Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

@AprilLudgate30 He was very sweet and extremely flustered. Definitely buying last minute Christmas presents. It was essentially like I was briefly an extra in Love Actually.

LittleWingSoul · 14/07/2017 21:59

Amy Winehouse - RIP... My Mum clocked her in Camden one evening and ran down the street to breathlessly tell her she thought she had an incredible talent. Amy beamed back and said "ahhh thanks darlin'!"

She died two weeks later, poor soul.

Mummatron3000 · 14/07/2017 21:59

Prince William was a nice, normal guy.
Kate was friendly, though definitely emphasised the "poshness"
And I have it on good authority that Princess Anne sleeps entirely naked...will just leave you with that image Grin

AprilLudgate30 · 14/07/2017 21:59

@peachgreen that's what it sounds like! Like a scene from one of his films! 😁 It was nice of you to behave that way. 💕

YouTheCat · 14/07/2017 22:02

I've never really met any celeb or actor who was rude. The cast of Byker Grove (early 90s) were a bit up themselves though.

I've served beer to Denise Welch, Tim Healey, Jimmy Nail and Robson Green and they were all lovely.

I met John Rhys Davies at comic con and he was so sweet. Chatted for ages about my job and how proud he was of his dd.

James Cosmo (also comic con) was quiet but nice.

James Marsters chatted for ages.

Garrett Wang (Star Trek Voyager) signed an autograph for dd for her friend as he couldn't come to the convention and then tweeted him there and then and took a pic of him doing the signing.

Sylvester McCoy is lovely and very short.

Danny John Jules was so funny, with plenty of time for every one.

Ray Parks (Darth Maul) was so friendly, getting amongst the crowds and stalls and even did an impromptu lightsabre display.

All the GoT people I've met were fantastic.

Dave Prowse and a load of Star Wars people got a prop signed by everyone for a little boy in a wheelchair who was utterly gobsmacked.

I think there's a few more I've forgotten but they were all nice people.

Dee03 · 14/07/2017 22:02

Roger Daltry - my dad did some building work for him years ago and said he was friendly

Bruce Forsyth on the other hand was an arrogant tosser

I met Julian Clary and Joe Pascuale (can't spell) at the stage door after their shows years ago and they were both lovely and chatty

MrsToddsShortcut · 14/07/2017 22:04

I have it on good authority from a friend who worked with him that Michael Sheen is utterly lovely, genuine, friendly and makes time for everyone. Is also apparently charming and generous with everyone who approaches him for autographs and pics.

Dee03 · 14/07/2017 22:05

Oh and Peter Andre (I know he's not a mn favourite) is always around my home town and he's lovely, never heard a bad word about him plus his brothers are all friendly and nice too

MargoChanning · 14/07/2017 22:10

Alicat - i was in a black cab in central london 3 years ago and asked the driver who the nicest sleb was that he's had in the back of a cab. He replied 'tom hiddleston'.

He'd asked tom hiddleston how he coped with the downside of fame and he recited the poem If by Rudyard Kipling.

www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46473/if---

Cabbie said he was thoroughly lovely and down to earth.

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 14/07/2017 22:10

Can't stand BW. She used abortion as contraception and whilst I absolutely agree that you should be allowed to choose, I don't think it's ok to persistently do it.

peachgreen · 14/07/2017 22:12

So jealous of @NoraCharlesMartiniGlass for meeting Keanu Reeves! He's my absolute fave.

Billy Connelly was lovely to my DB when he was little - shame other people have found him otherwise. He certainly had demons for a long while.

Someone mentioned Alan Rickman - anyone who works in / goes to the theatre a lot will tell you that nobody turned up to support young actors as often as Alan Rickman did. I must have seen him and his wife at the theatre over 30 times and I personally know half a dozen actors who received cheques from him to help put them through drama school - there are loads more out there. He was a properly good person and so generous with his time and money. Plus always gracious to fans who approached him. Any time i saw him with kids, he did the whole thing in character as Snape! So cute.

peachgreen · 14/07/2017 22:13

Ooh a friend of mine made out with Hiddles (pre-fame) and said he was a lovely kisser with "giant hands"... Wink

CremeFresh · 14/07/2017 22:13

Dee03 my DD is friends with Peter Andre's brother, she says he's lovely.

JonSnowsWhore · 14/07/2017 22:16

Erm youthecat I'm going to need some elaboration on the GoT actors!

Daniel Radcliffe always said that Alan Rickman was an amazing person when they first started working on set, im so glad he was a good one

slinkysaluki · 14/07/2017 22:16

Paula Yates not very nice
Michael Palin lovely
Dale Winton nice
Kenny Ball nice
Boy George bitchy

slinkysaluki · 14/07/2017 22:17

Sean Connery rude

redexpat · 14/07/2017 22:18

Nigella Lawson wrote in her column that my sister was the kind of woman who in her 30s would be advertising in the small ads for a man with a good sense of humour.

BabychamSocialist · 14/07/2017 22:21

I'll never forget meeting Alan Rickman. I'm quite active in left-wing politics and my union and his partner (later wife) was a Labour councillor, so I met them quite a bit over a few years. He was always absolutely lovely and he was great with kids, even when he was in the biggest film franchise ever!

GallicosCats · 14/07/2017 22:22

Met Harriet Walter at work. She was absolutely lovely and charming and very appreciative of our advice. Smile

Elphame · 14/07/2017 22:23

Anthony Head is lovely. DD exchanged some pleasantries with him once whilst they were both queuing to pay in a shop. He lives close to me and I've never heard a bad word said about him locally

ShelaghTurner · 14/07/2017 22:23

Nigel Havers was utterly lovely to me. Met him at a backstage party for a play Stephen Tonpkinson was in (also lovely) and he was exactly as you’d expect him to be.

Have met a lot of the Call the Midwife cast and (with one exception who I won’t name) they’ve all been lovely, especially Laura Main (Shelagh) who chatted for absolutely ages and was so friendly. Stephen McGann is lovely too but mad as a bicycle and never shuts up Grin.

Have met loads of people over the years and about 98% of them have been lovely. It’s the ones who haven’t that stick in the mind (Bernard Cribbins). Just as a side note, Dara O Briain said that he’s so sad when people just ask for a selfie with him then bugger off. He said people don’t chat anymore, they just want to pic to show their mates.

pootlepootle · 14/07/2017 22:24

Johnny Morris was absolutely horrid. that burst my bubble I'll tell you.

gingergenius · 14/07/2017 22:26

Pootlepootle noooooooo! I'm devastated now!

Seniorcitizen1 · 14/07/2017 22:26

Wasnt she a gangsters moll. Cant act cant stand her

GuiltyPleasure · 14/07/2017 22:28

DD was in a panto with Graham Cole (Tony Stamp off the Bill) & Gareth Gates. Graham was lovely & spent loads of time with the kids. I messaged him on Twitter to say how much DD had enjoyed working with him & he responded with a lovely message about what a delight it was to work with such talented, professional kids & he's now one of my Twitter followers! Gareth on the other hand didn't give them the time of day (he was also ridiculously orange).

Eric Cantona was a guest at a charity event I attended. He was only supposed to be there for an hour but he spent at least 4 hours there & was absolutely charming.
