Walking home from work earlier this week in the glorious sunshine, I came to a lady paying for her parking. She rolled her eyes as I got closer and then fanned her face. I said "oh, I know, its a scorcher. She said " oh you don't, I have a fractured spine " she said this as she was trying to get into her car but she winced as she was doing it so I asked her if she needed any help with anything, even to walk with her to where she was headed once parked and to close her sunroof. Felt lovely for the rest of the day.

So when was your last good deed?

Or even if you where the recipient would love to hear about it.

Wow Pigeon donating a kidney is an amazing thing to do X hope they both continue to do well x

Funnyface1 · 22/07/2017 17:19

I was a recipient recently. My car locked itself somehow leaving me outside but my phone, keys and baby inside! Some lovely people came along and lent me a phone and waited with me until help arrived. I was upset and having someone stay with me really helped.

Just back from helping set up our local Christian kids holiday camp in the pissing rain! not many had turned out and over 1000 kids arrive on Monday so feeling virtuous now.

Ragwort · 22/07/2017 17:26

I help at our local food bank which is only open once a week, I got a call from a school yesterday and a message that a family was desperate for food so I delivered two large bags to them and got absolutely soaked in the storm as their house was very hard to find.

Silverstreaks · 22/07/2017 17:58

I let a little lad doing the urgent wee dance go to the toilet ahead of me. I was secretly doing the wee dance too.

I found job that I would have loved but it was FT and I need PT (DH works away, childcare, no extended family) so I recommended a friend and she got it. Sadly karma has not rewarded me.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce How do you find out where your donated blood went.I have made nearly 100 donations and never been told where it went. I believe that most blood these days is converted into specialised products so i am not even sure that it could be tracked easily.

If you give them your mobile number they now text you with where it was used. I'm hors de combat at the mlmebt because I'm waiting for my levothyroxine dose to be finalised, but I should be back donating by the end of the year.

I always try and give homeless people money or sometimes food and a bottle of water . Mainly because I don't like ignoring another human being .

It can backfire - like the man who showed me his fetid wound yesterday . And walked off in disgust when I only game him a quid Confused

But I think that to nod , smile and meet their eye costs nothing

Two days ago we had a heatwave, unusal for scotland! A 5yr old boy was in the shop asking for a slush puppy, his dad said no. I gave the boy money for one. His dad scolded me and said I was never to go above him again
I felt awful but it was so hot! I felt for the kid

Floellabumbags · 23/07/2017 11:40

You gave him money when his Dad said no? I'm baffled, truly.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 23/07/2017 11:48

Why would anyone need to mow their lawn during precious contact time with their 7 month baby? I'm baffled by that one though perhaps not baffled that the guy is single.

CremeFresh · 23/07/2017 11:49

Train why on earth did you do that? Confused

Questioningeverything · 23/07/2017 11:55

Train.. that's not a good deed.
A good deed is watching someone's child because their useless ex refuses to parent their child so the mum can work. Even though you've only ever spoken to mum when you see them when your dc has swimming lessons

I was walking home a couple days ago and bumped into a woman at about 8pm who had clearly just left a local beer garden. She was pretty drunk and stumbley and I said asked if she was okay when I nearly tripped over her.

She asked for help and I ended up linking arms with her and walking her home while she moaned to me about someone. Gave me a big hug when I got her to her home Smile

DownUdderer · 23/07/2017 13:49

I'm confused about the boy who had skid marks in his pants

MrsHathaway · 23/07/2017 14:06

The other day my good deed was to share my holiday activities list with 25 friends (each by request). Today it was paid back to me as I've won a family pass to a local attraction, to be used any day in the holidays.

Someone sent a fan letter to my work one December (relevant), asking me to pass it on to one of our clients. She enclosed some stamps (way too many for a little letter). Anyway it was a big company and we could afford to send on fanmail without taking people's stamps.

So I sent her stamps back explaining, and she wrote back and said something like 'No one's ever done anything like that for me' bit over the top I thought, but hey.

But the best thing? This note came accompanied by a beautiful hand-painted Christmas card.

This was years ago but I still have the card and I still look at it and feel a bit warmer. Smile

Last week I was driving past a bus stop. In slow traffic, meaning there was lots of cars in front of me, when I noticed an old man had collapsed at the bus stop. I pulled over and got out, helped him up. He was ok but explained his legs were playing him up. I asked him where he lived. It was miles away and I was picking up dd from school. So the best I could do was to take him to his connecting bus stop ( he was getting two buses home ) which was on s major bus route and had seats. Afterwards I analysed if I should have done this as I had my other dd in the car but hey ho I did what felt right at the time and he was very grateful

This afternoon I made 60 sandwiches for a homeless outreach group I'm involved with to take out tonight, do that every Sunday.
Will also be going out with them tomorrow to do breakfast too.
Thankfully not my turn to cook tomorrow, it's a challenge making 30 sausage sandwiches and getting the kids ready and into school for 8.40am.

lionsleepstonight · 23/07/2017 19:59

I was on a full train and found a seat for an old lady who was left standing, and put her luggage away.
If I couldn't find her one I would have given her mine. I couldn't have sat in my seat and watch her swaying!

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 23/07/2017 20:04

Before Christmas when I used to commute for work I would see the same lady escorted to the station with her husband who would help her up the ramp onto the platform. One morning the crossing wasn't working and the lady was at the ticket office. Her husband explained to the guard that he normally walks her as she uses a stick but needed someone to mind their child, who was in a buggy, so he could walk her over the bridge. I said I'll make sure she gets over OK and me and the lady went off with arms linked and got over the bridge just as the train arrived.

I work in a university. I found a wallet in the street; student ID card, money, residence permit, credit cards etc. I felt a bit awkward about picking it up, but I did, went to the nearest cafe and e mailed him on my university account. He picked it up from me the next morning. Very grateful.

hungrytillater · 23/07/2017 20:13

I was paying for something in a shop and the cashier said how much she loved my rather unique purse, so I gave it to her. That was WEEKS ago...i need dome more recent good deeds!

ScissorBow · 23/07/2017 20:19

A lady in the park had a boisterous 3 year old and a very young baby. Baby wanted a feed and boisterous child wanted to play. I heard her coaxing her 3 year old back to the car and I offered to mind her while she fed the baby. I was paying forward a similar favour done for me. She was very grateful and we're now park buddies.
