Couldn't remember the title of the last one so thought that'd do!

No sign of them at all, went out and looked through and all the lights are off, definitely not in. WTF IS GOING ON????

Just to let you know we own a flat in a listed building and tonight my Dh has been to a meeting with all the other owners to discuss this very topic: replacing the back windows. We have boring windows that are to be replaced with boring windows. No knocking down walls etc. The bill is 12k per flat (subsidised so we pay 6k). That is just for very boring average windows indeed. So you can imagine your neighbors bill.

Miserylovescompany2 · 27/07/2017 20:39

They'll most likely be shitting bricks - just not the type the need!!!

Wattyyyy · 27/07/2017 20:39

I'm now imagining all sorts of people turning up to do random jobs in my garden. Maybe I should leave them to it, I wouldn't mind some decking/ a pond etc Grin Halo

Just opening the door

TakeMe2Insanity · 27/07/2017 20:39

Just read the threads. OMG. Stunned.

ChasedByBees · 27/07/2017 20:40

What time are they usually home? Have you had a chance to chat with other neighbours? I'd put money on them still being ignorant and oblivious to the full scale of what they've done.

newdaddie · 27/07/2017 20:40

I don't think hiding will help them as planning can force entry and arrange remedial work in their absence.

elQuintoConyo · 27/07/2017 20:40

Get practising: mine mine mine mine mine mine

Brew

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/07/2017 20:41

Well they've either realised the error of their ways, and are all down the pub, or they have indeed, gone away for a few days

Msqueen33 · 27/07/2017 20:41

So they've replaced with a horrible plastic monstrosity in a listed building? The shit will royally hit the fan when the council see it I imagine.

mumsneedwine · 27/07/2017 20:42

Cheap plastic doors in a listed building will give the poor planning person a big wobble. My uncle deals with this and he insists on the correct paint !!! Builder and owner are in deep deep Do Do 😂😂

Mix56 · 27/07/2017 20:42

Is the work done ? or have they left it open to the elements ?

Gemini69 · 27/07/2017 20:42

crazy garden stealing people Shock wtf ?!

Ropsleybunny · 27/07/2017 20:42

Checking in to new thread.

DesignedForLife · 27/07/2017 20:43

Maybe they are a Mumsnettter and are now panicking about two years in jail?

53rdWay · 27/07/2017 20:43

These are new neighbours, right?

I lived in one place where some flats had gardens and some didn't. When new neighbours moved into a non-garden flat, some of the existing neighbours (good friends with them) told me I should really give up a bit of my garden to the new ones, because "probably they would have had that part originally, it must have been lost by mistake over the years, it's only fair." Some people have v odd ideas!

GreengageJam · 27/07/2017 20:43

Just going to enjoy your thread op, don't mind me...

On a serious note, I don't think you should engage with them at all - they sound completely unhinged.

Unlikelyfarmerswife · 27/07/2017 20:44

So did the builders finish the door?

I really think that you need to think beyond just contacting planning here - good first point of contact especially seeing that they're reacting so quickly but they're unlikely to sort out structural issues, insurance etc.

Your household insurance may be affected by this - you really need to get some proper legal advice. The planner may be able to give you some direction.

Hope you've goy some Wine

Passthecake30 · 27/07/2017 20:44

Wow. Maybe they were planning on a shiny new patio to walk out onto as well...

CatsCatsCats11 · 27/07/2017 20:45

I really want them to come home Blush

TaggieRR · 27/07/2017 20:45
