I've just had my hair done, hair extensions at the hairdressers, altogether £410 and I didn't tip.
Should I of ?
I'm moving in the next few weeks and as its a council house I need to buy all new carpets as its basically a empty shell so i need every penny I can get really.
Do you tip?
And if so how much?

This thread is weird 🤔

MSLehrerin · 21/07/2017 19:42

£410 for a hairdresser's appointment? You've more money than sense, no matter where you live....

AccrualIntentions · 21/07/2017 19:48

You spent more than your monthly rent on your hair?? Holy crap. If I had the equivalent to my monthly mortgage payment going spare I can think of much better things to spend it on, and I consider myself pretty high maintenance.

elQuintoConyo · 21/07/2017 19:57

I always tip 50% cos i'm not a stingey cah.

Louiselouie0890 · 21/07/2017 19:59

Depends what service they give. If it's a good cut and they've give me tips on styling or products etc then yes I will.

jarhead123 · 21/07/2017 20:02

Sorry but you're getting a council place but can afford £410 on hair?!

ConstanceCraving · 21/07/2017 20:04
Shock

I think you should have tipped.

Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 20:14

I get my hair done and we have even have little holidays. Not extravagant, but we need those little pleasures

But what would you spend £400 on first? Carpets/bits for your home, or your hair?

Regardless of your housing situation, if your families needs are met, including things that the house/family needs then spend your money on what ever the hell you like.

But don't come on and act like a goady fucker by asking if you're unreasonable not to leave a tip for £410 extensions when you need £700 odd on carpets for your house then say you can afford carpets, you'd just rather not have to pay for them then claim anyone would rather treat themselves than buy stuff for the house.

lookingforsomething · 21/07/2017 20:18

Never tipped in my life, the hairdresser costs quite enough anyway!

DonDrapersDeskDrawer · 21/07/2017 20:18

@Brittbugs80 yes of course! I wouldn't spend money on any extras if the house or DD needed something

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 20:23

If you had previously booked appointment and paid £100 I wasn't going to not go for my apt.
The time I get my keys I will have been paid next month anyway ..
Like I've said I didn't know after paying a large amount on hair if it was expected to still tip

OP posts:
MSLehrerin · 21/07/2017 20:25

If you can afford and are willing to pay £410 at the hairdresser then you can afford a 10% tip.

I really hope you didn't just come on to stealth boast about spending that amount though...or be a GF.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 20:30

£40 tip is crazy
I don't even know what G/F is I thought that meant girlfriend ?

OP posts:
Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 20:31

@Brittbugs80 yes of course! I wouldn't spend money on any extras if the house or DD needed something

Exactly, unfortunately, the OP is complaining about a tip that she could use to buy things she needs for her house but needed cheering up so spent £410 on her hair. Previous posts, she has grumbled about the hassle of having to change suppliers when moving from housing association to a council house and saying that she doesn't actually need to move.

She's coming across as though she doesn't actually need to be in a council house, compared to a family that would benefit from it.

lazycrazyhazy · 21/07/2017 20:31

I give cash: 10% to my hairdresser and a £5 note to the colourist. I always see the same people (7 years). I wouldn't if I were dis-satisfied.

lazycrazyhazy · 21/07/2017 20:32

But my bill isn't £410!

Ginlovinglady · 21/07/2017 20:33

God I wish I could rent a council house
I thought it was really hard to get one
I thought (unless you were already in, and then got a good job and could keep it) it was nigh on fucking impossible
Where the fuck do you live that charges 400 for extensions and gives council houses out willy nilly

BARB060609 · 21/07/2017 20:34

I find tipping really awkward. I usually tip hairdressers, restaurants, taxi drivers etc and thalf the time wonder why I did! I wish it wasn't a 'thing' and that these people just charged what they thought appropriate for the goids/service etc.

BARB060609 · 21/07/2017 20:36

Goods not goids.

MSLehrerin · 21/07/2017 20:43

GF means goady fucker as somebody else has previously pointed out. Showing off to get a reaction.

I'll reiterate: if you have paid and can afford £410 then a £40 tip should be the least of your worries @Ashkey234 tbh.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 20:48

That's like saying il buy £80 worth of food for asda so il just chuck £10 in the bin
If I can afford £80 of food then I won't miss £10 ..same thing.
FYI I got my property with H/A and registered with my L/A when I was single.

OP posts:
Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 20:49

We do benefit from it ..we wouldn't be able to live if we rented a private accommodation as we would have nothing left to actually live in.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 20:49

*on

OP posts:
MSLehrerin · 21/07/2017 20:53

So you wouldn't have tipped anyway @Ashkey234? Am now not sure what your point is. Loads of people have given you their viewpoint and you're still saying you wouldn't tip the "going rate".

My hunch is you've just come on to let us all know how much you spent. I've read your other posts now too.....😕

Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 20:57

FYI I got my property with H/A and registered with my L/A when I was single

Do the LA know you have a partner? Especially as he's forces and therefore away a lot?

I'm guessing you're going to say that they do....
