Walking home from work earlier this week in the glorious sunshine, I came to a lady paying for her parking. She rolled her eyes as I got closer and then fanned her face. I said "oh, I know, its a scorcher. She said " oh you don't, I have a fractured spine " she said this as she was trying to get into her car but she winced as she was doing it so I asked her if she needed any help with anything, even to walk with her to where she was headed once parked and to close her sunroof. Felt lovely for the rest of the day.

So when was your last good deed?

Or even if you where the recipient would love to hear about it.

small thing, tourists with cute baby trying to get a family selfie. So I offered to take a family picture for them, while on the way to a work meeting.

Rainontheflowers · 21/07/2017 16:35

Oh these are lovely Smile

Mine is only small - a few days ago dd and I had some cake in a local coffee shop. There were three mini lemon cakes for a pound, and we had one left over so gave it it a little boy before we left.

I also saw an old man picking up litter in the local park the other day, which I thought was so sweet of him.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 21/07/2017 16:38

Major good deed - gave my 18th pint of blood on 2/7 and found out on Wednesday, it was issued to Castle Hill hospital in Cottingham.

Whenever I'm out, I always smile at the people I pass! Sometimes they smile back, sometimes they don't but I don't care!

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 21/07/2017 16:45

Fostering kittens ATM so the last good deed I did was probably cleaning out their sodding litter tray. Grin

Apart from that it would have been very minor stuff - helping a woman with a pushchair off the bus and returning a sandal to an adorable but naughty toddler who'd kicked it out of his buggy.

Recently I saw a lady just about to take her dog into the vets, she also had a baby in a sling. The dog pooed and I saw her struggling to get out her poop bags as the baby was in the way. I offered to take the poop bag and clear up the dog mess for her, she declined but was exceedingly grateful at the offer.

PippaPug · 21/07/2017 16:46

Good deed - yesterday gave my 26th donation of blood and now waiting to see which hospital it will go too

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/07/2017 16:50

I rescued a crying child from the top of a climbing frame today. No one else seemed to be doing anything and he was quite upset and I am scared of heights but couldn't leave him there.

LakieLady · 21/07/2017 17:01

I was given a box of chocs and a bottle of wine by a grateful client yesterday.

Both were raffled off at work this afternoon and raised over £50 for the local food bank.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 17:02

These are so so lovely it warms my heart.

Today - I was getting off the train and a old lady was counting her change for the ticket machine,I don't think she had enough so I gave her my ticket

PickAChew · 21/07/2017 17:05

Stumping up the bus fare for a woman who had fallen foul of the madness that is our Sunday services - she hadn't realised that she couldn't do her full journey on a single operator on a Sunday, so owuld have needed a much more expensive multi-operator ticket and was in a complete panic about what to do next.

NorthStarAtMyFeet · 21/07/2017 17:06

I take languishing bees home and give them a solution of sugary water. The last one was yesterday.
Sadly sometimes I think it just prolongs their deaths but at least they are having something tasty.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 17:08

Yesterday in lidl I let a lady go in front of me as she was only carrying a few bits. When she was at the checkout she was counting out coins and I was ready to pay for all her shopping rather than what she was short. Took a second look and it looked like she was just using up change. That could of gone so wrong if I had of offended her!

I try to do a good turn every day (like every good Guider should) even if it's just something little. Last thing I actually went out my way to do was on my way to an interview a couple of days ago I was running really early (was for my perfect job so lots of nerves and set off way earlier than I needed to) I was just wandering around debating how early it is acceptable to be when i saw a lady looking for her dog, so i took her number and spent half an hour helping her look. Karma is clearly real as I got the job!

WhatWouldDarylDixonDo · 21/07/2017 17:09

A couple days ago the man in front of me at the till at supermarket was asking for a running total as he got near the end of his shopping. He got a £X with a couple items left and asked the cashier to put Y and Z back so he could swap it with A, what did that come to, etc...
I gave him £2 (that's how hard he was obviously budgeting) and just said "will this help?"
He seemed so grateful and didn't stop thanking me and even gave me the 24p change.

DoesHeWantToOrNot · 21/07/2017 17:09

I carried a woman's very heavy pram frame up a flight of stairs as she carried her tiny baby up as the lift wasn't working in the train station. She looked very distraught at how to get her and the baby etc up so as oh carried up our buggy I got that for her. She looked very relieved

Twerking9to5 · 21/07/2017 17:10

Lovely thread!

I'm a teacher and had several school made packed lunches left over after a trip. Couldn't bear to throw them away so found (eventually) a hostel to take them. Do love a good deed and am loving reading them!

TaggySits · 21/07/2017 17:12

Ran after a woman who had walked away leaving her handbag beside a park bench.

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 17:15

Twerk- lovely thread indeed and I am loving reading them too!

What a lovely bunch you all are.

My 13 year old ds1 had hidden and covered the skids in his pants with expensive no talcum powder. I picked them up and washed them in the washing machine. He's had so much support to help him with this. I think I was pretty fucking nice to do it. He said it was because his poo was soft. Like that's okay. I even showed him the thread on here with the fil who left skids in the bed and poo crumbs in the shower scrunchie , so he knew it wasn't just me and his dad that think it's disgusting. We're all going to get salmonella. Sad

Dh and I moved tables in a cafe the other day - we were on a low/normal table mid way through lunch when a family of 6 (5 adults one In a wheelchair and a baby in a pram) came in. They asked for a table and the only one available was a high table with stool type chairs meaning the lady in the wheelchair could sit there but not reach table.

We moved to the high table so they could eat.

Same day I also gave someone in the swimming pool changing rooms my emergency tampon (currently in pregnant so don't need it). Girl had gone for swim practice after my aquanatal swim class and I could hear her and her friend all "omg what am I going to do. Can't believe this has happened. I don't have one. WHere can I get one from now..." friend suggested she risk it and that sometimes swimming stems the flow. I took a guess at what had happened.

Apparently I "saved her life!!"

DontOpenDeadInside · 21/07/2017 17:17

Today, gave a dog walker a poo bag as she'd forgotten hers (she asked me)

Few weeks ago gave a lady 20p towards her bill as she only had a £10 note (it was £20.20) and the shop had no change. She was extremely grateful (bit too much actually, it was only 20p lol)

Countdowntofour · 21/07/2017 17:18

Love reading posts like this. The last kind thing I did for a stranger was let them go ahead of me in the supermarket queue this morn, so only a tiny thing 😊
One thing that stands out in my memory, was when dd2 was a baby - she'd absolutely deafen people with her screams. I was trying to do my weekly shop and she started screaming but I couldn't hold her and push the heavy trolley. I was well aware that people were staring, and getting stressed, and then an old man came up and offered to hold her while I finished my shopping. I graciously accepted and he followed me around explaining that he didn't see his grandkids enough and how he loved babies. That was about 6 years ago, still think that was really kind.

I was getting in to my taxi at Heathrow-already late for party I was throwing for DS. DH already fed up and in taxi. Noticed a girl, about 17 or 18, on her own, pacing and looking very vulnerable.
I went back and said "are you ok?"
she said no-her uber hadn't come and her phone just died and now she couldn't reach it.
I pulled my charger out of my bag and stood with her until her phone had enough charge to get her lift sorted out.
I felt like if I thought she looked vulnerable so would any low life and I hope if my DD is ever in trouble some kind MNer will help her...

A couple of weeks ago we were driving home, there was a car parked at the side of the road and we could see a guy walking down the road with a petrol canister. Stopped to see if he was okay, we couldn't offer him a lift the the petroleum station as we had the kids in the back but we offered to take the canister and fill it up. Did and took it straight back (would have taken the poor guy over an hour to walk there and back). He was even more grateful when DH refused to take any money for it.
