Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

My finger would be firmly pressed against their door bell until they moved it
Get round there now , they are taking the piss

WaaWaaWaaa · 26/07/2017 15:00

deffo not parking here for updates.... oh no...

MyKingdomForBrie · 26/07/2017 15:01

I can't believe you came away from the house without them having moved their car!! Nothing would have shifted me from their doorstep.

junerat · 26/07/2017 15:02

Has anyone mentioned Vaseline under the handles yet?

Hissy · 26/07/2017 15:02

Person REFUSES????
Go round there and tell them to move the car NOW.

Make it bloody clear too that under no circumstances are they or anyone else allowed to park in your drive.

I would tell them unless this stops today - and make sure they know all your neighbours know it's NOT with your permission - or you will be posting negative reviews all over their social media,

thegoodnameshadgone · 26/07/2017 15:03

The cheekiness of some people is astounding. Normal and reasonable then when t comes to parking it seems people's rationale just goes out the window along with their manners.

Collaborate · 26/07/2017 15:04

FFS why do people on these threads advise clamping? Don't they know it's a criminal offence these days?

OP - If you've a delivery of a couple of tons of sand or gravel due today you know where to tell them to dump it don't you?

DeepfriedPizza · 26/07/2017 15:04

Does the business have a facebook page that you could put a polite (Grin) post on?

SweetheartTreacleTart · 26/07/2017 15:05

Go back there OP and keep ringing the doorbell or bang on the door! Once it'w moved go round and give them a stern warning! How rude of them!

TieGrr · 26/07/2017 15:05

So there was space on the road for them to park as you parked there? And they still used their drive and refuse to move?

My blood pressure is rising just reading that. Anything other than your car you could block them in with? And then head off for a few hours.

Thegirlwithnousername · 26/07/2017 15:05

I can't get over the pure brass neck!
I would be demanding they move it now! You are nicer than me giving them half hour!

SmokingGun · 26/07/2017 15:06

As PP have said I would shift everything from garage, garden, etc behind the car. The more stuff and heavier it is the better

diddl · 26/07/2017 15:06

They refused to move it & you let that go????

Go back & tell them to move it!

And have words with your neighbour about taking the piss re using your drive & the appalling cheek of his employee refusing to move.

I'd be tempted to tell the that you were willing to sort something out put that their employee's shit attitude decided you against it.

Mumsnut · 26/07/2017 15:07

Unless you enter into an alliance with a private parking company, the only thing you can do is install locakble posts. You can get remote control ones.

Msqueen33 · 26/07/2017 15:07

Cheeky bastards. I'm curious as to how much they park on your drive when you're not there!

Sprinklestar · 26/07/2017 15:07

Raging on your behalf, OP.

I'd be standing there with a hose when they came to collect (finally).

What a cheek! And I'd definitely be getting some bollards. How entitled is the CF who is parked there??? I'd suggest your argument is actually with him and not the neighbours. CF should not have parked there unless it had been cleared by you and he'd heard it from you personally.

I'd also call non emergency police so it's logged in case things escalate. Any PCSOs in your area to come and have a word? I can't believe the gall of some people!

BalloonSlayer · 26/07/2017 15:08

Where is CFN's car parked?
Can you block him in?

Say you will move it precisely the same number of minutes after he has asked you to move it as his employee took to move theirs after you have asked them.

So . . . you asked CFN's employee to move their car at 2.30. They eventually move it at 4pm.

You block CFN's car in. CFN comes to ask you to move it at 7.30pm. You say that you will do the same as they did to you and the car will be therefore moved at 9pm.

JustDontGetItAtAll · 26/07/2017 15:08

Mumsnut That is incorrect. If OP installed a sign threatening clamping if they were to park there and they ignored that, then they are well within their rights to clamp legally!

weeblueberry · 26/07/2017 15:09

She's told them to move it. They said no. What does everyone mean by 'I can't believe you accepted that'. What do you expect her to do if they don't answer the door now. Hmm police probably won't come out til they're gone but I'd get a massive sticker that says 'you've parked on public property' (there must be printables online for this) and stick it to their car. If you're feeling kind put a note through their door telling them you'll do it in 10 mins.

BewareTheUndertoad · 26/07/2017 15:10

Moving some stuff from the garage which happens to include nails and screws which could get spilled maybe...

If your other car is in front of intruder could you just get in and use it to push intruder into the road?

I would be ringing the doorbell until it was gone though. And put a bill through the letterbox for parking. Take photos.

MrTrebus · 26/07/2017 15:10

Bollards. Doesn't need to be penguin based. You're being too nice about this you need to be round there banging on the door and getting really lairy to your neighbour as well as his employees. Woman up!

weeblueberry · 26/07/2017 15:10

Private properly...

sparechange · 26/07/2017 15:12

Can't you park over the grass to block the car in?

I'm slightly Shock that your response to being told they won't move their car off YOUR DRIVE was to negotiate the amount of time they can leave it there for... stand up for yourself!

FizzyGreenWater · 26/07/2017 15:13

'Hello, is that the council? I would like to report repeated trespassing. My neighbours run a business from home - I don't know if this is legal or if they are registered or anything ( :) ) but they are telling clients to use my private drive as parking, I currently have a stranger parked on my drive. My only option to use my drive is to block the highway. They are refusing to move from my property, can you help?'

'Hello, 101 - there is a person parked on my property refusing to vacate. Can you help, I have tried asking them to leave my property but they have refused to move and are trespassing, I feel intimidated'
