Those of you who have recent work or study experience.

Would you mind listing institution names and their policies?

NC if you need to of course.

I'm not in London (as in it's not permanent), it was publicised in Newcastle, that's how I found out about it. Where I am now, it's known about too.

cardibach · 27/07/2017 22:07

I'm in Wales. As another poster has pointed out, health is devolved. So your one of those who think Britain and England are synonymous, perhaps. Prejudice.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 22:07

I have never once said that women aren't allowed boundaries

And i feel that people who don't identify as male should be free to access women's spaces if that's where they feel most appropriate is for them to access

venusinscorpio · 27/07/2017 22:08

I've never heard of it. I'm quite well informed thanks. Maybe I was on holiday that week.

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:08

No Cardi

It's accessible by all UK citizens.

Clearly says so on the website (if you've read it you'll know this).

cardibach · 27/07/2017 22:08

You're* oops.
Known about by who, OP?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 22:08

Never heard of it either...

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:09

Local maternity services, Local GPs, rape crisis centres, women.

AssassinatedBeauty · 27/07/2017 22:09

Tbf, I had heard of the clinic at the time it was publicised, I think for providing maternity services. I did not remember the name of it, as it's an unusual name that seems to me unfortunately like the name of a gym or beauty clinic. I wasn't aware of the other services it provides as it was only the maternity clinic that was publicised.

I'm not sure what you think you've proved about people not immediately recognising this clinic.

cardibach · 27/07/2017 22:10

I didn't read the website. It's not relevant to me. Just googled to find out what it was. I've never heard of it and neither have several other posters. I DK t think you can take knowledge or lack of it of one facility as a short hand for well informed or not. In any case, you didn't answer my question - would you be happy for a predatory male who claimed to identify as female to access or provide services there?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 22:12

Whale has already said that
"And i feel that people who don't identify as male should be free to access women's spaces if that's where they feel most appropriate is for them to access"

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:12

"I'm not sure what you think you've proved about people not immediately recognising this clinic."

Because it's pretty much the biggest NHS project that's happened recently for women who've experienced sexual violence. And it is talked about a lot. I am just really surprised that those of you claiming to be all knowledgeable don't know about it, that's all.

Weirdly enough, they are fine with opening their safe spaces to transwomen too, so they clearly haven't seen any evidence of these risks you all allude too.

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:13

cardibach

To date, this "predatory male" issue you talk about has not been an issue for the clinic, I am comfortable attending their safe spaces along with transwomen.

venusinscorpio · 27/07/2017 22:14

Oh don't worry the NHS is well into gender nonsense and will happily throw women under the bus to be "inclusive", like many government agencies. It doesn't prove anything.

cardibach · 27/07/2017 22:14

Haven't seen evidence of, or are shutting their eyes to?
People can be very k owledgable about a field without knowing every detail. And actually, the thread isn't about sexual violence per se, is it?

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:15

"It doesn't prove anything."

Well, it does really, doesn't it. It demonstrates that those who have knowledge about how sexual violence works don't view transwomen in safe spaces as a major risk.

venusinscorpio · 27/07/2017 22:15

I am just really surprised that those of you claiming to be all knowledgeable don't know about it, that's all.

Continue to be amazed.

cardibach · 27/07/2017 22:16

But would you be comfortable with a bearded person with a functioning penis treating you after sexual violence? Do you think other women should be happy with this?

AssassinatedBeauty · 27/07/2017 22:16

Ok. No one here knows anything about anything, you have the monopoly on expertise. We must agree with you as an expert no doubt.

Are you expected to share vulnerable spaces with trans women at the clinic, as in communal changing, overnight stays in wards, showering facilities etc?

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:17

Card

My GP is male. I have no issue with him treating me.

venusinscorpio · 27/07/2017 22:19

No, it really doesn't say that. It means that the rights of trans identified males trump those of women. That's all.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 22:19

Whale A quick Google suggests that they open their spaces to transmen - I couldn't find anything about transwomen?

WildernessWhale · 27/07/2017 22:19

I haven't said no one knows about anything - please stop saying that I have said things when I haven't.

OK, actually, this is getting really boring and tedious to keep being accused of saying things I haven't.

I'm going. The MBB is fantastic if any of you who have experienced sexual violence would like to access it then please get in touch with them (they do preconception care right through to postnatal care as well as STI tests, smears etc. and they can advise and train your local maternity unit too).

venusinscorpio · 27/07/2017 22:20

My GP is male. I have no issue with him treating me.

Should other women have the right to be examined by a female doctor?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 22:20

Some women do have an issue. Should they not be allowed the choice?
