Longleat Center Parcs, taking £600 a night to be on a 24hr building site! Aaagghh

Mumblebeebee · 25/07/2017 02:05

We are currently staying at Longleat centre parcs. Having saved for this for a year, it's costing an eye watering £600 a night for 4 nights. Total £2400.

What we weren't told was our villa was opposite a 24 hour construction site. Which, as I type is sounding like smashing bottles being thrown into a bottle bank crossed with several generators running.

I'm fuming, no sleep possible and we have 4 children to entertain tomorrow.

AIBU to have expected Center Parks not to have booked out our villa knowing this. Or at very least warned us.

Any advice? We've called customer services at 2am to be told that extra work was being carried out!

I'm not happy at all.

Call the planning officer and/or noise enforcement officer at the council.. Doubt centreparcs are allowed to work after 5pm. And demand a refund.

That's appalling. When we've booked CP it has been clear at booking if the lodge is near building works. Complain complain complain!

SeashellHoarder · 25/07/2017 07:06

That's awful. Why on earth did they think it's ok to have builders working all night at a holiday resort?

I hope they give you a good solution today.

ColossalKalamari · 25/07/2017 07:06

That's ridiculous! YADNBU

NancyDonahue · 25/07/2017 07:07

£600 a night. (That's the maddest thing I've read on the internet today so far(. I'd go home and demand my money back. If you are paying that obscene amount you shouldn't be putting up with any shit at all.

A1Sharon · 25/07/2017 07:07

The OP is staying in the most expensive accommodation, she has explained why. They obviously can afford it. The price doesn't matter, whether you paid £500 or £2400, building work should not go on all night, and I thought there were laws about this?
Definitely not acceptable OP, as others have said record it and go mad!

Bodicea · 25/07/2017 07:07

We got a £75 refund when we were on a cheapie low season villa as they were resurfacing the road and doing quite a lot of work in front of our villa for one day which we were weren't told about. We took videos and photos.
When I pay to stay in a forest I expect it to be tranquill
Your situation sound a hundred times worse and you are paying top dollar. I would expect a refund and to be moved and if I am not moved I would expect a refund plus a voucher towards anoither break.

Hooleywhipper · 25/07/2017 07:08

OP that's appalling, good luck with getting it sorted today. You can't go another day or night like this.

gunsandbanjos · 25/07/2017 07:08

I'm gobsmacked at the price of centre parcs!!! I'm going on my honeymoon for a week in Italy for about what you paid for one night.

And holy crap you're not being unreasonable, I'd be kicking up merry hell, building work at 3am is mind boggling.

AdalindSchade · 25/07/2017 07:11

What a nightmare!
You need moving today plus a 50% refund for the whole break and a meal voucher for the inconvenience. I hope the kids got some sleep at least?

NancyDonahue · 25/07/2017 07:14

Well I guess if people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for a holiday, cp can continue to charge them.

It's like the holiday equivalent of a designer handbag.

geekone · 25/07/2017 07:14

I wouldn't be happy at the Overnight work and you should complain. CP are usually good about these things. As for the £600 per night it's not as bad as it seems center parcs is great you are getting one bedroom for £150 per night and all the amenities. I am a fan DS loves a good CP holiday. Hopefully they will sort you out

NapQueen · 25/07/2017 07:15

Shocking!

You shouldnt have to pay for last night and you should be moved to a quiet part of the site.

This is their premium cost time - no major works should be taking place!

Fruitbat1980 · 25/07/2017 07:16

Missing entire point of thread you should try french centre Parcs. Entirely same gig, less than half the price. Oh and they deliver croissants and bread to your villa door every morning Wink

Ifartrainbowsandglitter · 25/07/2017 07:17

I've complained about a noise/smell issue before and been given a voucher to cover the cost of my whole stay for a future visit. It didn't cost £2400 though as we were in a small villa in the off season.

Piggywaspushed · 25/07/2017 07:20

Before complaining anywhere, please check out spelling of where you are staying. You won't be taken seriously if you can't spell Longleat .

But, otherwise, sounds shocking. Hope they sort it out for you.

From pedant's corner :)

mcdog · 25/07/2017 07:21

This is awful. We love CP, but it's expensive. For that expense I expect a level of service that matches the cost!!

Do not let this rest OP, you need a full refund and moving asap.

Good luck.

Piggywaspushed · 25/07/2017 07:27

Just had a quick look at Trip Advisor : quite a few people complain about this construction noise. It does seem very odd that CP don't mention it on their booking pages. Even relatively shitty 2 - 3 star package holidays do that. Especially if it goes on through the night!!

NapQueen · 25/07/2017 07:30

Did you speak to anyone in the evening about the stopping time?

WipsGlitter · 25/07/2017 07:30

Hope you got some sleep OP!

Can you really get two weeks abroad for £2400 though?!?

Slarti · 25/07/2017 07:32

Definitely not on for them to situate you opposite all-night building work! CP is worth the money because you can escape to 5 star tranquility in beautiful surroundings where everything is perfect. They've let you down and I hope to see you get a good resolution (though even moving will be a PITA and I wonder if it will even be possible as they always seem to be sold out).

As for the accommodation, we recently stayed in a 4 bedroom lodge and just to reiterate and expand on what pp have said, it's not like paying for a room in a hotel, you are getting 4 double en-suite bedrooms, an enormous kitchen and living space, a games room (pool table etc), a sauna. CP is dear but imo it doesn't really compare to anything else.

Oblomov17 · 25/07/2017 07:33

Hope you get it sorted today.

Butterymuffin · 25/07/2017 07:34

Why on earth are they doing this work in peak season, as well as all the other problems with it?

ellestyle · 25/07/2017 07:35

Even if i could afford it i wouldn't pay out £600 a night to anyone. Who the hell do they think they are charging that. Sorry for missing the point but wtf, greedy bastards.Shock
