To not want to eat Mcd, drink while pg, and watch trash US TV shows

After reading recent threads, I'm wondering where all the educated and informed people on here are?????

Who would like to agree that

1)Mcd suxs not just because of what they serve (because they are menu changing but also because they are a boring chain taking over the world and closing small business, pay minimum wages, make max profits, they are not a restaurant, where's the cutlery and table service, do i need to go on?

  1. Alcohol can harm a baby, and it's not really worth a risk, we shouldn't need to drink while pg

  2. Why does everyone's profile list trash US shows- Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, etc, etc

Rant over, anyone agree? ah just agree with me

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:31

By the way, does anyone else find it REALLY irritating that the kiddie lego-like things are called "MegaBloks"??? [grr]

Washersaurus · 23/03/2007 11:31

Can I order one of those milkshakes that don't contain any milk please?

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:32

wurly! How can you even ASK!

BBQ, of course!

dingolimpet · 23/03/2007 11:32

My mum never took me to McD as a nipper, I had my first while on my first date when I was 17, and couldn't believe my mum had denied me it for all those years!!
I've compromised by taking my 2 sons once a week, on way to farmers market, where we buy nice healthy local food.
Moderation in everything I think.

Hulababy · 23/03/2007 11:33

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE - having worked in BurgerKing and Dh in McD - both when sixth formers, bit DH didn't last two minutes! - I would recommend McD as being better to go to! Better working practises than BK from what I could gather, and was slightly better pay for staff - oh and cleaner!

nickytwotimes · 23/03/2007 11:34

dingo, mcd's existed when you were a nipper? how young are you? and does your mummy know you're on t'internet?!

Kif · 23/03/2007 11:34

I took my Dd to an adventure playground last week. There were kids there eating burgers from a 'van of death' that you could almost drink through a straw, they were so mushy with filler and entrails.

And since our Odeon opened, with it's big name films and aggressive promotions, the cute city centre cinema has finally given up the ghost .

In my local Thai cafe, I think the waitresses are being employed illegally. Doubt they have the best working conditions, even though they're always very friendly

McD are easy to critisise - they'ry big, visible, American, well known, and at times rather disingenuous in their tactics. 'Easy to critisise' is not the same thing as 'the worst' or even 'bad'. I'm not suggesting that you feed your family on predominantly McDs - and you're free to choose what you like when you're there. Their coffee and ice cream are nice.

Actually I have been to McD's in France most times over there. When doing long car journeys, then the McD's places on edges of town are great. Not for the food, but they all have really decent sized soft play sections so it gives DD a chance to have a really good run about and claim and burn off some pent up energy before setting off again.

dingolimpet · 23/03/2007 11:37

Ha ha, now you said that in jest, but i should be at college, mum is looking after ds2. She'd go mad if she knew I was skiving!! I'm 28 by the way.
Last week she commented how she'd seen my car parked elsewhere than college!!

Hulababy · 23/03/2007 11:37

I got £2.10 Fio - back in 1990 it was. I never did the cooking bit. I almost always worked on the till, or did the party hostess job. Hated the Sunday party work - which I need every week - 4 parties in a row, not great after a Saturday night out!!!

expatinscotland · 23/03/2007 11:37

I like McDonald's every now and again. Fries covered in ketchup. McFlurries. Coffee on a cold winter day. Breakfast with a hangover.

Alcohol, schmachol

I like Desperate Housewives and TV in general. I find it fun and entertaining.

What's up with all the aggro? Why the hell do you care how others run their lives?

You sound miserable.

Buy yourself some flowers or sniff some in a park.

Cheer up, fgs, life is too short to be angry and bitter at nonsense.

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 11:40

Glad you all love your Mcd food so much because soon they'll be less choice,(did i say soon) my point is they are evreywhere. If I want to eat different food to Mcd, like if you go to China, Russia, Europe, an airport or a motorway there is less and less choice but chains. If your happy with that, cool.

I want to find people who don't want that!!!!

Are there any?????

expatinscotland · 23/03/2007 11:41

I thought the full moon was last week.

Fuckin' hell.

Washersaurus · 23/03/2007 11:41

Why not start on Tesco if you are that bothered about lack of choice?

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:42

Oh god, McFlurries.

We don't have a McDs within walking distance, and you lot have made me hungry!

lilymolly · 23/03/2007 11:42

Ohh tonight dp going to pub, going to watch Lost, Heroes, Ugly betty that I have recorded this week,

This relaxes me after assisting orthopaedic surgeons with their subacromial decompression, rotator cuff, and anterior cruciate ligaments.....god I am SO NOT intelligent

exbury · 23/03/2007 11:43

littlelapin can I come to your next party? DH was known in the past (pre-DC, before I get slaughtered) to come home (drunk) with McD for everyone - including the cats (one like nuggets, the other preferred a burger). That was fine with me. Does that make us ignorant and uneducated (says exbury MEng(Oxon) )

Washersaurus · 23/03/2007 11:43

Lillymolly - all that in one evening? DH and I are usually tucked up in bed by 9.30pm reading literature

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:44

duuuurrr, lilymolly...

(Is Heroes good?)

BandofMothers · 23/03/2007 11:44

I like to think that I'm an intelligent person, who can make an informed decision about what I eat or drink. But some days I just think "feck it", and have a McD's, or a glass of wine while pg. (only withdd2 tho, made me sick with dd1)

As for US tv shows, I love a lot of them, see it's all on my profile, and I don't give a shit. I also love nature programmes, history programmes, documentaries etc. Got to have a laugh sometimes tho. Can't always be serious and educational.

Go and judge someone else. > OOps was that too childish and uneducated??? And AM I BOVVERED????????

piglit · 23/03/2007 11:45

He/she's a troll fgs.

lilymolly · 23/03/2007 11:45

Heroes fabulous, only started watching cos Chris Moyles keeps going on about it.
Its a little far fetched, but gripping.

(does that boil your piss too, that I listen to trash on the radio. leftofcenter?)

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:46

exbury, I lived in a frat house at university (more fun that I can possibly explain ) and we were forever having these huge impromptu parties, so I was always getting dispatched to buy 100 pizzas, or 200 buffalo wings or something.

I really miss uni!
