It's OK. Kitty's info just means you can't follow the more extreme suggestions of setting booby traps, motion sensored crossbow or air rifles etc. Trespassers will not be shot or turned into zombies, that is illegal. They will not be injured by a something heavy preventing them from opening their doors.

Can you put all your garden furniture in front of the doors, close but not actually leaned up against it iyswim. It's your garden so you can put your things where you like in it and it'd be sending a v clear message to CFN!

Have you considered installing a penguin bollard so close to their doors so they couldn't be opened? (I'm assuming your garden isn't subject to the listed planning rules)

I would definitely add to your note that your garden is being monitored by CCTV. It doesn't matter if it isn't, they don't need to know. but it might act as a deterrent!

This must be awful for you WhatIsThisWatt. I hope CFN have the proverbial book thrown at them. After having to jump through hoops with my freeholder to be able to remove a half dead hedge from the front garden of my non listed maisonette I'd hate to see them get away with damaging a listed building!

Oh ohhh ohh my former neighbours were property developers who claimed to specialise in old and listed buildings. Their MO is buy property, live in it for a while, do work on the property and move on quickly so they don't have to pay capital gains tax on the renovation projects.

If the letter from the planners is addressed to the owners, then the builders possibly haven't opened it. Or they may have gotten permission from the owners to open it, which means the owners are fully aware of the situation. The fact that they're still apparently going ahead with further alterations just reinforces their cheeky fuckiness, and the fact that they're a bunch of idiotic cowboys. grrrrr

have you put the note on the window? I think you need to do that tonight so that if the builders come back tomorrow they would have to see it and can't say they didn't know it was your private garden. I know you told them before but if it's in writing you have proof.

I think the fact they have purchased new doors would suggest to me they definitely know something is amiss woof
