Walking home from work earlier this week in the glorious sunshine, I came to a lady paying for her parking. She rolled her eyes as I got closer and then fanned her face. I said "oh, I know, its a scorcher. She said " oh you don't, I have a fractured spine " she said this as she was trying to get into her car but she winced as she was doing it so I asked her if she needed any help with anything, even to walk with her to where she was headed once parked and to close her sunroof. Felt lovely for the rest of the day.

So when was your last good deed?

Or even if you where the recipient would love to hear about it.

Yesterday I tied an elderly woman's shoes for her. She was in a supermarket and shuffling somewhat, she could have easily trodden on one.

I have a neckbrace on due to car accident+whiplash, people have been offering their seat on the bus and stuff all week. It is nice to be treated with courtesy. But i do feel flipping useless Angry

I paid for a bus journey for a guy who didn't have a contactless card (can't pay by cash in London)

Questioningeverything · 21/07/2017 15:17

Woman with a side by side twin pram came to my bus stop and asked what bus I was getting. (I had ds in his stroller)
I replied and it turned out she wanted the same bus. Knowing it was a no to her getting on if there was another on the bus, I told her that I'd fold my stroller if that was the case so she could get to her appointment.
That exact scenario ended up playing out. She held ds for me whilst I folded up and she was amazed that someone would help. Her twins were gorgeous and she was lovely so it was nice to be nice.

found an american passport on road outside work. Rang embassy and was going to post it back as they recommended, but then did a facebook and google hunt and got it back to the person before they had even noticed it was gone. Even walked it down to their workplace!

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 15:25

You are all so lovely!

Doesn't it feel great to help someone. I was nearly looking for my next "deed"!

A lovely set of messages, makes you realise there is still good in this world.

A Royal Mail delivery guy had tried to deliver a parcel but I was out so he put a card through the door. A few minutes later he saw me driving back onto my estate (I do a lot of online shopping and have fun decals on my car so I think that's how he must have recognised me) and came back to give me my parcel. I tweeted Royal Mail and passed on a hugely complimentary message to his bosses.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 15:34

Soot that was very good of you. One good turn deserves another.

I received a parcel in the post this morning, no name just my address on grey plastic envelope. I rang the number on parcel and mins later it was given to the rightful owner.

She couldn't believe I'd done that. It was no bother at all.

I put three packs of sanitary towels and some a box of tampons in the donation tray for the local homeless charity. They ask only for hygiene items so I try and put this sort of thing in when I have some spare cash.

CodenameDuchess09 · 21/07/2017 15:49

I saved a little bird from a cat. I had to call the SSPCA because it couldn't fly, the officer thought it was just shock and should survive 😊

I saw a woman struggling with a buggy at the local train station (you have to go up the staircase, over the bridge and down the other side) and I asked if she wanted me to grab the front of it. She was lovely and very grateful and I was happy to help.

Now that I think about it, the steps were covered in grit due to the snow at that point so my next good deed is overdue Smile

Urubu · 21/07/2017 15:50

I stood in the rain with a lady who was waiting for the bus so she could stay with me under my umbrella.

Timeforabiscuit · 21/07/2017 15:52

Found a handbag at a town centre bus stop, looked inside and found an id badge for the local hospital - called the hospital but no luck tracking her down on the system.

Looked at her wallet and went to her bank for them to contact her from the branch, they managed to call her mobile and five minutes later she was gratefully reunited with her bag.

Shed only just moved to the area, started her new job yesterday - so I was very glad she wasnt faced with a lost handbag too!

Once I returned a load of bank cards that a cabbie was about to 'bin' - the guys was so happy. I also paid for a round of drinks when a student's card was declined. A whole tray of drinks had been racked up and she went bright red when her card was declined. I just couldn't help it.

zimbomaman · 21/07/2017 15:57

Just as school finished a couple of weeks ago the skies opened and there was a huge thunderstorm. I had a raincoat and umbrella for both my DD and me. A dad and his daughter were in a hurry but had neither raincoats nor umbrellas so I gave them my umbrella so they could dash home. I don't know them at all so was quite happy when the little girl caught me the following week to return the umbrella with thanks.

DC3 and I found some litter at the station and put it in the bin.

Our Y6 leavers (well, their parents) have been donating their uniform to the PTA as they leave. It makes me feel a bit watery eyed - PTA benefits from funds if people "buy" them, environment benefits from reduced waste, and families on lower incomes (or thrifty) benefit from cheaper uniform.

amusedbush · 21/07/2017 15:59

Oh, I tell a lie! That wasn't my last good deed. I found a driving licence so I looked the guy up on facebook, sent him a message and returned it.

wheresthel1ght · 21/07/2017 16:00

A lady in tk maxx was struggling to find 2p as they had no change in the till, I gave it to her.

She then dropped all her shopping off her zimmer frame so I collected it up and helped her put the money back in her purse

Meadowland · 21/07/2017 16:00

Recipient here. I underestimated the cost of my shopping and hadn t enough to buy my potatoes. I was going to put them back but the lady behind offered to pay for them for me!! I wanted to hug her. I immediately felt I wanted to do something good myself so next day put a load of money in a charity box- not even sure what the charity was!

Pickleypickles · 21/07/2017 16:08

A couple of weeks ago I saw a very old guy trying to push a broken down electric wheelchair /scooter thingy so pulled over folded it down put it in my car and gave him a lift home with it

Mama1980 · 21/07/2017 16:12

I gave a lady 20p to use the toilets, and I paid for the mans coffee after me in the queue in costa, I always try to do this, when I was a broke student years ago a woman did it for me and I was so grateful, I try to keep paying it forward.

gabsdot · 21/07/2017 16:13

I know a lady from Hungary who has just recently moved here. We go to the same church. She doesn't speak much English but I've been trying to make friends with her.
Yesterday I took her and her son to the zoo with my DD. They don't have much money and she's stuck at home a lot so I know she enjoyed the outing.
Actually today she texted to thank me and offered to do some housework or gardening for me so what goes around comes around I guess.

prettybird · 21/07/2017 16:14

Sent some tablet out of the blue to a couple of friends on a FB group that a member of: one of them had been my "Secret Santa" recipient and I'd sent her tablet as a wee extra but because she had gestational diabetes at the time had had to let the rest of her family eat it; the other had dropped lots of hints wanting to try some and had had a tough few weeks.

Over a year I like to send a few batches of tablet as RAOK. I even keep my disposable lenses boxes to put the tablet into (they fit about 20 pieces).

I'm currently expressing some milk that will go to a milk bank and then get given to premature and sick babies. I get through a lot of mumsnet threads while pumping.

Unicorn81 · 21/07/2017 16:29

I bought a parking ticket but as i was ill i decided not to go to the place i intended and gave my ticket to some tourists so they didnt have to pay and i went home
