Miaoriely2017 · 19/07/2017 08:35

only answer if your comfortable but what rent is paid in different areas of the country?
Reading through threads and it's a bit of a eye opener.
I have a 2 bed in north east (social housing) and pay £330 a month
My boyfriend was talking about eventually moving further south (he works as a haulage driver and more work ) how much would social or private housing be down south?

Small 3 be terrace on the South East (not London) I pay £975 a month.

Pyjamaface · 19/07/2017 10:57

2 bed semi with a big garden £600 in Norfolk but I'm very lucky. Similar houses in my town are around £750/800 a month

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 19/07/2017 11:03

Private rent for a 2 bed flat or house around here (South Staffordshire) would be between £550 & £750 depending on the property.

Social housing rents are around £90 per week for a 2 bed and £110 per week for a 3 bed.

Juanbablo · 19/07/2017 11:31

£1000 per month. 3 bed semi Berks/Oxon border. We get it a bit cheaper because we rent from a friend.

Ninabean17 · 19/07/2017 11:39

I think the general concensus is the further south you go the more you cam expect to pay. I rent a 2 bed flat in the south east for £740pm. A friend rents in Leeds, 3 bed detached house for £450.

Cakesprinkles · 19/07/2017 11:42

10 years ago we were paying £1100 a month for a two bed maisonette in a very naice area of SW London in zone two. Those flats are now double the price each month. Our mortgage on our four bed lovely house 30 miles further out is less than that.

TravellingFleet · 19/07/2017 12:37

South-east, nice suburb in walking distance of a fast train to London. £1250 for a very swish 2 bed semi.

Kickhiminthenuts · 19/07/2017 12:47

Mine a 3 Bed Semi South East (not london) £1400 a month
1 bed flat £1100 a month
2 bed £1250 a month

We are now priced out the area, and by area i mean anywhere within 2 hours (I'm already an hour and a half away from my family). DH is self employed with 10 employees and DS although not SEN is not a child who will cope well with a move.

Its fucking depressing

brasty · 19/07/2017 12:50

£480 a month in scotland in a very small 3 bedroom council house in a "good" area.

AndNowItIsSeven · 19/07/2017 12:53

HA Four bed, 2 reception, large garden and driveway £442 a month in Liverpool.

TriJo · 19/07/2017 12:54

North London (zone 2), 2 bed in catchment for an Ofsted outstanding primary - we are getting an absolute bargain at £1150/month. 1600 is standard around here.

LL lives in Lincolnshire and doesn't keep a close eye on the market.

Kickhiminthenuts · 19/07/2017 12:56

trijo shit!!! your getting a right bargain, please tell me you are squirrelling the difference away because that rise will be painful when it comes.

NameChanger22 · 19/07/2017 12:58

Midlands. 2 bed terrace houses start at about £500 a month.

RubyWho · 19/07/2017 13:05

Agree with curlywurly re: London rent

Currently renting a 3 bed semi detached house in Zone 2 London, 2000pcm

About to move to probably the same Cathedral town in Hampshire that others have mentioned: 2 bed semi, 900pcm

No brainer.

Miaoriely2017 · 19/07/2017 13:05

Wow can't believe how expensive the south it.
I'm 5 min walking distance into Newcastle city centre so it's really handy.
I'm shocked how expensive the south is

Co. Durham. 2 bed semi-detached HA £320 a month (That includes water rates). Council tax £120 a month. Private rents about £450 for the same size house, but then water rates and council tax on top.

Jupitar · 19/07/2017 13:11

Bournemouth in Dorset £1300.00 pm for 3 bed semi

You can just got on rightmove and put various areas in to see the prices.

Rented accommodation gets snapped up really quick where I am, there was 10 couples fighting over my friends 3 bed terraced house with a tiny 3rd bedroom and tiny garden.

CremeEggThief · 19/07/2017 13:13

Also Co. Durham, about 5 miles from Durham City. Social housing- 2 bed terrace with a back yard is £296 4 weekly. Previously lived in a private rent 3 bed terrace 2 miles from Durham City, which was £500.

Crispsheets · 19/07/2017 13:14

Small 3 bed terrace house SW London £2275 a month

demirose87 · 19/07/2017 13:16

I have a medium sized 3 bed maisonette £391 a month. Moved from a terraced house in same area £575 private rent. Used to live in a 2 bed flat above a shop £350 a month. Liverpool area.

orangefeet · 19/07/2017 13:16

My daughter rents a small one bed flat in Brighton for £1000 a month

maralittle · 19/07/2017 13:19

I know of someone who rented a tiny studio - barely big enough for a bed and a wardrobe - for just under £1200. Think it was in Camden or Islington.

Also family that rent a 2-bed flat in Surrey for about £700/800 a month, but that's through a HA.

ThouShallNotPass · 19/07/2017 13:24

Last house was a detached country cottage. 3 double bed, pantry, cellar, garage and outbuilding, private driveway space for up to 4 cars. It was £350pcm. It was in Scotland. BUT, the central heating use was a killer. Old cottage took a fortune to heat.

New place is a 3 bed semi, no drive, garage or outbuildings etc but costs pennies to heat. That's £330 pcm. Scotland again.

sunshineintheclouds · 19/07/2017 13:25
