorrow and ask what you should be doing since there's been developments since she came, eg new doors, new intrusions.

I second putting a note sellotaped to the front door (photographed) and the reverse put on the illegal door to the garden (photographed).

And I'd also be asking the Planning officer if the building regs person can come out as other PPs have said the builders could have made the building unsafe. And if she's chasing first builders from 100 miles away and potentially new builders? Did anyone get the new firm name if it was one? Also has she checked the land registry for the owners?

C8H10N4O2 · 29/07/2017 20:10

Oh yes, new thread needed "Part the 6th, in which the CFN look out upon Castle Doom and despair"

SnickersWasAHorse · 29/07/2017 20:10

Why would they buy new doors?
If they have got ones that look more like yours then how have they got them so quickly.
Do be careful about what you say about the new doors as they could get pissy about you looking through the window.

I guess there is a danger that the note from the planners was either taken/mislaid by the builders or has been picked up and put on the side with other post/pizza leaflets.
