Okay I thought I'd start this for when they inevitably show their faces!!

I have a slight update - I managed to catch the nice neighbour at the other side (I think he'd heard the commotion and was loitering about waiting for me )

He was gobsmacked! Apparently he's lived here for thirty years and has never heard anything like it. I told him I'd keep him updated and he asked if i wanted to come in for a cup of tea, I politely declined hahahah. Glad I now have a nice normal neighbour on my side!

Selfish gits! I so want to read the meet the cfn update!!

AIBU that this is the only MN post I've read all day? None of the others getting a look in! My heart was actually thumping when OP heard sound next door! Think I might be a little over invested.

I love the mental image I have of your slightly squiffy friend wavering her way over to the shop for more plonk and a bagfull of gossip. If you stop seeing shopkeeper very soon and then we start getting posts from username "StillOpenAllHours" or "ArkwrightsLongLostSon" then we'll know that he's succumbed!

Just caught up...OP your flat sounds an almost identical layout to somewhere I used to live in Devon. I'm guessing there's a lot of these type of buildings about. Ours was a converted church reading rooms with the freehold held by the National Trust....so I wouldn't have even considered changing a door knocker without the appropriate permissions.

Ohh very similar, I won't say where but I'm not too far away from there I don't think there's any point in trying to preserve my identity anymore but I'll persist nonetheless

I was supposed to be going out this evening but just phoned DP & asked him to bring wine & kettle chips instead.

Phew. Just caught up. How dare work and dd's bed time get in the way!

The rubble is probably still out the front as they probably expect you to clear it given that they have had to pay for the access to your garden
