This is crazy! Hope it gets sorted, but as you say even if they do put it back they won't have the same bricks etc.

Slimthistime · 27/07/2017 19:24

oh yes, a bat signal would be good.

just to clarify - when I say I'd love a garden - I didn't want one when I bought here years ago because I was never home - and I certainly wouldn't try to pinch someone else's if it was a possibility!

insancerre · 27/07/2017 19:24

Gosh
How entitled
Hope you get it sorted

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/07/2017 19:24

The wood for the window has to be bent and that's a specialist job. Plus the brickwork and and making good. This is going to be very expensive.....

OctopusArmEnvy · 27/07/2017 19:24

My first ever placemark!

Goingtobeawesome · 27/07/2017 19:25

How old are the new neighbour's? I'm

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 27/07/2017 19:26

I just can't believe people can be so entitled!

MarvinKMooney · 27/07/2017 19:26

The authorities are going to come down on this one like the proverbial ton of bricks.

I used to live in a grade 2 listed world heritage area (with windows very like yours!). Our new NDN put up a bloody great satellite dish on the outside of his house - he was commanded to take it down within 24 hours of it being installed.

Your situation is much worse, I can see that, but stand firm and take deep breaths. This one will get sorted. Flowers

DakotaFanny · 27/07/2017 19:26

I'm worried this thread will run out- promise to link your next thread please!

Nightmare!

Whatsername17 · 27/07/2017 19:26

I was wondering if they were young. I bought my first home at 21 and was very green about it all at the time.

OOAOML · 27/07/2017 19:27

Our flat is on a corner next to terraced houses. From the kitchen window I can see other people's gardens and next door have a lovely big washing line. I don't climb out and use it though, because it isn't mine.

JessieMcJessie · 27/07/2017 19:27

This is just nosiness but what century was the building built OP? And is it purpose built as flats or a conversion? And finally, are you in Scotland because steak pie is very Scottish Grin.

pseudonymity · 27/07/2017 19:27

Where's the window that was taken out? Is it still around?

newdaddie · 27/07/2017 19:27

Excellent diagram OP your situation is so black and white I think your neighbours are beyond cheeky.

I imagined from your earlier posts that the garden was not already partitioned and that by some fluke your property was the only property built with access to the whole square (all 4 gardens) like if your house was the bit converted from the former stables or something weird and wonderful like that.

MiddleClassProblem · 27/07/2017 19:28

Completely unrelated but if there are no cats in the gardens and pets are allowed it would be ideal for an FIV cat...

LilaBard · 27/07/2017 19:28

Shamelessly placemarking here. Totally gobsmacked. The port to cheekyfuckerland needs to be firmly closed at this point and maybe newdaddy can pass the message on to the relevant parties in their homeland (oj. kinda.)

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 27/07/2017 19:28

Hopefully planning people will have some idea of the structure but I would suggest that it might be worth getting someone in to check the structure just for your peace of mind. I think the council can do it so hopefully easily arranged!

Do the flat size with no garden over look 2 people's gardens? If so I wonder why they picked to knock into your side.

This thread I can imagine is quite identifying anyway so you may as well just post the pictures anyway!

TheHobbitMum · 27/07/2017 19:29

Just when you think tm you've seen every kind of cheeky fucker on Mumsnet another worse one pops up! OP I hope planning are out asap x

mrsheathy85 · 27/07/2017 19:32

Just read out your OP to dh and his jaw is on the floor. His suggestion was to out a fence up 3 inches away from the doors WinkGrin

Forgettheworld · 27/07/2017 19:33

Oh gosh I'd be fuming! Some cheeky fuckers about!

Neverknowing · 27/07/2017 19:34

What the fuck?!
I really hope they're fined and it's sorted. Surely it'll decrease the value of the property which you have just brought?! I hope they have to pay for that too. That sucks op.

TidyDancer · 27/07/2017 19:34

I'm glad to hear planning are on the ball with this. Needs to be dealt with sharpish.

Will be interesting to see if neighbours even speak to you after this. If I was them I'd be scuttling off and never coming back!

EvelynWardrobe · 27/07/2017 19:35

I'm wondering whether this will turn out like the thread where the next door neighbour did loads of work to the house because he thought he owned it, but he was renting it off the OP. I can't fathom how otherwise someone thinks this is an OK thing to do.

BrokenBattleDroid · 27/07/2017 19:36

Do they definitely own the flat themselves (apologies if this has been mentioned, I have read the thread but might have missed it)?

I'm concerned they won't get their comeuppance because they're renters who were chancing their luck at getting access to the garden for the short time they're there, and banking on their poor landlord having to foot the bill to rectify the mess. Maybe the builders are family and weren't expecting to be seen (and therefore traceable).

myusernamewhichisthis · 27/07/2017 19:36

have the neighbours come home?

op you must do a 2nd thread if this one fills up.....youve got a million mumsnetters glued to their seats.
