But apparently every one of them is 'precious' and needs to stay according to DH and DSs (they are ganging up on me).
Most are mismatched, some are freebies, many are chipped and faded from having been in the dishwasher 2 million times.

Help me!!

My god, this thread has grown legs! Grin

Maire Kondo can go and jump Grin although I agree with the 'beautiful or useful or doomed' sentiment.

ALL my crockery is in 120cm drawers (the other half of the mug drawer is given over to glasses and plastic cups for Littlies) and it is genius because there is no 'back of the cupboard' area where thing end up to die Grin. Nothing chips in the mug/glass drawer because of soft-closure, natch

Being a SportsDirect customer is a never-ending source of guilt and embarrassment for me, but 4 boys, needs/must... Blush

In defence of Sports Direct mugs, you can eat casserole from them on camp

They are so big, thick and ungainly you can probably cook a casserole in them - they weigh more than a similarly-sized Le Creuset . . .

mumdebump one of the ladies on a fb page I belong to collects EB and has over 600 mugs.

I don't know where she actually keeps them all.

I've got about 40. Blush Grin

Work conference mugs should be rehomed to the work kitchen or staff room.

This made Discussion of the Day! Grin

Must have been a slow weekend on MN...

Currently drinking liquorice tea from a Stig mug btw.

Someone stole my sports direct mug from work. Still pissed off about it almost a year later as it was perfectly sized for a tin of soup/tinned curry/cuppa soup.

paxillin · 09/07/2017 23:03

Cue 400 mnetters sending Pandoraslastchance unwanted sports direct mugs Grin.

Dibbles1967 · 10/07/2017 01:53

Sometimes I don't have ANY mugs in my cupboard. Hmm, only 3 in the dishwasher. The same phenomenon occurs with plates & cutlery.

It's usually resolved by asking my children why they are relocating the kitchen to their bedrooms & then turning off the internet until it all comes back.

I don't think Sports Direct like Sports Direct mugs, I ordered a pair of running bottoms, small item eh? Arrived in a box WITH A MUG.

Personally, I don't have the strength of a morning to be able to lift one!

ChishandFips33 · 10/07/2017 06:20

Same in this house though I'd love a mug drawer to hide the mismatched chipped fuckers that I'm forced to keep...on show on the mug shelf

DH gets work freebies from reps and I have to admit I'm a sucker for a new mug , if I see it and like it I buy it

We are doomed mug hoarders!

FuckyDuck · 10/07/2017 07:10

So I've found my nirvana of mug, which is a Cath Kidston shape, holds plenty but is sturdy and pretty.

I've bought 8.

I want these to be our only 8 mugs, my pretties. DH wants his fucking ugly slave labour Sports Direct mug.

FFS.

morningconstitutional2017 · 10/07/2017 08:13

I love mugs but maybe old fashioned cups and saucers come first in my affections but even I must admit that really there is a limit.

Freebies tend not to be the most beautiful and the chipped ones should be thrown away and perhaps smashed first (oh dearie me, what a butterfingers) to prevent them reappearing.

Why not suggest making a mosaic tray out of the pieces? Then you could smash even more to provide sufficient for a work of art.

Northernparent68 · 10/07/2017 08:51

I'm not sure if people are joking when they suggest the mugs should be smashed, if it is serious ask yourself how you like your partner to break your property. The solution is suggest your son keeps his mugs in his room. As for your husband, it is his home too.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/07/2017 08:54

As for your husband, it is his home too.

Don't start giving blokes ideas, Northern. They'll be wanting to sleep on the bed next.

LumelaMme · 10/07/2017 09:07

Proper LOL there from me, Schadenfreude.

You will have to advertise on MN when you plan your next stand-up comedy tour.
