Hello everyone, new thread as requested. hopefully MNHQ could be so kind (as they already have been) to verify that I'm the OP from the original four threads?

Sorry again about the title NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON ANYMORE but I will try to keep you all updated. I'll probably not be back till the morning but THANKS for all the support and nice messages Grin

Trellis across the door, it's cheap enough to replace if it's damaged but will enforce the boundary, or some chicken wire fencing attached to posts pushed into the ground.

Kezzamo · 29/07/2017 19:19

Another police officer here. Please don't call the police. What do you realistically expect them to do? Trust me there are plenty of people who need us and at this point in time you don't. The matter is being investigated by the appropriate authority and you can employ a solicitor. I can assure you logging the matter etc won't matter a jot. You already have reported it to the correct people. If the situation changes and you are frightened then please do call Grin

gingergenius · 29/07/2017 19:20

Florene I understand your point but you must also sympathise with situations like this where people feel powerless to protect what's theirs? Not a criticism of the police force, but it's such a frustrating situation for those affected when it seems that some folk can do what they like, even though it's illegal, but there's nothing to be done without spending thousands in court costs. The system needs to change, surely?

MsPavlichenko · 29/07/2017 19:20

Yes, call 101 to log it. Tel them you have contacted police already as you will have.

Wouldn't mention specifics of what building work they have to do re listed building. Just if access needed for repairs to contact you.

Would also be arranging garden furniture/planters etc to reinforce it is your garden. Also might be worth contacting other neighbours now to let them now you are in touch with Council etc, and to keep them in loop.

PoppyBucket · 29/07/2017 19:20

It's raining here, what can I use to cover the letter and stick it to the doors??

Put it in a sandwich bag. Do it.

DudeHatesHisCarryOut · 29/07/2017 19:20

Another one who says call the police, not for the trespass necessarily, but to tell what the situation is, tell them you're a lone female and are worried things could get nasty once they realise you're not going to play ball.

If I were you I'd clean your BBQ then buy a motion-activated sprinkler. Ok, they'd probably disconnect it soon enough but that would be further proof of them massively overstepping the mark. Either that, or by a large (but very comfortable) chair placed right by the the doors, and get it occupied for as much as possible for the next week or so ( you could draw up a rota of your Gran / friends / local MNers). Supply earplugs and wine and I'm sure lots of us would be willing to sit on guard for a few hours!

Laughsandgiggles · 29/07/2017 19:21

If the property has recently changed ownership it is unlikely that the land registry will have updated yet unfortunately. It takes quite a while (know this from bad previous experience unfortunately)
I've watched this from the start and can't believe what has been going on. I thought I had CFNs but nothing compared to you.
Eagerly awaiting watching how this pans out.

LadyFlangeWidget · 29/07/2017 19:21

Omg whats the latest? Thread ends cant seem to see the next one? This has kept me on the sofa for the last 2 hours after being out all day in town.

Flowersinyourhair · 29/07/2017 19:21

Are you sure they've been in the garden OP? Could the butts have been thrown out of a window?

WhatIsThisWatt · 29/07/2017 19:22

florene and kezzamo thank you for letting me know, I definitely won't. Do you know if I'm within my rights to put something in front of their doors? I won't "touch" their doors so presumably I can put whatever I want wherever I want in my garden?

Hope you're going to do the land registry search, OP. The planning dept. will likely do it too if when taken further but I'd be so curious! I may or may not have done this in the past then found out a lot about a person via Facebook due to their very open privacy settings and helped my case. Even if it's a property company who have bought it, I'm sure a quick google will provide some info. Now I sound mad but it was completely justified.

Sounds like they're going to ignore the notice, try to mimic your doors in order to access your garden and try to get away with breaking regulations. Hope you're going to contact the lovely people from the council again and update them.

TheLittleShirt · 29/07/2017 19:23

I honestly am not place marking, but I think Judas should sing the soundtrack to the movie.

ExplodedCloud · 29/07/2017 19:23

You can film in your own garden btw so you could legally put a webcam or cctv up and film as long as you only film your garden. So you can't point it at the doors but you could point it along the doors so anyone using them is filmed.
Personally I'd be buying a mallet and two poles to bang in to the ground at this point. Just high enough to stop the doors opening. Cheap and easy.

Laine21 · 29/07/2017 19:24

sorry I missed a word out in the last sentence and cant figure out how to edit
they have already committed a crime by their actions as regards planning etc....

but please tell the police 'IF' you now feel you are being intimidated by them or their representative’s actions

Lostinaseaofbubbles · 29/07/2017 19:24

Another vote for logging this all with the police at this stage.

It's possible that the planning consent people focussed on the planning/listed stuff and didn't even mention that it's a private garden to which they have no right.

You're taking this so well OP. I'd be beside myself by now.

LadyFlangeWidget · 29/07/2017 19:24

Ahh here we are. This is better than Italian evening tv Wink

RainyDayBear · 29/07/2017 19:24

Cheeky bloody fuckers!

Your note sounds good and formalises things, I'm glad you're following up with a solicitor too!

I agree with others, can you get a really big planter or heavy bench to block their access? Don't know what they think they are doing with yet more doors, and think an email to the lady from the planning department is a good idea! I also think accessing the land registry is a good idea.

Also, hurrah for free wine!! (Anyone else wondering if Ken fancies OP?).

PoppyBucket · 29/07/2017 19:25

Also I would fully be sellotaping doors shut at same time

Yeah. That'd work Grin

bunningsbunny · 29/07/2017 19:26

The note is great but I would change 'refrain' to 'stop' as these builders are not very bright. It needs to be super clear and obvious what you mean rather than a written nicely letter that Mumsnet
your English teacher would be proud of.

Also make sure when you put the letter out have the same thing written on both sides so they have no excuse about not seeing it.

Finally - have I missed something - have they taken the panel of bricks away with them? And have you been looking on reclamation yard websites to see if you can spot your neighbour's window yet?

SheSellSeaShells · 29/07/2017 19:26

Can u get cctv installed for when you're not there? We have one that you can log into online and move around to see whats going on and we have one out front that's motion sensitive and comes on when someone is on our drive and records. (dp bit into his gadgets)

RainyDayBear · 29/07/2017 19:26

Meant to say I would be installing CCTV for the garden also until this was all resolved, I don't think it's that expensive. You shouldn't have to, but I feel it would be money well spent in this instance!
