New thread so that we can await this morning's hearing.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 5 threads have been.

Fingers crossed that this can all be resolved today and that Charlie and his parents can find peace.

FGS, my elderly MIL's legs are massive compared to this time last year, but that doesn't mean she's growing. They're just swollen.

In Charlie's case, measuring his skull daily would be invasive and risky, in itself, so GOSH aren't going to have a huge pool of data on that, are they?

Ceto · 13/07/2017 12:09

I think Victoria Butler-Cole has now leapt ahead of Gollop in the race to become major hate figure for CA.

Nicknacky · 13/07/2017 12:09

Someone on CAvhas posted that she hasn't been this excited since the World Cup. Do these imbeciles not realise that this is people's lives?

I'm actually saddened that someone was say that.

CaveMum · 13/07/2017 12:09

Survival, I haven't ordered yet but presume that when you select and pay for something it will automatically be sent to the owner of the List?

@ShatnersWig The noisy few don't speak for anyone but themselves!

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:10

Ceto. Yep....

Victoria butler cole sit the fuck down bitch! Is that your argument you dumb waste of space

LaconicIcon · 13/07/2017 12:10

Surely there are precise measurements of the actual skull in the scans, I would have thought that would be used rather than a tape measure around the outside

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 12:11

So when gosh take their turn on their little pedestal, they now can't use the argument of irreversible brain damage, etc etc as there has been no recent MRI scan, head circumference hasn't even been measured. Their case is falling apart by the minute

From CA page, they seem to think that GOSH have no case.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:11

Victoria is a class A CUNT. Sorry about my language

Don't apologise, hun, you fit right into the majority of the Barmy

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 12:12

Surely there is some more accurate way of judging the extent of brain damage than this head size measurement, as mentioned upthread If Charlie is oedematous then the measurement would not be accurate anyway. Swelling of tissues due to fluid does not equal skull growth.

It all seems a bit vague and not very accurate.

jellypi3 · 13/07/2017 12:13

New to this thread but it makes me so sad, I really feel for the parents but my heart breaks for the GOSH employees who have worked so hard for Charlie's best interests, only to be vilified by the poisonous media and CA followers.

Will be following for updates.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:13

The so-called former nursery worker who studied law at Sports College has this to say:

Butler-cole #mosthatedwomanonthisplanet
#shutupwoman
If she reproduces i feel sorry for her children.

Sick. Sorry, these people are sick.

littlebrownbag · 13/07/2017 12:13

@FoxyRoxy

No, you can't. In the event that GOSH had determined months ago that the potential benefit outweighed the risks, they would still have had to run it by their Ethics Committee as it's an unlicensed drug. They'd also have have a license from the MHRA for an import of "special" drugs as it is from the US - which they may already have as a large hospital that treats rare diseases. But then they also need to notify MHRA 28 days in advance before the import of the medication to allow time for MHRA review. And GOSH would be totally liable for the outcome of administering that experimental treatment - so if it went wrong they could still be sued.

CaveMum · 13/07/2017 12:13

CA advocate on Twitter:

Is there a reason we're not being told everything via the media? Are media being told to withhold info?

OP posts:
Yamayo · 13/07/2017 12:13

Are people watching or following the Twitter feed?

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 12:16

From a quick search on Pubmed. (looked for cases in children of affects on the brain in presentation of mito disease)

The authors describe a patient who presented with headache, seizures, and severe cerebral edema in whom they identified a novel mutation in the mitochondrial (mt-) tRNA(His) gene.

AncientRain · 13/07/2017 12:16

I was about to ask the same question
A pp said watching
Are you watching or reading twitter

passmethewineplease · 13/07/2017 12:17

nick did someone really say that?!

That's beyond belief.

I don't think Charlie's parents will ever come to terms with their sons illness. You can see in their faces what all this has done to them. As much as I disagree with the media circuis this has become I can't help but feel sorry for them.

cjt110 · 13/07/2017 12:18

I'm watching via Skynews.... Seems to be in spits and spats at the mo.

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 12:18

Another Barmy has this to say about Ms Butler-Cole:

I'd have killed her by now 😡😡😡
with someone else saying yup me too

nauticant · 13/07/2017 12:19

The point about twitter is whether there are any particular people in addition to Joshua Rozenberg worth following. I'd imagine the commonly used hashtags would give you a sewer of a twitter feed.

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 12:19

Cerebral edema can result from brain trauma or from nontraumatic causes such as ischemic stroke, cancer, or brain inflammation due to meningitis or encephalitis. ... The blood–brain barrier (BBB) or the blood–cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) barrier may break down, allowing fluid to accumulate in the brain's extracellular space. (Wikipedia)

It seems this can cause swelling according to my search. However I'm not a medic. Would be interested to hear from any who know more. Surely the medial experts would know about this, it doesn't sound as simple as smaller head size= brain damage. And from pictures the head does look swollen.

LapinR0se · 13/07/2017 12:19

Charlie Gard: Armstrong is handing the judge more written medical evidence.

FoxyRoxy · 13/07/2017 12:19

@littlebrownbag

Yes that's what I thought, thank you for clarifying :)

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 12:19

Replying to @JoshuaRozenberg

Who gave birth to this little fighter mm not you shut up and sit back down 😡😡
