New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Even if we disagree you cant say the parents aren't trying to put him first

Actually I think I can say that. I think that they are not putting him first.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:33

Judge working hard too. "Postulates an idea" that Mrs Yates be there but completely silent in an effort to find concensus.

santa I think yes, he could die at some point soon anyway, a ventilator will be no good if his organs shut down. And if that happens then I think Chris and Connie will have a whole new level of grief to deal with, as this is not the way his last days should have been, and it really didn't have to be this way.

I keep thinking and hoping that they will have enough of a glimmer of rationality to do the right thing for their son, say their goodbyes and let him go. He is in fucking real life purgatory right now.

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 15:33

Is Connie interrupting the medics in court?

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:33

Oh my goodness it gets worst and worst, I can see the judge getting very pissed of with all these demands.

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 15:33

Soz, misunderstood. It's ref the meeting.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:34

Can you agree, he asks, otherwise I'll rule on it.

OP posts:
drivinmecrazy · 14/07/2017 15:34

And if she cannot remain silent or causes disruption can she or should she be held in contempt of court?
I'm sure she couldn't be but I think maybe she should.

The High Court judge says he plans to give his decision on 25 July
American specialist who has offered to treat Charlie Gard is due to examine the terminally ill baby next week
Michio Hirano is scheduled to visit Great Ormond Street Hospital on Monday
The judge lifted an order which barred journalists from revealing Dr Hirano's name
Charlie's parents had said they were worried publicity might put pressure on Dr Hirano

The issue with her being there - even if silent - is that it may well compromise the ability of the Doctors to speak openly.

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:35

SantasLittleMonkeyButler, yep its a no win situation anway, theres no winners, they will all come away not good, whatever the outcome.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:35

Gollop QC: could Miss Yates dial in and listen to the discussion? Judge: she needs to see what's taking place.

As PP suggested...!

If nature did take it's course and that poor little baby's body gave up, what's the betting the CA crowd would then be accusing GOSH of murder.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:36

she wont just sit thre thyv alreay had to ask for no interruptions in court

so why would that change in a meeting

alpacasandwich · 14/07/2017 15:36

If she only wants to listen she can't refuse Gollop's suggestion..

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 14/07/2017 15:36

Looking at pictures of yesterday's "protest" on the CA group... it astounds me that a bunch of people who can't even make the "C" sign the right way around think they know better than world-leading medical experts. The world has gone mad.

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 15:36

Muckypup I wondered about the pastor too. He's probably been called back to America on urgent business.

unweavedrainbow · 14/07/2017 15:36

Btw, it wouldn't take 90 days for FDA to approve treatment. The FDA states that in order for an unlicensed medication to be approved for "first use"/on compassionate grounds the patient would be expected to only live for "a matter of months" without this treatment-this is normally quantified as "90 days" by doctors. I expect that the FDA would rush this though really quickly and they approve 99% of requests (this is far more than most medicine regulators but is largely to do with the fact that the FDA is very very slow when approving medication, but also that many US clinical trials are not open to under 18s).

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 15:36

Charlie's parents had said they were worried publicity might put pressure on Dr Hirano

What about the staff treating Charlie and the pressure that they have been deliberately put under by the campaigns?

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:36

cjt110, that is the sensible thing to do, at least they cant accuse Gosh of lying then, I am still sure they will say something negative.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:37

Charlie's parents had said they were worried publicity might put pressure on Dr Hirano

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:37

Gollop QC: no difficulty if she is merely listening. GOSH would prefer an experts' meeting in order to provide best evidence.

OP posts:
muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:37

Lightlovelife, maybe he just diddnt make enough out of it lol

11122aa · 14/07/2017 15:37

They would. And then the fear would be Trump would do the same.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 14/07/2017 15:38

There is no way she would be able to sit in on that meeting without becoming distressed, angry and jumping on any line of discussion that was contrary to their case - sadly that's been proved repeatedly. The whole point of her insistence on being present is to prevent conversation she cannot control the direction of. Sad

This really is turning into a mess.
