Walking home from work earlier this week in the glorious sunshine, I came to a lady paying for her parking. She rolled her eyes as I got closer and then fanned her face. I said "oh, I know, its a scorcher. She said " oh you don't, I have a fractured spine " she said this as she was trying to get into her car but she winced as she was doing it so I asked her if she needed any help with anything, even to walk with her to where she was headed once parked and to close her sunroof. Felt lovely for the rest of the day.

So when was your last good deed?

Or even if you where the recipient would love to hear about it.

The nana of one of the little girls in DS's group holding DD for me so I could calm DS down from a meltdown during the end of term concert, I could have cried, not alot of people offer that when you've got two screaming kids in public
I hope to pass it on in other ways then donating to charity!

MyheartbelongstoG · 21/07/2017 22:52

So glad I started this thread.

I helped an old lady that had fallen and hit her head and got her to the GP. And the normally scary receptionist was really kind to her

I was fortunately in my way to GP surgery too !

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 21/07/2017 23:31

And the other week when our whole tube was evacuated me and some other women helped a woman who semi collapsed on the escalator and got her up to the top -that was traumatic

A couple of weeks ago, I offered to carry home shopping for the elderly lady in front of me in the shop when she was told that the delivery service wasn't available. She gladly accepted my offer, but insisted that I take some money 'to get the children a little something'. It just didn't feel right to take her money; I discussed it with my children and my DS (age 9) suggested we donate the money to GOSH, because the lady had said the money was 'for the children'. So proud of that kid Halo.

My DH is in the hospital and I have been running back and forth to home between him and the DCs. When I got back to the hospital this afternoon, I paid for the parking of a couple of people who had just arrived at the car park.

CremeFresh · 22/07/2017 00:55

I cut my neighbours lawn for her and a couple of weeks ago went to pick up a MNetter from hospital and drove her home because her friend had let her down .

AfunaMbatata · 22/07/2017 01:04

I give the homeless money instead of tithing. Just do it cos tbh, their lives must be shit and I don't want to take choices (and therefore dignity) away by giving food.

MyheartbelongstoG · 22/07/2017 08:02

Sis, I hope your dh makes a speedy recovery :)

At work I helped a colleague as they were stressed to bits and near to tears. It was a time sensitive task so quicker to do it myself but told her that she will need to tell her supervisor she needs more training/help in that area. Got pulled up by my supervisor for doing work that wasn't my responsibility and her supervisor for doing her work for her. And there I was thinking we were all working for the same company and for the benefit of the customer. No good deed goes unpunished. But she was really thankful so that's one thing.

BellaVida · 22/07/2017 11:51

Was in the park with the DC and found a phone on the floor by the swings . Managed to reunite it with the owner, who was luckily still nearby.

Took in a couple of parcels for neighbours, which I do all the time. They must do all their shopping online!

lemureyes · 22/07/2017 12:49

Dropped off bits and pieces that I didn't want to a hedgehog rescue that were going to do a stall at a show.
About to order some bits on Amazon for them too. They have a lot of babies in that need care at the moment!
Just wish I could do some voluntary work for them but I can't risk it right now due to health 😢
Look them up on Facebook: Pricklebums Hedgehog Rescue

Also rescue drowning bees (always seeing them) and put food and water out for the birds.

Our next door neighbour is newly single and tends to have his dinner here with us once a week or so.

I always cook too much so it's really not a problem for us but he appreciates it. We've become really good friends since we've had this arrangement and he's making us some bookcases as a thank you.

We also watch his 7mth old baby if he needs to mow the lawns during his access time, or has to do overtime. It helps him out and I get a few hours of baby cuddles!! Def a winning situation for me :)

MummaTwinkleToes · 22/07/2017 16:16

Lovely thread Smile
Today after taking DS1 swimming I saw a young guy kick a couple of reusable shopping bags which were on the pavement near my car out of his way and continue walking. I looked in and found it was someone's swimming stuff and had a blackberry phone in one of this early cases that hold bank cards. Tried to turn it on so I could ring their house or a friend but couldn't work out how to use it so took it back into the school.

MummaTwinkleToes · 22/07/2017 16:17

Phone case not early!

ManyManyShoes · 22/07/2017 16:24

Not a big one. Donated to GOSH after the Charlie Gard circus. There are other sick children there that need the money.

BertrandRussell · 22/07/2017 16:28

I do loads of good deeds

And as I am currently unable to drive or do very much at all, it's brilliant to have all that credit in the "favours bank" Grin

Bubblysqueak · 22/07/2017 16:34

Driving home the other day when I saw a lady walking down the road. Her trousers had a button and zip at the back which were completely undone (trousers held up by belt only) so I pulled over and told her that her trousers were undone. Apparently they must have been undone for quite a while and nobody had told her Sad

BBTHREE76 · 22/07/2017 16:35

I helped a blind man into the local chippy (saw he was struggling and asked him where he wanted to be). Waited whilst he got his order and gave him a lift home. I also gave someone a fiver last week as he was close to crying as got to Asda fuel pumps with his petrol can (as ran out petrol) and had forgotten his bank card.

BBTHREE76 · 22/07/2017 16:36

The man I gave a lift home to was 84 and lovely btw - I don't generally just give strangers a lift 😬

MaMisled · 22/07/2017 16:38

I just volunteered DH to carry a little old lady's big bag of dog food right up the high street to her car. Does that count?!

Icanseethepigeon · 22/07/2017 16:48

I came across a weeping young woman at the train station once. Sat with her to make sure she was ok. She'd just learned that her Mum had a matter of weeks left to live. She was obviously very upset and I couldn't leave her. Ended up giving her a lift to where she was due to meet her boyfriend and let her cry to me - she was so lovely and obviously close to her Mum and it was so unbearably sad. Said goodbye with a hug knowing that her life was about to change Sad

Oh and not me but last week my DP gave his cousin one of his kidneys Smile Both doing fine Grin
