New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Perhaps they'll use the previous scans/tests - you can gain a fair amount of information from a series of scans e.g. demonstrating that growth is slowing down, brain function lessening.

I just feel so, so sorry for the staff at GOSH; I can't imagine how they have managed to continue to work in such an awful, hostile environment- they must be dreading going to work, having to deal with the parents. The stress must be enormous.

Lexieblue · 14/07/2017 15:14

Can charlies guardian not insist on scans being done?

stitchglitched · 14/07/2017 15:15

The parents have been given an awful lot of latitude because of the sadness of their circumstances. But surely enough is enough now, this is supposed to be about Charlie. I'm feeling so sorry for the other parents with children in the PICU, the atmosphere must be awful.

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 15:16

Gabs she is a qualified carer, so retraining shouldn't take long. Confused

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:16

why wait a whole week aftr the meeting to decide though its just more needless suffering for him

Holliewantstobehot · 14/07/2017 15:16

I think the not allowing him to be moved thing is if at the meeting GOSH agree that treatment should after all go ahead Charlie shouldn't just then go without the courts knowledge.

stitchglitched · 14/07/2017 15:17

I'm avoiding the CA fb page now, they are bad enough on twitter.

Redglitter · 14/07/2017 15:17

I'm just catching up just now. Why on earth are the parents refusing a scan?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/07/2017 15:17

Indeed Hmm

Cococrumble · 14/07/2017 15:18

Marking my place to catch up. Poor Charlie Sad

User843022 · 14/07/2017 15:18

'And still little Charlie suffers ... apart from the wonderful staff at GOSH, isn't anyone interested in putting him first at all ??!!! '

Even if we disagree you cant say the parents aren't trying to put him first.
I believe Charlie is on morphine as we all know that's a very strong opiate to manage pain and suffering.

It is all so very protracted, I cant quite believe the to-ing and fro-ing. It all seems such a mess.

11122aa · 14/07/2017 15:18

Gosh is scared of the international backlash in countries where rabid 'pro lifer's' have a lot of power.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:19

light my dsis in law is qualifid carer has been for 20 years doesnt mean sh can becom a doctor ovrnight

Ellie56 · 14/07/2017 15:19

He doesn't need to be moved if he has the treatment here. GOSH were considering giving the treatment to him before they discovered about the brain damage months ago.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/07/2017 15:19

Why on earth are the parents refusing a scan?

I'd have thought that was all too obvious, given their complete refusal to accept GOSH's prognosis Sad

NannyOggsKnickers · 14/07/2017 15:20

Red I imagine it is because the tape method gives a better reading I.e- shows more growth (which could in fact be swelling)
Surely the US expert will want a fresh scan to work with.

Albadross · 14/07/2017 15:20

Lightlovelife Someone (Armstrong I think?) said this:

"There is, he says, some suggestion of "imaging" of Charlie's head being done. If that can't be done then a tape measure will be used."

and it didn't look as if that was challenged. I'm hoping that the judge will not allow this to be taken as a scientific measure Confused

GoingSlightlyCrazy09 · 14/07/2017 15:20

This is getting more and more complex by the minute. I'm bewildered why the Judge isn't ordering tests that will give conclusive proof of Charlie's current medical status......surely that is the crux of this whole case?

alpacasandwich · 14/07/2017 15:20

He's on morphine for the pain, but as he is totally unable to communicate nobody has any idea if that morphine is sufficient.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:21

Is the treatment GOSH are able to administer for a different strain?

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2017 15:21

wtf does it mean charlie must not be moved without nudge knowing? Has he gone the treatment route???

I think it's that if GOSH change their minds about the course of treatment for Charlie then the can't overrule the previous court decision. It would have to go back before him to get him to overturn it. Even if all clinical and are in agreement the April ruling prevents Charlie being given nucleoside treatment.

Lexieblue · 14/07/2017 15:21

Could anyone in the legal know tell me, theoretically if Charlies appointed guardian insisted on scans being done, would they have to be done? Or would What judge said over ride that?

Redglitter · 14/07/2017 15:22

So despite them being adamant his head is growing they won't allow a scan which will confirm it. Ffs this is a farce. Can't understand why the judge won't just say it's to be done

I bet GOSH rue the day they allowed them those extra few days to say goodbye

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2017 15:22

No it's the same treatment cjt

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:22

thats what i mean how can a witness judge how bad he is if no scans have been done recently
