.... to demand a serious cull? Mugs are trying to take over my kitchen (pic attached)

But apparently every one of them is 'precious' and needs to stay according to DH and DSs (they are ganging up on me).
Most are mismatched, some are freebies, many are chipped and faded from having been in the dishwasher 2 million times.

Help me!!

Bin one a week. Tenner says they won't even notice.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 07/07/2017 15:31

You are feeling rather sloppy fingered today...ooops smashed another...

PacificDogwod · 07/07/2017 15:31

Ha! I tried that - binned one a few weeks ago.
It reappeared in all its glory. Including lip severing chip Hmm

Ok, I need to become more destructive, good idea!

If you fall for the 'every one is precious' argument then you're the only mug you need to worry about Wink

SootSprite · 07/07/2017 15:33

I did a huge cull last summer. I picked out our favourites and then people were allowed to 'save' five others each. The rest were chucked.

I had a beautiful clear cup cupboard for about a month, the bastard things have multiplied again. Mugs are worse than bunnies 🙄

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 07/07/2017 15:34

A tiled kitchen floor does wonders when your hands are wet from washing up. Nothing bounces. Not even an iPhone in its protective bumper case. Sad

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/07/2017 15:36

I did this a few years ago, I now own 5 Le Creuset mugs in different colours, they are the only mugs allowed in my home and only hot drinks and milk can be drunk from them.
My life house is a mess but my mugs are not Grin

Tazerface · 07/07/2017 15:37

How COULD you?!

I love mugs Grin I bought a new one yesterday!

PacificDogwod · 07/07/2017 15:37

Bedweek Grin
You are oh so right Blush

I have a timber floor - good quality mugs do bounce. Sigh.

We are six - that would be 36 mugs. Too many.
And yes, they breed at an alarming rate.

Two each then? We're only a three, and dh said he didn't care about mugs (though I noticed he did check his jelly baby mug was safe before he said anything) 😂

Brillo, Le Crueset mugs......I'm Envy

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 07/07/2017 15:41

Don't you take your tea out on the patio?

PacificDogwod · 07/07/2017 15:43

What prompted my post today is that I want to buy some GOSH mugs. But there is no room in the mug drawer.

I am taking note of every idea.

No tea on the patio today as I might freeze to death. 12 degrees C Hmm

ZogsAnon · 07/07/2017 15:43

Take them out with you and ditch on a street bin?

SweetChickadee · 07/07/2017 15:44

I like a cup of tea on the drive....

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 07/07/2017 15:44

But you will need a mug of tea to keep you warm and it would be shame if you dropped it.

Her0utdoors · 07/07/2017 15:50

For the love of all that is good, no! Now we have a kitchen with a cupboard for mugs instead of hooks I don't mind what pictures ours have on them, but they need to be large with straight sides and have big handles so I can carry 2 with one hand. Now you've made a thing of it OP, your cause is lost and you will be stuck with them for ever.

whatnow17 · 07/07/2017 15:51

Where are you OP? Where is it 12 degrees? Sounds lovely. Far too hot in London Sad.

PacificDogwod · 07/07/2017 15:53

Yes, I have a favoured size and shape and proper thickness of wall also.
I favour china over earthenware. Hate logos. Love the mugs matching the rest of our crockery.

I will have to woman up, won't I?

I do hate mug trees though

whatnow, Scotland.

I've just taken my damp washing down and hung it back up inside. Sigh
Grey, cold and miserable here.

I shall go and put the kettle on Grin

Have I mentioned that we have 2 (TWO!!) giant SportsDirect mugs??!
DH luffs them. I should LTB, shouldn't I?

The80sweregreat · 07/07/2017 15:54

I like the one on the top left.

JungleInTheRumble · 07/07/2017 15:56

I want to buy some GOSH mugs Who buys all these mugs in your mug drawer op? Is it you?? Grin

whatnow17 · 07/07/2017 15:59

Cold and damp sounds lovely. Well I would like it to be about 22 degrees - maybe not 12.

I hate Sports Direct mugs as well Angry.

Frankiestein401 · 07/07/2017 15:59

2nd row, 4th from left appears to contain a slug?.... :)

IHeartDodo · 07/07/2017 16:00

Eugh I hate the sports direct ones!
DP uses ours as a paint pot.
Could you just leave one in the car for a few weeks, and if nobody notices then bin it... And repeat.
Or plant things in them? They'll be ruined for drinking out of and out of your cupboard!
