New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

No baby it's simply the truth. Just because it's unpalatable, doesn't mean it's not true!

Leontine · 13/07/2017 13:55

ShatnersWig That comment about the wink and "I love you" is one of the most crass things I've ever read in my life.

It sounds like something from an American TV movie.

Jesus Wept.

Ceto · 13/07/2017 13:55

Gobbolino, my point with regard to the solicitor was in answer to the poster who asked how the hearing could continue if the solicitor was not in court. I did not at any point suggest that the solicitor was totally expendable.

In any event, I would think it is a virtual certainty that there is more than one representative of the solicitors' firm in court.

nina2b · 13/07/2017 13:55

Clearly, contempt of court is not being applied. The application should be consistent regardless of circumstances.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 13:55

what i cant stand is ca stating lt his parents do what thy want

so does that go for all parents even ons abusing their kids?

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 13/07/2017 13:55

They use the fact that Charlie has already had six months of intensive care to support it being acceptable to subject him to three further months, even though they acknowledge that there is pain and intrusive treatment involved. Pretty shoddy reasoning, IMO.

MissEliza · 13/07/2017 13:55

So Connie is disputing the measurements of Charlie's skull, ie basically saying the hospital is lying? It's just hopeless.

ViveLesVacances · 13/07/2017 13:56

Ah, apologies everyone! These threads move so fast!

Maybeoneday77 · 13/07/2017 13:59

My son died a few years ago from mitochondrial disease. We chose not to ventilate him having seen how he suffered. Trust me, Charlie is suffering and feels pain but can no longer react to the pain. The seizures he experiences will be painful.
My heart breaks for them all but he needs to be let go peacefully. This isn't fair on him. I wouldn't and didn't want my child to live a life that I would not want to live myself. Sending hugs to them all right now.

Lightlovelife · 13/07/2017 13:59

I can't help thinking that if they were given leave to go to America their £1.3 million wouldn't go very far. It is my understanding that in America you are billed for everything, so although the actual treatment might be free they would still be paying for staff to administer the drugs, and any extras treatment needed, and with the cost of getting him there in the first place that money would bwe gone in next to no time.
I hope CA are willing to set up standing orders for the foreseeable future.

#CharlieGard 's parents return to court for the afternoon session which is due to begin shortly.

nina2b · 13/07/2017 14:00

Catherine Glenn Foster is one of the two people running the petition to save CG. I and other mnetters were fraudulently added to.
She was also asking for monthly donations to their cause, whatever it is, and organising a demo outside the court today.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 14:01

Maybeoneday77,sorry for your loss, and how amazingley brave of you, I really admire your courage and dong the right thing for your child. x

TheFairyCaravan · 13/07/2017 14:01

I do feel sorry for the parents today. They are in such a difficult position, but the way they stormed out of court makes me wonder how much conflict has been going on in PICU for the last 6 months? How many other parents have felt uncomfortable and awkward with it all while they should have been spending time with their poorly children?

I really wouldn't want to be there if the life support has to be withdrawn.

Imaweeble · 13/07/2017 14:01

Bored that's the one I saw! Honestly there are so many people dishing out false hope on that page it's no wonder his parents don't know what or how to think.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/07/2017 14:02

,any event, I would think it is a virtual certainty that there is more than one representative of the solicitors' firm in court.

Not necessarily. The solicitors are acting pro bono. You might take a trainee or NQ to scribe but it's highly unlikely there will be two senior associates/partners there to instruct counsel

CaveMum · 13/07/2017 14:02

@Maybeoneday77 I'm sorry for the loss of your son and thank you for posting. I hope that the current events are not too hard for you Flowers

So glad to have found this thread. Had a blazing row with my mum about this case on Monday. She's not part of the barmy army, but was aligning it with the Ashya King case and saying 'why not let parents decide'. In the end she came round (a bit) but it was deeply frustrating.

I have gone on the GOSH website and given them some money. Horrified that this kind of situation can escalate in this way, and make it all about the parents rather than about the child. I don't really understand why somehwere as world-class and caring as GOSH gets so quickly tarnished and distrusted by the mob, and it's horrible to watch.

And mostly hoping for Charlie's sake that this gets resolved and that he can die in as much peace as he's given.

For the parents, I am sympathetic to a point but the lying and misrepresentation goes beyond that. Still feel terrible they are dealing with such a blooming awful situation, but wish someone could help them focus on Charlie's needs now.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 14:02

nina Partly because I'm slightly concerned what could happen should they not get their way. I'm sure most of them are just keyboard warriors, but we already know staff at GOSH have received messages from people over Facebook threatening them and being abused as they leave the hospital. So I think it important to keep a bit of an eye on them, especially when some of them post some violent stuff which should be reported
