Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Yeah he wasn't very pleased uppity Grin.

cassiewoo · 14/07/2017 21:37

Judge Rinder is actually lovely.
Alan Carr was so lovely and friendly.
Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton. Met them years ago when we were all pissed up in the pub. Really friendly when we asked for photos.

CarbonMint · 14/07/2017 21:38

I got a hug from Antony Head. He's lovely. And Peter Egan. They both attended a demo I was involved in organising.

11122aa · 14/07/2017 21:38

My parents also saw Julie Andrews filming a christmas special in Austria in the 1980's. When someone in their travelling party asked for her autograph she stuck her finger's up at him.
The Kemp brothers are apparently lovely.

cassiewoo · 14/07/2017 21:38

Greg Rutherford-gorgeous to look at and really friendly.

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2017 21:40

Michael Caine is utterly charming as is Boris Becker, Seb Coe and Joanna Lumley. Terry Wogan was so in spades.

An old bf was at Dartmouth with Prince Andrew and said he was a nice bloke trying to get out. Prince Philip I understand is v down to earth and helpful.

Chris Barrie, aka Rimmer, quirky and a very good kisser.

Timothy Dalton, quiet and nice.

Pete Murray and Amanda Burton v nice - same for Nick Clegg. Patricia Hayes and Cathy Burke girl nice but bonkers and needed an introduction to soap.

David Mellor was actually really nice as is Theresa May. John Major was charismatic and delightful. Cameron was an out of touch twit.

Alex Ferguson was difficult but OK. Maxwell profoundly vile, Terry Venanles wide and slippery, Alan Sugar is great.

Bruce Forsyth is utterly vile. Darcy Bissell is the antithesis of him.

Ann Fine is incredible. When dd was 11 she gave me a letter to send to her. I didn't know what was in it but suspected dd was being bullied and popped it in an envelope with a covering note. Ann Fine actually phoned me up, told me about her daughter's, gave food advice and sent dd a wonderful letter and some lovely things Halo

BabychamSocialist · 14/07/2017 21:41

Happy to say Joanna Lumley is lovely! Nothing like Patsy sadly, but a lovely woman who does a lot of brilliant charity work and always finds time for people.

dontslouchdarling · 14/07/2017 21:41

cassiewoo depends on your idea of lovely I guess. That wasn't my experience at all. And he's not a judge.

OverTheHammer · 14/07/2017 21:41

Jonsnowswhore - she's so posh - so elegant but at the same time, so down to earth 😄 I think she's amazing!

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2017 21:42

Good advice.

Dawndonnaagain · 14/07/2017 21:42

Anyone who remembers Adam Faith?
My aunt was a model in the sixties and she went out with him. He used to read me bedtime stories; I was about eight. He was lovely!

Sugarformyhoney · 14/07/2017 21:42

As a waitress the rudest person I ever met was Jim Davison- did the whole clicking fingers and ' do you know who I am'
Nicholas Lyndhurst is super rude and arrogant
Dannie minogue was awful
Denise van outrn was up her own arse
David Essex was lovely
Kerry Katona ( I know not really a sleb) was lovely
Alf garnett was great

PoorYorick · 14/07/2017 21:42

Happy to say Joanna Lumley is lovely!

Even if she weren't, I'd still worship her for the work she's done for the Gurkhas.

JonSnowsWhore · 14/07/2017 21:45

Ah well, I shall have to live on as Patsy for her Grin one of my fav TV characters. & can we just mention how amazing she looked even dressed as a man in the film!

Seren85 · 14/07/2017 21:46

I've just remembered this, can't believe I forgot. Years ago I emailed Judy Blume, it was quite gushy because I was a huge fan growing up. I didn't expect a response but she replied in minutes and was very gracious and asked my thoughts on the characters in my favourite book (Summer Sisters) and we exchanged a few more short emails. I love her!

Somersetlady · 14/07/2017 21:47

I found Sir Alec Ferguson to be charming company. Arrived late to an event and was in the chair next to him. Introduced ourselves and I apologised said if you want to move feel free I have no interest in and know nothing about football. He said that sounded just perfect and we had a lovely afternoon with him and his brother in law he apoke mostly about his children, 11 grandchildren his wife and his ljve of horseracing. To be fair I can understand how annoying it must be the poor bloke could hardly get his fork from the plate to his mouth without ANOTHER fan coming up and asking for a picture of his autograph and he didnt sign up to be famous he signed up to manage a football team! It was annoying me by desert as people kept asking me to take the photoslet alone poor Fergs who has to put up withit on a daily basis

Stand out lovelies were Jilly Cooper, Jeffry Archer and Bill Clinton (both suprisingly hot) Jamie and Harry Rednap, Rhiana who I met in a club in the Hamptons and got chatting to not having a clue who she was and ended up spending most of the evening in her charming company!

Not so lovely katie price and The ex Mrs Jeremy Kyle. The Blonde one who used to play DC Jo something in The bill.

All others have been normal enough to not stand out in memory and due to work and my hobby there are plenty of them.

gingergenius · 14/07/2017 21:47

Oh I remember that Neil gaimain replied to one of my tweets once!

PoorYorick · 14/07/2017 21:50

I know someone said Sean Connery was an arse, but I read an interview with a filmmaker (might have been Anthony Mingella, I can't remember) who remembered trying to sneak into a screening somewhere as a kid, was about to get slung out and Sean Connery told security to let him stay.

11122aa · 14/07/2017 21:53

I briefly met Seb Coe. Surprised I forgot that at first. He seemed nice. Also saw tony Blair when he came to my school who was nice.
At College one of the staff close relative was a good friend of John Major. He said he was always lovely when he saw him and always had time to debate even through said staff member had quite different politics.

peachgreen · 14/07/2017 21:54

I used to work in quite a swanky shop and served lots of celebs. My fave was Colin Firth who came in on Christmas Eve and looked beside himself with desperation not to be recognised and was very shy and awkward (though unfailingly polite). I pretended not to recognise him and at the end of the transaction he squeezed my arm quickly and said "thank you SO much" with deepest gratitude and hurried off before the girls behind him had worked up the guts to approach him!

DH used to work in theatre so we've met / hung out with lots of actors who work in the theatre. Most stories would be too outing but I will say that Steve Pemberton is a bit of twat and Sam Barnett is an utter delight. Mark Rylance was also thoroughly unpleasant when DH worked with him but a) he's so talented he gets away with being a bit of a diva and b) by all accounts he's mellowed a lot lately.

BabychamSocialist · 14/07/2017 21:55

Never understood the attraction to Dan Stevens until I met him. Lord, he is absolutely lovely and such piercing eyes too! Without a doubt one of the nicest celebrities - this was just after he'd left Downton too, so you could forgive him if he'd have been at the end of his tether, but he wasn't.

Hermonie2016 · 14/07/2017 21:56

Stephan Mangan (Green Wing) is just lovely, very calm and kind.

Sarah Jessica Parker was really hands on with her son when he was a toddler. She is tiny, height and body shape.

peachgreen · 14/07/2017 21:56

Ooh and my auntie was an air hostess and her absolute most loathed ever customer was Noel Edmonds. I couldn't post on this thread what he did because MNHQ would have to delete it but suffice to say, he's vile.

AprilLudgate30 · 14/07/2017 21:56
