New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Armstrong says he wants to talk to his clients about possible attendance at the experts' meeting. Court adjourned for 15 minutes

Maybe a solution could be Chris and Connie watch the meeting live via Skype. Stop them accusing a cover-up but prevent them disturbing it.

sodablackcurrant · 14/07/2017 15:03

If judgement is given against the parents on 25th July, my guess is that the judge will rule that life support must be withdrawn within 10 days or something like that.

That will get him to his first birthday.

I know this is going to sound awful of me, but that is the best outcome I can think of right now.

However, that is ten days of CA uprising too though isn't it.

Terrible that it is so public. When you think of all the heartbroken parents who have had to make the decision to discontinue life support out of the limelight with no public dramas.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 15:03

Its ok - thanks for your help Mucky

11122aa, good idea.

NannyOggsKnickers · 14/07/2017 15:04

That seems like a fair proposal 111

Lexieblue · 14/07/2017 15:04

Thanks cjt!

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:05

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 14/07/2017 15:05

So Charlie is going to suffer into next month now

That poor child

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:05

sodablackcurrant,I tottally agree, thisis why the judge must make the correct decsision so this can never happen again.

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:06

cjt110,thanks for your help too

GoingSlightlyCrazy09 · 14/07/2017 15:06

I'm just catching up....it's probably been said earlier, but reading the statement from GOSH made me bawl my eyes out. How dare anyone say these people haven't looked after Charlie in the best way imaginable. God bless each and every team member that has kept this boy alive against such odds Sad

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 15:06

GoingSlightlyCrazy09, again agree.

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 15:07

I suspect the 'Do not move him without my knowledge' comment is because the Army and others are talking about grabbing him and taking him, not because he thinks it is a good idea.
It doesn't seem likely that the NY doctor will just put him on a plane.

DarthMaiden · 14/07/2017 15:07

In all the previous rulings the opinion of the medics was broadly aligned.

The issue this time is that the US Doctor is saying he thinks therapy could work. But he hasn't seen all the evidence nor examined Charlie.

I think the Judge is doing the right thing.

Once the Doctor comes to the UK and has access to all the information and meets with the GOSH team, he's going to have give an option far less woolly than he did on Tuesday.

There is a real possibility he may well reach a different conclusion next week. Equally if he holds to his position then GOSH can't be blamed for any issues arising from treatment in the US.

Albadross · 14/07/2017 15:07

Surely a tape measure cannot be relied upon as an accurate measure of growth - this must've been made clear to the judge? To simply use this way to measure is not going to be objective and the judge himself has just made the point that Connie cannot sit in on the meeting because she's not objective.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 14/07/2017 15:08

Why is the judge engaging with the barmy army??

WinterWinds001 · 14/07/2017 15:09

utterly shocking the parents are allowed to deny scans?! how is that even possible, they must be vital to, not only the case, but to ensuring charlie is appropriately looked after?!

I'm afraid they are so far into denial they are no longer considering how any of this affects charlie, just blinded by grief and every delay will, inevitably, add to it. Sad sad situation all round.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:09

how are these tests going to be done if c and c wont let them?

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 15:11

No more info?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/07/2017 15:11

I am losing patience with this debacle. Poor Charlie stuck in the middle

You and me both Hmm So now:

The judge wants tests by Monday but won't order MRI against parents' wishes
He mentions making a decision on 25 July - the date he said would be far too long
Armstrong claims Connie knows as much about the technical issues as anyone in the UK
And nobody seems prepared to say the parents can't attend a highly technical experts' meeting

And still little Charlie suffers ... apart from the wonderful staff at GOSH, isn't anyone interested in putting him first at all ??!!! Angry

blueskyinmarch · 14/07/2017 15:12

Quick place mark so I can find this thread easily. Need to catch up now.

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 15:13

gotta lov some tweets

connie might becom a doctor one day how do thy know!

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 15:13

This judge isn't daft Albadross.

smilingmind · 14/07/2017 15:14

This is so upsetting and frustrating for us. Imagine how much worse the staff at GOSH must feel and they still have to carry on caring for Charlie.
