Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Cover your ears and set off their car alarm. It was an accident right.

Sonotkylie · 26/07/2017 15:35

Remove his windscreen wipers and leave a note under to tell him that he can come and collect them from you when he pays the £5 parking charge for using your drive without permission.

2littlemoos · 26/07/2017 15:36

I honestly can't believe he has refused to move it! Angry

Some people are shocking.

rollonthesummer · 26/07/2017 15:37

I can't believe that they've parked on your drive, refused to move and that they park there when you're not there Shock.

Get gates!!

MistressDeeCee · 26/07/2017 15:37

People did this to neighbours in an area I lived in previously I distinctly recall this resulted in cars being towed away. Im sure police did it. So ring 101 and find out. You are being way too accommodating, in your shoes there'd be a chain across driveway already thats after leaning on doorbell and telling them to get to fuck out of it

PovertyPain · 26/07/2017 15:38

Hang on! I know it's not against the law to prevent someone from entering their driveway, but, isnt it against the law to block someone's car in their own drive? Shame you need to leave in your other car and they're preventing you, isn't it? Phone 101 and tell them you're blocked in.

If they've moved by now, then get your DH to leave his car, or you leave yours tomorrow. Come home early, don't let them know you're home and phone 101. Teach the fuckers a lesson.

I had a similar thing once - a woman repeatedly parking in my drive while she collected her kids from school. I asked her not to do it, and got a mouthful of abuse as she drove off.

I'm a big fan of biding my time, so I waited until the next time she did it. As soon as she was out of sight, I had the door open, trolley jack out, and the car was on bricks. A matter of seconds, no damage done.

I was stood on the drive as she came back to her car,. She gave me the finger, loaded her kids, and attempted to set off. Lots of noise, no movement :-) It then took her a good half hour and several broken nails to empty the boot, find the pithless jack and wind the car up in the air sufficiently to remove the bricks from each corner. Good times.

She hasn't parked there since.

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 15:39

It's trespass though, isnt it???

Lweji · 26/07/2017 15:40

What are those things that the police sometimes throws across a road to stop a runaway vehicle by bursting their tires?

You need one to put across your drive when you leave in the morning.

PersianCatLady · 26/07/2017 15:40

I would send an e-mail to the council just to check that the CFN has plann8ng permission to run a business from home and that he is paying the correct amount of business rates, not just residential council tax.

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 15:40

Haha @evilkitten you are an evil genius!!!!

Davros · 26/07/2017 15:41

Stinger

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 15:42

Stinger is a great idea except if it were me, I'd forget I'd put it there and damage my own tyres!!!! Blush

Issue them a bill backdated some months for the parking.
Agree to settle for 50% if it is paid promptly and an agreement to pay for parking on your drive in future is made.

BrokenBattleDroid · 26/07/2017 15:44

That is the height of rudeness and a Prittstick note on the windscreen situation if ever there was one.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 26/07/2017 15:47

Love your reaction, evilkitten!

Alpha - do you have enough bricks to do that? Perfect response!

PovertyPain · 26/07/2017 15:47

I think OP is busy holding CFN on the ground, by the throat, while she's shaves CFN's head with her own clippers. 😆

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 26/07/2017 15:48

Has it gone yet?

pompomlover · 26/07/2017 15:48

OMG I am RAGING on your behalf!! Angry

Its got to be a bollard, gate or even a chain at the least. Even maybe put a sign up?

Has he moved it yet?
