New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Judge: Dr Hirano has been involved in Charlie Gard case long before the White House got involved, despite a media report to the contrary.

Anyone know what happened to the Italian bod who was due to speak yesterday btw?

His birthday is coming up soon. There is no way anything will be done around that date. The emotional gauge will have completely imploded by this point in time.

I thought the law was supposed to be above all this type of thing. The objective voice of reason must prevail otherwise the judicial system will be over run with these types of cases.

I really don't know what they expect this treatment to achieve.

Why is this all about the mother and the meeting. Has the father said anything about the clinician's meeting. I'm getting very confused now.

In a way if they were stupid enough to do so they would kill him. A murder / manslaughter charge is exactly what some of them deserve and I would stake my life on it that any one of CAs members would then agree with everything GOSH has said and argue that Charlie was severely brain damaged , going to die anyway to save their own skin.

I think it would be a mistake to have Connie physically in the meeting. If she has an outburst then she would have to be physically removed. Not what anyone wants to see happening.

Rather endearingly, when the judge says GOSH, he pronounces it "gauche". Anyway he's risen again for 10 mins while parties seek agreement.

On the subject of MRI scans ... my son died from mitochondrial disease. An initial MRI showed his brain to be perfectly healthy. 6/9 months later we had another MRI done. It showed vital areas were paler than before. Therefore showed brain deterioration. The comparisons between two scans are vital I suspect this is why they are refusing the second scan. They are happy with their until scan that shows a fine brain structure.

unweaved do you know how long it would take for the same process here?

Given that GOSH were part way through taking it to ethics approval for Charlie earlier in the year and have used this treatment on others it could be given here. I don't see how it would be in Charlie's best interests to have to travel to the US.

Oh FFS they've adjourned again.........this is madness, utter madness. If the Judge lets them attend, it really will have descended into farce. How many clinical meetings allow parents/relatives to attend???! None, for valid reason.
