Couldn't remember the title of the last one so thought that'd do!

No sign of them at all, went out and looked through and all the lights are off, definitely not in. WTF IS GOING ON????

Come back CFNs. Come back! Please please please come back. And please get your friend to record an audio of the confrontation and then get it typed up (not asking for much...) oh and a few drawings (court stylie) of the confrontation would be good too ! And yes to CCTV to record them setting foot in your garden. I'm off to buy more popcorn to live vicariously through you and cancel my Sky subscription :-)

ijustwannadance · 28/07/2017 12:05

This will be the case your local conservation officers will be refering to for years to come!

The large piece of brickwork they found will be the bit from under the original window. Good that there are still original bricks but a bloody shame the window frame isn't there too.

mateysmum · 28/07/2017 12:06

Be careful the builders don't come back and try and take away the lump of bricks and anything else they left behind. So suggest you spend this afternoon installing a trip wire, alarm and man trap in an appropriate spot.

I actually think the builders are probably many miles away never to return. They knew exactly what they were doing, but hadn't reckoned on Wattyyy's brilliance.

viques · 28/07/2017 12:06

great update OP. Do you know if the planning people will recommend a specialist builder to them, or have to approve a builder? the last thing you want is for them to haul the cowboy back.

MadamePomfrey · 28/07/2017 12:06

How I picture CFN's right now

I know what you mean OP. I'll have to actually get on with my day now.

I wonder if CFNs have been tipped off or not. In any case, they can't stay away til Monday. It wouldn't be fair.

harrietm87 · 28/07/2017 12:06

Mwahahaha this is wonderful!

OP what are the CFNs like? Have you met them? What age are they? (Just trying to imagine what sort of idiots would think they'd get away with this!)

emmyrose2000 · 28/07/2017 12:07

Sorry if I've missed this earlier, but I'm just trying to picture the physical layout here.

Is the NDN's wall with the old window/new doors on the actual borderline of your two properties'? ie. is their wall the equivalent of a fence, so that your grass/yard abuts their house (not just their yard/property in general, but their actual house)? So if they were to walk through their new doors they'd instantly be standing on your property? Which means the builders were trespassing on your property too? (How did they gain access?).

Elendon · 28/07/2017 12:07

That large piece might have been the coping stone above the window.

If so, then there will be trouble ahead

blueskyinmarch · 28/07/2017 12:07

Great update. Can't wait for the CFN showdown!

RainyDayBear · 28/07/2017 12:07

Amazing! That was such a satisfying update! You deserve a gold star OP for your commitment to keeping the thread updated.

Cannot wait until CFN put in an appearance!!!

BaDumShh · 28/07/2017 12:08

OP can you start and link a new thread?

Popfan · 28/07/2017 12:08

Oooh this has been great! Sorry though OP you have been going through this. I'm going on holiday tomorrow and am now really worried that I'm going to miss the return of CFN! !

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2017 12:08

Yayy, it was the only possible outcome. Now the neighbours coming home and then the horror of the cost of reiinstating it.

These guys have probably just blown the best part of ten grand.and that's if they aren't fined. On nothing, It's beyond mind boggling.

" The planners will deal with the first "

Hopefully it having to be put back to a window also deals with the second.

Perhaps that's why not every flat has garden access-the listedness of the building!

Neoflex · 28/07/2017 12:10

I wish mumsnet had a crime watch style series with remakes of the weeks juiciest threads. Who would play you Wattyy? I have the baddies from home alone playing the builders and the blonde chick from Downton abbey as the planner, with briefcase walker from in betweeners as her intern.

Lovely thread, I hope they invite you to the garden party/bbq they're planning in their newly acquired (your) garden to inaugurate their lovely new door!

AgathaF · 28/07/2017 12:12

Brilliant update Grin. Are the flats leasehold? Does the freeholder need informing?

I hope they don't give you any shit when they do come home.

Monkeyinshoes · 28/07/2017 12:12

Yes emmyrose that's right. If they step foot out of the doors they'd be on her property. I guess the doors open outwards, so even opening them is into her property. They gained access by removing the window and knocking the wall down!

HamptonWick1974 · 28/07/2017 12:13

OP..... PLEASE SET UP A NEW THREAD!

CFN is clearly in hiding until the can raise the funds to put YOUR garden and their house back to how it should be!
