New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

They have walked out of the high court hearing

BabsGanoush · 13/07/2017 12:51

more info on BBC

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 12:51

Ooopps late again, sorry, was just catching up.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:52

Mucky Keep up! Smile

SargeantAngua · 13/07/2017 12:52

Does anyone else, while following it all, rather wish for everyone involved's sake this was going on without a blow by blow account being broadcast to the world? It seems wrong somehow.

annasfarmgirl · 13/07/2017 12:52

annasfarmgirl that's no reason to storm out petulantly.

I agree. I'm just pointing out that they are presumably really not in their right minds right now.

This whole thing is a circus, but I really can't judge them for their behaviour. That doesn't mean that I agree with them in any way (I don't).

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 12:52

I wonder if this has been staged

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2017 12:52

Some of what the parents said in the April hearing is recorded in the court ruling

No doubt ... so it will probably be claimed that the court's now lying too Hmm

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 12:52

Do you think they think thatit might get delayed???

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2017 12:52

No I prefer the blow by blow account.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 12:53

sorry if it soun ds harsh the way he parades charlies toy is off

leave it with the boy if its apprntly his favourite

Laiste · 13/07/2017 12:53

Oh god. More twists and turns. What good is storming out? except the usual ramping up of high drama.

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 12:53

They are getting bit of backlash now on twitter. One post 'For his "favourite toy", they sure do love taking it away from him so they can show it off to the media.' That post is harsh but it was kind of my thought too. If they believe his toy brings him comfort why isn't it with him now when they aren't?

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 13/07/2017 12:53

I would imagine they are in such a state they don't know which way is up. And given the bubble that has surrounded them for the past few weeks, the court hearings today and Monday are possibly the only times when the unvarnished facts have been presented in their hearing. Plus - the judge is quite possibly the only person in the world with not only the right, but the duty to challenge some of their thinking and statements.

ALoveWorthKeeping · 13/07/2017 12:54

This thread is moving so fast. Does anyone know - the photo that is used of Charlie cuddling his monkey. He looks really young in it - when was it taken? He looks so different to the ones recently where he is bloated and looks really really sick. It's the one most often used and I think clouding a lot of people's judgement, he just looks like a sleeping boy.

Not surprised parents have stormed out - they have fallen out with GOSH as they are not hearing what they want to hear from them, neither are they hearing what they want from the court. So sad for them, they are in such denial and won't cope when he goes.

RJnomore1 · 13/07/2017 12:54

I don't think it's about what we prefer and it does seem voyeuristic.

I'm sad about he monkey. It should be with Charlie.

HouseOfMouse · 13/07/2017 12:54

I just think it is so sad. They are clearly really struggling with this. I think this is partly why the judge keeps emphasising that he is bound to apply the law, and that the press/emotive opinions have no bearing on that, only evidence (and in this case, new evidence). Their legal team really should have made this clear to them.
That they (the parents) are now not accepting what they had previously said indicates how far they have detached from reality.

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2017 12:54

They've been given a chance to come back in after an early lunch break - their choice if they ignore the offer.

SargeantAngua · 13/07/2017 12:55

goodbyestranger I'm following it and finding it very interesting but it still feels wrong to me.

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 13/07/2017 12:55

If they believe his toy brings him comfort why isn't it with him now when they aren't?

Ive wondered myself. I saw the dad with it a few days ago and I thought - whys that not with the wee one?

annasfarmgirl · 13/07/2017 12:55

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck

A good point well put.

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 12:55

I don't like all the courtroom drama being relayed no, but, if it wasn't there would be even more conspiracy theories.

I guess when you go to the media and create the 'army' etc, there is such public interest that it's probably better if it is openly reported as it happens.

EgustaEats · 13/07/2017 12:55

I agree with Monty at 12:53:40.

Desperately tragic all round.

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 12:55

That is a good point MontyPython. They are surrounded by an echo chamber the rest of the time. Anything remotely resembling even polite disagreement is deleted on their support pages. Must be a shock to the system to come out of that.

Sostenueto · 13/07/2017 12:56

Omg! How can you storm out of court? The judge said they would adjourn, and why argue about what you said in court 3 months ago with a judge? Its all recorded so you can't deny what you said. Oh and they left Charlie' monkey behind. This like a big brother episode. Unbelievable!
