Miaoriely2017 · 19/07/2017 08:35

only answer if your comfortable but what rent is paid in different areas of the country?
Reading through threads and it's a bit of a eye opener.
I have a 2 bed in north east (social housing) and pay £330 a month
My boyfriend was talking about eventually moving further south (he works as a haulage driver and more work ) how much would social or private housing be down south?

Two bed Victorian terrace next to me has just gone in at £1500. Zone 4 London.

skyzumarubble · 19/07/2017 09:07

And for comparison we bought ours which is a three bed ten years ago and pay £950 in mortgage.

Private rent, 2 bed house in seaside town in South West Wales. £425pcm.

I don't rent (any more!) but my neighbours do: £1300 for a two bed, two bath house with a small garden and private parking in a nice area of sussex.

Nottinghamshire, 3 bed semi with large garden and drive, very nice area with great neighbours £650pcm

PNGirl · 19/07/2017 09:13

Medium town on the Wiltshire/Somerset border 8 miles from Bath - approx 650 for a 2 bed and 1k for the house we own (4 bed townhouse with garden and parking). In Bath itself it's about 750 for a 2 bed mouldy flat.

My in-laws live in Stamford, Lincolnshire and it's about 1200 for a family house.

catgirl1976 · 19/07/2017 09:15

NW coast. 3 bed with a loft conversion to make it a 4 bed. Terrace, decent size and a small garden £950 a month

thecraftyfox · 19/07/2017 09:15

Border of Yorks/Greater Manchester. Semi rural but commutable to Leeds and Manchester. £500pm for a two bed terrace with a garden but no parking.

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/07/2017 09:19

NDN has their house up for rent. It's a 1930s semi with 3 bedrooms, large garden and a garage in a quiet cul-de-sac. It's advertised at £925pcm, which is cheap for the area. We are between Bristol and Bath.

gingergenius · 19/07/2017 09:20

Large 4 bed on south coast £1475 a month

DownstairsMixUp · 19/07/2017 09:22

Kent coast, 650pcm for a two bed bungalow with garage, lots of on street parking and a garden.

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 19/07/2017 09:22

West Sussex, £1100 for a 3 bed semi, but it is, ahem, a bit 'tired'. If it was refurbished, new kitchen and bathroom etc, it would be more like £1300-£1400. We had to prove we earned minimum of £33k a year between us before they'd consider our application.

wurlycurly · 19/07/2017 09:27

2100 a month, 2 bed, London zone 2. That's considered very reasonable round here. Rents appear to be slipping in London now

LakieLady · 19/07/2017 09:29

Small Sussex town, approx an hour from central London by train.

1-bed flats: £750-£900 pcm

2-bed houses: £1,100-£1,400 pcm

3-bed houses: £1,300-£2,000

Parking a nightmare unless you live on one of outlying estates, so off-street parking adds loads to the rent.

WinterWinds001 · 19/07/2017 09:30

Tiny 2 up, 2 down with small courtyard and parking, seaside town in East Anglia. £525, but this is in the nice part of town, cheaper on the 'rough' side!

Cannot get my head around London prices!

BitchQueen90 · 19/07/2017 09:30

Private rent in a commuter town in the east midlands. Large 2 bed flat, first floor, no garden or parking. £425 a month.

frieda909 · 19/07/2017 09:33

London (Zone 1), serious 'mates rates' on a 2-bed flat that would otherwise cost at least £3000 a month.

I'm very lucky, I know!

Snoopingdh123 · 19/07/2017 09:35

The last place I rented was 2 years ago, small 2 bedroom flat £1,100pcm. About 25 miles outside of London but 'nice' part of the south east with direct 20 min train to central London.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/07/2017 09:36

East Midlands, walking distance to large hospital and university. Small 2 bed terrace with garden and off street parking £500 a month. Althoug my landlord could easily charge more.

RedTitsMcGinty · 19/07/2017 09:37

Two bedroom ex-council flat in Zone 2, London. £1650 pcm.

ButDoYouAvocado · 19/07/2017 09:39

Well you're going to hate me but 5 bed detached, £1200 just outside Glasgow. House prices were one ofthe main reasons we left London.

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 19/07/2017 09:40

SE housing association £795 pm. Still cheap compared to £1200 plus an agent would charge

OddestSock · 19/07/2017 09:41

North west, 20 minutes by train to Manchester in a small town. We have a large 2 bedroom flat that we pay £500 a month for (however it should probably be a bit more as we've been here 13 years & they've never put the rent up).

ButtMuncher · 19/07/2017 09:42

3 bed/2 bath detached house in Suffolk coast, £675.

Previously rented a 2 bed tiny cottage in Suffolk/Norfolk border for £575.

1 bed flat in Norwich was £550 in centre of town six years ago.

Five bed/three bath detached house in centre of Cambridge was £2000 ten years ago.
