CFN patio doors onto my private garden thread #3

Wattyyyy · 28/07/2017 12:22

Okay I thought I'd start this for when they inevitably show their faces!!

Sorry all the threads have different titles Confused

I have a slight update - I managed to catch the nice neighbour at the other side (I think he'd heard the commotion and was loitering about waiting for me Grin )

He was gobsmacked! Apparently he's lived here for thirty years and has never heard anything like it. I told him I'd keep him updated and he asked if i wanted to come in for a cup of tea, I politely declined hahahah. Glad I now have a nice normal neighbour on my side!

cjt110 · 28/07/2017 12:48

I repeat has the planning bod been out yet?

Oldbutstillgotit · 28/07/2017 12:48

Amazing thread(s). Could someone please post link to Mexican House a Thief ? Mind boggling ....

IloveBanff · 28/07/2017 12:48

For anyone who missed OP's post on thread #2 re. what the planners said, it's here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2990757-Neighbour-new-door-private-garden-thread-2?pg=9#

Whatsername17 · 28/07/2017 12:49

I'm really glad things are in your favour legally. You do not need to be confrontational with them now, the law and everything else is on your side. You can simply state that your garden is private and belongs to you and that they couldn't, even with planning permission, put in doors to access it. I hope they come back soon and things continue to take you smoothly back to the status quo.

blackistheneworange · 28/07/2017 12:49

I did wonder if they were planning on getting a patio done over the weekend too. Stay out the way until their new garden is sorted?! Grin

Sorry OP - it must be a nightmare. On the plus side, it's Mumsnet Gold!

Runninglikeamummy · 28/07/2017 12:49

Pretty bird thanks yes I saw that but I was trying to work out how the shutters fitted on arch windows. Usually the shutters fit into the casements at the side.

ShatnersWig · 28/07/2017 12:49

cjt Read the last couple of pages of previous thread, but answer is yes and CFN are in deep shit.

IloveBanff · 28/07/2017 12:50

Damn! Sorry I meant to click preview not post above. It's the post at Fri 28-Jul-17 11:44:00 on thread #2

LeakyLittleBoat · 28/07/2017 12:50

This thread is marvelous. I got up at 4am my time reasoning that it would be midday there and that surely the planning dept. would have been/be there and oh bliss I was right. Wonderful outcome that the CFN HAVE BROKEN EVERY REGULATION and are going to be in a world of hurt trying to put it right!
They must know there's trouble waiting for them on their return home by now, surely they've been in contact with the cowboy builder if only to ask how the work was going. Can't bloody wait until they do return to face the music.

UnicornSparkles1 · 28/07/2017 12:50

Have you ever met the cfn? Could the cfn actually be the builder who has trashed the beautiful old window? I'm thinking unscrupulous landlord trying to rent a flat "with a beautiful garden"?

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 28/07/2017 12:51

countrygardner and cjt110 planning bod (or three!) has been out and basically CFN have broken every regulation under the sun. They are rather gobsmacked and have put a notice through their door. OP has been advised not to move anything and contact the head planning person if anything else occurs. CFN still not back. HTH!

BoredOnMatLeave · 28/07/2017 12:52

Keep trying to remember CFN means cheeky fucking neighbour and not cunt faced neighbour but I guess both works in this case anyway

not a Placemark

Yamayo · 28/07/2017 12:52

This thread will be remembered for decades... Grin

I'm absolutely loving these threads, I particularly enjoyed the diagram and the prison suits link.

Would the new owners names be on the land registry (I think it costs about £6 to get a copy)? Not sure how long it takes the land registry to update though.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/07/2017 12:53

Excellent precis - thank you, @chirpy!

thenightsky · 28/07/2017 12:53

TheClacksAreDown I remember that episode of Location x 3. Kirsty swinging her legs out of the window to access the garden Grin

DontTouchTheMoustache · 28/07/2017 12:53

It's great to see an aibu thread that has helped the OP keep calm and work through the correct steps to resolve a situation like this. Well done everyone Wine

Nice to hear you've got allies among your neighbours.

I'd be very careful about confronting them. Even if they're not aggressive arseholes they'll likely be on the defensive.

laura1206 · 28/07/2017 12:54

Where are the CFN?!

DadDadDad · 28/07/2017 12:55

Leaky - I was wondering too if they've been in conduct with the builders.

CFN: Hi, just phoning to check that the new doors have gone in OK?

Builders: Yes, but -

CFN: Oh great, and you've managed to tidy away all the rubble and leave the garden in a good state? We wouldn't want to upset our neighbour.

Builders: Actually, the rubble is still there, but -

CFN: What? This needs to be sorted!

Builders: I think you may have a bigger problem. Did you know that the building is listed?

CFN: Listed? What do you mean?
