Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Annesanstete - what a fantastic story! I meant Alan Rickman would have howled at that!

ShootingQuadrantids · 15/07/2017 09:56

Ed Balls total darling, warm and generous with his time.

Notevilstepmother · 15/07/2017 10:01

I met "Tracey" from Corrie at the height of her fame when I was working with vulnerable teenagers. She was at the train station and the lad I was supporting wanted her autograph. She was delightful and chatted to him, I was so impressed with her because she was obviously on her time off. Much nicer than her on screen persona!

So glad to hear Joanna Lumley is as perfect as I imagine her to be! How on earth did someone like her play Patsy Stone! 😂

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/07/2017 10:06

Wrt to Jools Holland, in my 20's (through work) I knew him quite well, he was utterly lovely. His parties were great Smile

Notevilstepmother · 15/07/2017 10:10

Met James Nesbit at a nice hotel when it was my 40th. I was so busy saying hello to his cute dog that I didn't realise who it was to start with. Didn't want to hassle him, it doesn't seem fair to intrude on people down time, but other guests did.

Agree. I'd be heartbroken if she wasn't. That woman has class you cannot buy, so to watch her as Patsy is amazing.

OlennasWimple · 15/07/2017 10:26

Bill Clinton. Frankly he could get just about anyone he wanted into bed with that charisma

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 15/07/2017 10:31

My husband met Ronnie Corbett in a hotel and had a drink with him. He said he was lovely and had funny stories to tell.
I've met Gregg Wallace from Masterchef, he was so sweet and chatted for ages.
Also had a photo taken with Milton Jones (comedian from Mock the Week), very quiet but a good sport.
Met All Saints last year after one of their concerts. Had a really good chat with them and they spent ages with other fans too.

I have to ask those of you who emailed people how did you get their email address?

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 15/07/2017 10:33

Met Lemar, he is absolutely lovely and has the most stunning eyes

Patriciathestripper1 · 15/07/2017 10:37

I had a top floor flat next door to Norman wisdoms house.
In the morning he would walk dow his drive to pick his milk up.
I'd be at window looking out for for my lift to work (he knew this as I didn't want him to think I was stalking him and let him know when I saw him at the shops)
He used to wave up and pretend to trip like he did In His films every time.
He was a lovely lovely man.

Back to Babs, I live not a million miles away from the studios where Eastenders is recorded. You often come across members of the cast in the shopping centres supermarkets etc.
Ds1 was working in a Sainsbury's Superstore during 6th form holidays. Babs came in tapped him on shoulder and asked if they had X he said sorry no we never stock that brand but we have Y She had a mini temper tantrum there and then in the aisle and finished up with "don't you know who I am?" "No" said ds "Should I?"
He did contemplate saying "whoever you are you are a very rude woman" but he wanted to keep his job!

Patriciathestripper1 · 15/07/2017 11:18

It always makes me wonder how people like that who are so horrible to everyone get the jobs that they do and manage to keep them!

Sincere apologies - MrEve has remembered (with research) the correct US arsehole he met via work was (shock horror!) Kanye West (married to KK) and NOT JayZ (married to Beyonce) - MrEve has to the best of his knowledge and recollection ever encountered JayZ and can offer no further comment at this time

chickensaresafehere · 15/07/2017 11:28

Mads Mikkelsen was just gorgeous & smelt divine too

goose1964 · 15/07/2017 11:32

I met Suzi Quatro at Reading back in the day, she was so nice

Elledouble · 15/07/2017 11:53

Noel Fielding was lovely and chatted to us for ages (probably slightly before the height of his fame). Taller than I'd expected too. Even let my sister touch his hair Wink

Miquita(?) Oliver who used to present T4 barged past me in a bar and gave me a filthy look.

Once locked eyes with Barbara Windsor while sat in a car outside my halls of residence, she was being driven past. Can't really comment on her character just from that though Grin

Benedict Cumberbatch was lovely when I told him how much I'd enjoyed the show he was just in. He was being ushered past by security but he gave me the twinkliest smile and said thank you!

Rob Bryson was very sweet and posed for pictures with us even though I think he was in a rush.

BoysofMelody · 15/07/2017 11:59

Oh and when we're on hissy fits, Carol Ann Duffy was spectacularly rude to a friend of mine, angrily demanded a member of the box office staff buy her an email cigarette refill (not specifying which one) and then threw a massive diva strop, reducing the young woman barely out of her teens to tears. Really classy.

Whileweareonthesubject · 15/07/2017 12:17

So pleased to read your story about Norman Wisdom, Patricia. I've been a fan since childhood and felt very sad when he died.

Frank Lampard, hugely rude. Trinny from trinny and Susannah was so rude as well but susannah was lovely

TSSDNCOP · 15/07/2017 12:25

Russell Brand was utterly lovely to my sister. She bumped into him at a very exclusive bar one night whilst she was mid-chemo. He, could have been all private members but instead he bought her and her friends drinks and told her about his own mum's treatment.

StylishDuck · 15/07/2017 12:38

Gregg Wallace once tried to get my SIL and her friend chucked out a restaurant because they were sitting too close to him (at the next table, minding their own business). Arrogant little prick. Probably pissed off because she didn't recognise him (she did, she was just being polite and letting him eat his dinner in peace!)

kkkkaty123 · 15/07/2017 12:44

I've met her twice working in retail. She was very rude.
