New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

I really hope the right decision is made today for Charlie and the 'army' let his parents have the time and peace to say goodbye.

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 10:25

I have been really surprised by the lack of balance in this by the media.

I think that no one wants to be seen as criticising the family because it's such a sensitive situation.

AndHoldTheBun · 13/07/2017 10:25

Thanks for the new thread.
Sincerely hoping that today's hearing brings about a swift and decisive ruling, in the best interests of Charlie.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 13/07/2017 10:25

Thank you rabbit

DorotheaBeale · 13/07/2017 10:26

Rozenberg tweeting that there will be an overflow room with a video feed because of the numbers expected to attend court. Hope they can funnel any potential disrupters into that room.

redshoeblueshoe · 13/07/2017 10:27

UKIP on now Sad

CaveMum · 13/07/2017 10:27

Rhodiolia the link doesn't work, just takes you to the search facility. But if you type in "Ronald McDonald house" it brings up the lists for all the houses.

Our news and chat shows have really lost the plot
Do we have proper reporters who investigate any more?
It all seems lifted from the I internet

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 10:27

rabbitnothare, the media love a good story dont they???? sad fact is they can report anyway they like and its highly unfair, I do not get why none of them are not balanced and bringing up the stories about threatening to muder staff at Gosh.

redshoeblueshoe · 13/07/2017 10:28

I can't see the barmy army

MirandaWest · 13/07/2017 10:28

I think the boy with a megaphone could be 4 and so not at school yet.

MarthasHarbour · 13/07/2017 10:28

I am supposed to be working, but obsessively checking JR twitter feed.

Hoping that today's outcome will end poor Charlie's suffering, i cannot get out of my head the pp on (i think) thread 4 who was a nurse saying that she has worked with terminally ill babies and how much pain he must be in without being able to communicate it. Can any medics answer this for me please - i get that he cannot communicate in the usual way, however would his brain activity not give an indication? So they know whether to up the morphine or not?

AndHoldTheBun · 13/07/2017 10:29

I agree with Pp, the media have been massively unbalanced when reporting this story. I'm sure that's feeding into some of the CA behaviour.
I dread to think what some of them might do when the (correct, imo) decision is made that it's in Charlie's best interests to have life support removed.

Zoflorabore · 13/07/2017 10:30

Checking in...

Sluttybartfast · 13/07/2017 10:31

facts can be wrong

Oh, bloody hell. I knew Gove was right with the "people are sick of experts" thing, even if he didn't realise what a horrifying thing he was saying, but I despair that we've come to a pass where an adult human being could actually say and believe this.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 10:32

sh was corrected thank god slutty

lougle · 13/07/2017 10:32

I hope everyone is able to stay calm in court today.

CrankyDoodle · 13/07/2017 10:32

De-lurking. I really hope all of this madness ends today and that Charlie is allowed to go peacefully. It's all just so sad Sad

LapinR0se · 13/07/2017 10:32

Yes I'll be late posting as we are at the he GP with my own 3 year old!

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 10:33

CrankyDoodle, to be honest, I tyhink it might, the judge will not be daft, he will be told about all the charlies army and the threats to kill and how its impacting Gosh too.

BluePheasant · 13/07/2017 10:34

So sad, hoping for the right outcome for poor Charlie who has been used as a pawn in this awful "us against them" battle.

KungFuEric · 13/07/2017 10:34

On the media front, they are probably just playing to their interests. They know high court judges and an NHS trust won't want to parade themselves on their chat shows defending themselves, but if they are glib and behave in a 'supportive' manner to the families cause, they may be amenable to sitting their bums on their chat show sofa and exposing their distress to their viewers.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 10:34

And other parents with sick children there.

CaveMum · 13/07/2017 10:34

Oh no Lapin hope he/she is ok.

I can post Tweets for a bit as DS is asleep but he's due to wake up any minute!

I've taken a step back from this, but I wanted to wish lonely mummy and her little darling all the best.
I hope Charlies parents have the strength and courage to face the outcome of the court hearing, what ever the end result may be and that baby Charlie knows that he is loved. I think everyone involved believes they are acting in his best interests.
