Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Entitled bastards! Definitely get a chain or something across your drive.

MrsJamesAspey · 26/07/2017 15:14

Have you hit any stickers, if not maybe make some with superglue and paper. I'd be sticking labels all over theirs windows,

I'm sure I saw a link in here a while back for some extra sticky stickers which are designed especially for occasions such as this .

MrsQuim · 26/07/2017 15:14

I am literally hyperventilating on your behalf!

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 26/07/2017 15:14

Is the business on Facebook? I'd shame them on There.

JessieMcJessie · 26/07/2017 15:15

I'm still a bit confused..could you please add to the diagram:

  1. CFN's house
  2. Blocking car
  3. DH's car
  4. Your car parked on road?
myshinynewusername · 26/07/2017 15:15

Have you got any large. heavy items that you could place around the car to block it in?

Then the parking wanker will have to come and ask you to let them out, at which point you can refuse and tell him it will be an hour before you can do that. Grin

ShmooBooMoo · 26/07/2017 15:16

No parking at any time/ access needed at all times sign for now. Then one of those bollards you can release/ lower for your own use. Cheeky sods!

strawberrygate · 26/07/2017 15:16

You need to man up and get round there. Now.

wherearemymarbles · 26/07/2017 15:17

Let all 4 tyres down.

Nothing he can do about that.

Collaborate · 26/07/2017 15:17

Mumsnut That is incorrect. If OP installed a sign threatening clamping if they were to park there and they ignored that, then they are well within their rights to clamp legally!

FFS if you're going to try an encourage OP to commit a crime at least know your subject. www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q528.htm

DownstairsMixUp · 26/07/2017 15:18

Glue a note to the car, superglue preferably, cheeky bastards !

ChasedByBees · 26/07/2017 15:19

I would make it as inconvenient as possible for them to get out if you can't block them in. Yes to unpacking your garage in front of their car and yes to bollards in future. Bastards.

SoPassRemarkable · 26/07/2017 15:19

I would block the road and block him in.

Can't believe they've been doing it for ages (according to your neighbour). Unbelievably cheeky! As others have said, don't give the sod 30 minutes...give an inch, take a mile! Go and keep your finger on the bell until they open. If they refuse/ don't come to the door, shout through the letterbox (and put a note through too) stating that you have asked politely to no end and are now off to call the council and the police. You will report the driver and the business!

DownstairsMixUp · 26/07/2017 15:20

Also I every time you go out now I would leave spikes in the drive ways, remind dh tho incase he drives onto them Grin

StormTreader · 26/07/2017 15:20

Make sure your DH always leaves his car in the other space, so that you can block them in on the space by the garage since its on the wider stretch of road.

glenthebattleostrich · 26/07/2017 15:21

Do you have a lawn chair and a book? Sit directly behind the car and refuse to move. Or dog shit under the handles.

SoPassRemarkable · 26/07/2017 15:21

Report to council for sure about the impact the business is having. Maybe they will revoke permission, thats if they have it.

CheesecakeAddict · 26/07/2017 15:21

Does your kid/kids and the neighbours' kids not like football? I can see from that diagramme that you have a nice garden. I mean if your kids were playing football on your land and it just so happened to be next to his car......

user1498911589 · 26/07/2017 15:22

Find the social media page for the business and post the sorry story on there, then phone the local council to see if they have permission to run the business from home.

NannyRed · 26/07/2017 15:22

I'd be getting the strimmer, lawn mower, wheelbarrow etc out and plonking them in front of the car that shouldn't be there. If you start pulling out cans of paint he may panic and move the car.

What a bloody cheek!

Oh do you have a creosote sprayer? Start setting it up and accidentally spray the car. 😱

AnnoyedPianoMum · 26/07/2017 15:22

Can you get a skip delivered on the end of your drive, a mini one might fit. Then fill it up with all manner of crap that might get spilt on the car. Everyone has at least one tin of paint they need to get rid of!

Cheeky fuckers. Start there and hold down the door bell till they move it.

mogulfield · 26/07/2017 15:22

So you can't unpack your shopping on your own drive?! I'd have my hand on the door bell as well.

Needsomeflapjacks · 26/07/2017 15:22

Def report to the council. . Get online, find her business and slate her. .
