New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Rather endearingly, when the judge says GOSH, he pronounces it "gauche". Anyway he's risen again for 10 mins while parties seek agreement.

The judge is well posh. He pronounces GOSH 'gauche'. According to SkyFixerJim.

Gard: case adjourned for further 10 minutes to see if parties can agree arrangements for the experts' meeting next week.

CA

This is good news. She can still make notes during the meeting. I would expect that legal teams be present also and she will be able to pass notes to them if she feels something is not right. Don't agree with this doctor being named as no other names have been to the media unfair I feel and should not have been allowed. Anaminity for all in involved or name all involved can't be one ruling for one and another ruling made for this doctor. Still were moving forward well done all involved today in court. Especially Connie and Chris 💙 God bless stay strong and all keep praying for Charlie xx

Says the group who on several occasions named the GOSH consultant and it was left to stand for some time before removal.

'the judge is well pauche'

WankYouForTheMusic · 14/07/2017 15:45

Nobody's moving Charlie far without permission, not the state he's in. It wouldn't be a case of grabbing him and legging it.

GoingSlightlyCrazy09 · 14/07/2017 15:46

I have utter sympathy for the parents here, to be attending such legal proceedings and knowing it's about your child is unimaginable. But their ignorance is astounding, they are claiming to have better medical knowledge of their child than a world leading hospital and the court is completely dancing to their tune. I'm equally horrified and amazed.

stitchglitched · 14/07/2017 15:46

This is a farce. The parents are being allowed to basically accuse dedicated professional doctors of lying or covering stuff up if she isn't there to monitor it. I understand the judge is trying to be gentle but I really think a stern word on the doctors defence is in order.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:46

hilarious ca are offering to be the indepnant witness at th meeting

Rocksyluv · 14/07/2017 15:48

Relieved to hear the expert is a professor from Cornell University, he is likely to be at the top in his field of expertise, the creme de la creme. , I was worried it might have been from some unknown research lab.

Ellie56 · 14/07/2017 15:48

I keep wondering what would happen if Charlie slipped away while they were all busy arguing the toss...

WankYouForTheMusic · 14/07/2017 15:48

I know, that was ridiculous. Then another one of them is like, how do you know she's not independent. Erm, BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN TWEETING CONSTANTLY ABOUT THIS AND SHE'S ALREADY EXPRESSED A VERY CLEAR OPINION.

People are thick.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 14/07/2017 15:48

If they try this meeting and CY disrupts it or controls it to the point that meaningful discussion can't happen, or medics feel unable to speak openly through sensitivity to her - particularly regarding the areas of discussion they most need to have, which are the ones the family are most distressed by - then what? Her presence can't help but be intimidating and pressurising towards anyone with anything to share that doesn't support the family's narrative.

Frankly I'm starting to think if they're going to delay and delay and mess around like this while Charlie goes on suffering to tiptoe around the parents needs and bloody endless rights, then just stuff the poor child on a plane and let the family do whatever the hell they want, they might as well. Charlie's suffering either way.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:48

wll thats bollocks isnt it rabbit

Someone said how is it appropriate the parents can refuse scans and doesn't that impact on charlie's care?

I'm not a doctor but i fully imagine that clinically charlie hasn't needed scans in a long time. Why would he? It was agreed a long time ago that he had massive brain damage and a terminal prognosis. You don't need to keep scanning a baby in that state. The scans as far as i can see are only relevent because of all the fuss of the court case. Still morally wrong for the parents to block it but not regarding his care. Only the outcome/decision that is being made.

Also the fact the judge has said he has to make a decision about Charlie being moved. I'd like to think on one level that is being done to take some of the pressure off the doctors. So C and C can't pressure the doctors or cry and plead in front of them to please change their minds at the last moment. Which, being fair to the parents, of course is going to happen when the day arrives to turn off the life suport. I think the judge is trying to ease the medic's burden. I could be wrong. The parents seem so far gone in all this that the judge is just making clear where the boundaries lie.

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 15:49

Muckypup it is OK the pastor is sitting behind them in the Court.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:50

I missed this bit:

Butler-Cole: could we have an independent chair for the meeting? Judge: good idea.

but its relvant dlft

thyre saying hes not brain damage with no proof no tests
