To ask what/when was your last good deed?

Walking home from work earlier this week in the glorious sunshine, I came to a lady paying for her parking. She rolled her eyes as I got closer and then fanned her face. I said "oh, I know, its a scorcher. She said " oh you don't, I have a fractured spine " she said this as she was trying to get into her car but she winced as she was doing it so I asked her if she needed any help with anything, even to walk with her to where she was headed once parked and to close her sunroof. Felt lovely for the rest of the day.

So when was your last good deed?

Or even if you where the recipient would love to hear about it.

Countdown- that was definitely a good deed. Big or small they are all lovely. I always define a good deed as being doing something for someone else that has no benefit to yourself.

We were at a hotel and one of the guys there was really helpful. Later on, I heard him talking on the phone (he didn't know I was there) and he was freaking out that he needed to find $100 by the next day otherwise he was going to jail for 6 months and he didn't have it. So I tipped him $100.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 17:31

Makeitstop - that is wonderful!

hope I don't out myself. In pouring rain I covered a stranger's open car window with clingfilm Smile

Reunited a lost dog with his relieved owner and gave my 40th pint of blood yesterday - got home very late and realised I had left my Kindle at the donation centre. Drove there this morning and was so pleased that it had been handed in - as they say what goes around etc ..

MakeItStopNeville · 21/07/2017 17:35

Dandy, I LOVE that one!

A few weeks ago I was in the checkout queue at a pharmacy and mentioned to my DS that the lady infront was struggling with a babe in arms and packing her shopping. DS went round picked up the carrier bag and packed for her whilst she calmed the wriggling little one and paid.

I was super proud of him. ☺️

I gave my spare Nespresso machine to a work colleague today as he's just moved into a new apartment and needs to buy a lot of things, and is missing a good coffee.

As karma would have it we received a load of free capsules from a potential supplier which we both took home.

He's just sent me a picture of his first coffee in the new place. 😋

Always let people go in front of me in queues when I have a full trolley , especially if they are obviously on their lunch break

BatmansPrettierSidekick · 21/07/2017 17:54

Recently gave to the Booths supermarket food bank - tampax, toothpaste, big bags of pasta, weetabix etc....I did notice that some donations included pinto beans and a 6 pack of Evian Hmm

A young homeless man was looking for a change of clothes in my local charity shop (shirt and trousers). I was in front of him in the queue to pay so I paid the £3.50 for him. Hope the fresh clothes made him feel a wee bit better.

Sexykitten2005 · 21/07/2017 18:03

I posted some bras to brasnotbombs with new knickers I'd brought to match them.
And I brought a homeless woman a sandwich and a coffee this week.

DandySeaLioness · 21/07/2017 19:01

@Sexykitten2005 looking up brasnotbombs now! I have so many I could donate! thanks for the idea

I was on the up escalators at a train station, standing on the left. I saw a suitcase toppling down and looked up to see a (rather large) lady higher up on the right falling backwards, teetering on the edge of her step. We were the only people on the escalator and Without even thinking I moved to the right so she fell into me, her head landing in my lap, now she was almost vertical so her head would have hit the escalator step with a Lot of force if I hadn't broken her fall.

She hit me with such force that I started to Fall backwards and I remember thinking that I was going to get really hurt but I managed to scrabble and regain my balance. She was looking up at me in shock and said thankyou. I was also in shock and didn't say anything.

We got to the top of the escalator and someone pulled her off me - I realised I had about a minute to catch my train and ran off without even saying anything. I felt like a superhero!

The other day I saw a lady panicking because she couldn't find her small child, and she was carrying a baby too, so I held the baby so she could look faster. She found the child v quickly but we've all had that moment of panic!

Petalflowers · 21/07/2017 20:04

Saw a couple,of homeless people in a doorway yesterday. One look quite young, so went and bought a couple of packets of sandwiches, and some drinks, and gave them to them. The woman was surprised and thanked me (the lad had gone for a walk by the time I'd returned).

DJBaggySmalls · 21/07/2017 20:12

I overheard a local bloke saying his boiler was broken, so offered him our shower and washing machine.
Gave a quid to a homeless women, sat with her and chatted while she waited for a case worker from a local charity. Safety in numbers.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 20:18

Lovely thread, keep them coming :)

I'd just finished a pub shift and was in a take away getting some food. There had been an open air concert in town and a mum and daughter about 14 had got off the last train and were trying to get a taxi. Shortest wait was an hour. The poor lass was so tired she was almost in tears so I gave them a lift home. It was only 20 minutes round trip for me, if that, but massive to them.

Bluerose27 · 21/07/2017 20:42

I was reading this thread on the train on my way home today, found a visa card in the car park of the train station. I thought "here's my good deed" so I took the card home (nobody working in the station and it was a contact less card so I didn't want to leave it in case someone used it to shop with). Rang the bank, gave the card number etc and the guy on the other end of the phone in the bank told me to cut it up and bin it. He said there's no point trying to make contact with the card holder Hmm

Oh well, at least nobody will be spending his money.

Half a good deed...

Adopting some cats from the local cats protection (get them in just over 2 weeks!).

Every week during term time I give a lift to another child at my kids school (drop them all off at the same childminder) as her mum works in the opposite direction and has to get a bus (we were driving past them one morning and I thought 'this is silly...')

Gave blood yesterday. Think that might have been donation no.20.

CatsMother66 · 21/07/2017 21:47

Chatting to a mum with a dd in my ds's class last week, she hadn't realised it was inset day today and hadn't made provision for her 2 dds. I offered to have them both while she was working and so I took the three of them out to a local attraction today, my treat. Always look to help genuine people out if I can, it feels good to help.

QueenofLouisiana · 21/07/2017 22:15

I'm organising a tombola for a local sports club this weekend. They need to raise £1000s, I hope to get about £500.

SlipperyLizard · 21/07/2017 22:25

I had a booked seat on a packed train - no way was I getting to it without a struggle through the crowds, and I didn't have the energy. But an elderly man and his wife were stood in the corridor with me, he didn't look well at all. I have them my seat reservation so he could sit down. They were so grateful.

DH spotted a purse on the road in a car park late at night, I handed it into Tesco and googled the owner, emailed her from her business page to let her know where it was. Apparently it had a lot of cash in it! I only looked in it to find ID.

Warm fuzzy feelings all round.
