Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

If go and lean on the doorbell too. Either that or block them in then ignore the foor when they come to you

IdaDown · 26/07/2017 14:49

Apologies for the dull reply but - lockable or electric bollards.

Enjoy the delicious feeling of their frustration, gazing in longing at your empty unobtainable drives.

Worth every penny.

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 14:49

I would just keep on and on ringing that doorbell!

HipsterHunter · 26/07/2017 14:50

I can't believe you acquiesced to 'half an hour'.

Can you block the car in? If so do that and then fuck off for a while.

Do as @JacquesHammer says, except maybe don't bother warning CFN just report him.

Or get up some signs that comply with the legal requirements and then go and ticket the cheaky fucker every time you see them on your drive:

sunshine each of the drives only big enough for one car and my rear drive (nr the garage) has DHs car on it as he got a lift this morning. Although it's a strong 4x4 and I have a tow rope in the garage 😡

Some extra details : the person whose car is on my drive is CFN's employee, CFN's house is a terrace so no drive or allocated parking. Business is legit to be running from home too.

Don't stop ringing their doorbell until they've moved

And yes invest in bollards

And yes, worth checking if they're allowed to run the business from home and reporting them if not.

Can you report them for trespassing on private property as well?

Tazerface · 26/07/2017 14:52

I'd go and lean on the doorbell until they answered, and when they do, ask them if they didn't understand your request to move from your property? Tell them they have five minutes to move or you will report as abandoned on your drive, they do not have permission to park there in the future.

Then investigate bollards!

agedknees · 26/07/2017 14:52

Can you block the drive they are on with your car? And invoice them for parking on your drive.

MeltorPeltor · 26/07/2017 14:52

Keep knocking on their door until it is moved, do they have clients come
To the house? Because an angry parking lady would be quite off putting to customers.

trixymalixy · 26/07/2017 14:53

i would have been standing with my finger on the doorbell until it was moved.

AlphaBites · 26/07/2017 14:53

I really can't block it in as that would block the road. My road is weird as it's double width by the side where the pink cars ar but as soon as it turns in front of my house it's only one cars width. The other side of the road is a raised kerb/path for the edge of the visitor parking bays.

Don't tow it, you could damage the car. Move your car and block the fucker in!

Shadow666 · 26/07/2017 14:54

Do they have a client with them now? If so, go round and be loud and obnoxious. Keep ringing the doorbell. They're twats, you need to be a twat too.

AppleJacques · 26/07/2017 14:55

Sorry that came across a bit shouty, my anger is for the twunt on your drive not you Grin

JustDontGetItAtAll · 26/07/2017 14:56

Park behind them, blocking them in! Then refuse to move for an hour when they knock on our drive!!!!

For future reference, Police once told me that on private land, if you put a sign up saying that no parking is permitted and you will clamp their car - and some parks there anyway. That legally you CAN clamp their car!

Lweji · 26/07/2017 14:56

I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Well, block the road and ask the blocked people to get the car to move. :)

Personally, I'd block the road and beep continuously until they move it.

Redsippycup · 26/07/2017 14:56

I always think that people that have padlocked chains across their driveway look a bit antisocial. But then you read something like this.

I'd be tempted to be off down b&q and chain the driveway off with the bloody car still on it!

user1471459936 · 26/07/2017 14:56

Eh? Why are you letting them continue to park on your drive?! Madness. Be more assertive.

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 14:57

Even if you cannot block it in with your car, is there anything else you can block it in with?

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 26/07/2017 14:57

Release fee at my local pub is over £300. Do it!

BrightYellowStripes · 26/07/2017 14:58

I would be posting reviews on the company's Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yell... etc etc etc

RB68 · 26/07/2017 14:58

Prepare an invoice for parking services to the business and hand it over. When they don't pay take out a small claims against them. I would also put up a sign saying any future abuse of the parking on the drives which is private property will incur a charge and admin fees

SnickersWasAHorse · 26/07/2017 14:58

I'm doing nowt tomorrow. I'll come and park on your drive.

BrightYellowStripes · 26/07/2017 14:58

Or I would go to B&Q and buy a tyre clamp and charge a release fee.

JustDontGetItAtAll · 26/07/2017 14:58

Then you really need to call the Police if you cannot park on your own property!
