New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

This is why they stormed out

Surely if they ignore the offer then it will go in Gosh favour?

MidnightAura · 13/07/2017 12:56

I wondered that about the monkey too if I'm honest. I feel horrible for thinking it.

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 12:56

I think sadly, that whether it was deliberate lies or confusion, they thought that enough media pressure would force it to go the way that they wanted.

The judge is not having that though.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:57

stitch I think this is part of the problem and why a lot of people who were originally for the parents have now swung around. Whereas before they were seen as loving parents doing their best for their child, they have now told so many untruths, spend so much of this precious time doing interviews despite claiming they are never away from his bedside, claiming this favourite toy (which he's never seen), having let thier family create this mad social media shitshorm, that it now comes very much as about nothing to do with Charlie any more.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2017 12:57

I thought it was once reported that there were two toy monkeys ... one which stayed with Charlie and a copy his dad carries round?

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 13/07/2017 12:57

In the spirit of not giving them a kicking maybe there are two or three monkeys.

Mummylin · 13/07/2017 12:58

I think I read that there are two toy monkeys, one with the baby and one with the dad.

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2017 12:59

In other countries they do live tv coverage of newsworthy cases.

Sluttybartfast · 13/07/2017 12:59

It is essential that court hearings be public, albeit we have reasons for not allowing them to be filmed, broadcast, or photographed.

I do actually feel more sorry for Connie and Chris, because I think we're basically watching slow-motion mental disintegration. They are utterly trapped in their own heads and their narrative of how everyone in the world is against them and that is a miserable place to be, even when it's not the issue of your baby dying that has put you there. I don't condone their actions, but I do pity them deeply. I have to hope that they will still have each other when this is all over - a lot of relationships don't survive the death of a child.

WankYouForTheMusic · 13/07/2017 12:59

True beyond!

Oogle · 13/07/2017 12:59

I feel really sad that he left Charlie's monkey in court but actually, it makes me sad that he takes it with him to court. It should remain with Charlie.

Laiste · 13/07/2017 13:00

SargeantAngua - Does anyone else, while following it all, rather wish for everyone involved's sake this was going on without a blow by blow account being broadcast to the world? It seems wrong somehow.

The Great British Public feel they have a right to know what's going on all the time. So here it is. Sadly there's no matching obligation for them to understand any of it before commenting/protesting/abusing other people over it and winding those actually involved up into a state of madness.

Oogle · 13/07/2017 13:01

I hope so mummy

WeDoNotSow · 13/07/2017 13:01

From CA page:
It was turning so positive until they bought the past up! Why did he do that? Hopefully they will gain control and discuss something to hit back harder with that will give no choice but to say yes! Xx

Wtaf ?!?

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 13:01

Good point that there is probably more than one monkey. That's a strange sentence to type!

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 13:01

dont think thy hav to be there mucky

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 13:02

"Wouldn't fight for the current quality of life." That is important though, isn't it. Is there any likelihood of significant changes to his quality of life with the treatment? Sounds like they don;t want to face up to the reality of the situation.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 13:02

why did he do that?

because hes stating that they themselves said he shoulnt be kpt alive if this is his quality of life!

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 13:03

Thats the sad fact, I think the Gards have realised they have lost this.

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 13:04

I do think that not behaving calmly will not be in their favour. If they wish to go ahead with more stress and treatment it doesn't bode well if the don't appear up to dealing with that ongoing stress.

ATailofTwoKitties · 13/07/2017 13:06

I can see why they thought they had been misinterpreted there, as 'wouldn't fight for his current quality of life' is subtly different from 'Currently he has no quality of life, but what we are fighting for is to sustain this life on the [improbable] chance of improving it.'

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 13:06

I wonder if this is how life has been at GOSH recently in PICU, lots of high tension and anger. Must be so difficult for all involved.

sevensisters7242 · 13/07/2017 13:06

These people are beginning to look like a disgrace. Their behaviour is appalling and there's no excuse for it.

DontLetMeBeMisunderstood · 13/07/2017 13:06

There are two monkeys - if you look at the photo often used where he has a blue babygro and a tissue under his chin, he's hugging two monkeys
