To not want to eat Mcd, drink while pg, and watch trash US TV shows

After reading recent threads, I'm wondering where all the educated and informed people on here are?????

Who would like to agree that

1)Mcd suxs not just because of what they serve (because they are menu changing but also because they are a boring chain taking over the world and closing small business, pay minimum wages, make max profits, they are not a restaurant, where's the cutlery and table service, do i need to go on?

  1. Alcohol can harm a baby, and it's not really worth a risk, we shouldn't need to drink while pg

  2. Why does everyone's profile list trash US shows- Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, etc, etc

Rant over, anyone agree? ah just agree with me

Shockedmyself - Don't all motorways have petrol stations placed sporadically along them, where you can buy sandwiches etc? Not necessarily the best and most nutritious sandwiches...

They usually sell Ginsters sausage rolls as well. I know everyone loves a good sausage roll.

beckybrastraps · 23/03/2007 14:19

There was a whole edition of the Food Programme on Radio 4 devoted to rapeseed oil and its apparent health benefits.

Just thought I'd share that...

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 14:21

Sawyer - Forest Whittiker - god am I so glad he was going to do LKOS!!! - not got the same hotbody swoonworthyness as the sex pot who plays him now.

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 14:21

Waves white flag, and retreats

Alright I really am going now,

Aloha- well, i do know about what they used to fry in, I did mention that it was changing with that healthy new menu, so you do know more about that new oil than me, but you haven't answered my question.

I don't trust new products much, i have gone back to eating butter from margarine, and boy does it taste better.

I just like people to question stuff, but maybe people would rather be defensive. I can't change anyone and realize my dream of getting into politics is over unless i change my opinions.

Hunker you do? are you in us then???
Which ones and what do you actually do on them.

Expat. Don't think the Sawyer/Kate/Jack love triangle would be so interesting with FW in the Sawyer role, do you??LOL

ShockedMyself · 23/03/2007 14:21

I don´t think working on them would make your mind go dead, no.

So do you think that watching this type of programme is intellectually stimulating? Not that everything you watch should be necessarily, but I am sure that a constant diet of this type of show brings in brain rot. I know that they often also make me depressed that there is nothing better on offer.

BandofMothers · 23/03/2007 14:22

BELE, you wouldn't be stirring the pot a little there would you???

foxybrown · 23/03/2007 14:24

LOC its not your opinions you have to change but how you choose to deliver them.

BandofMothers · 23/03/2007 14:24

LOC, don't you think every pg woman who has a glass of wine q's herself a little first. Everything in moderation, you know?

BigEggLittleEgg · 23/03/2007 14:27

BoM, am sure I am stirring.

BandofMothers · 23/03/2007 14:28

BELE

twelveyeargap · 23/03/2007 14:30

My step-father owns a chippy. Fries in hydrogenated vegetable oil and has no idea that it's bad for you. Says, "at least I don't fry in lard". And fwiw, he doesn't use it because it's cheaper - it's not. It's because people are turned off by the smell of many other fats and oils and by the fact that the chips go a very dark colour in lots of other oils due to the low smoking-point of non-hydrogenated fat.

Hydrogenated fat was once thought to be healthier than saturated fat and it's quite recect that we have realised it isn't.

And, if you're interested, most vegetable oils start to hydrogenate and turn into transfat when you heat them to high temperatures anyway. You can be happily frying in olive oil thinking you're doing the right thing, when in fact it starts to form transfats just before the smoking point.

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 14:34

HAVE BOTH OF YOU GONE??????

BandofMothers · 23/03/2007 14:36

She did wave the white flag and retreat.

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 14:37

What about her happy alter ego though???

BigEggLittleEgg · 23/03/2007 14:39

I did notice on a old thread that uki resides in Australia (though may have moved since then). If so it would be an ungodly hour there I think, especially to be discussing McDs.

Gingerbear · 23/03/2007 14:40

If it is uki, I THINK she lives in Australia, so may have gone orf to bed.

Good point about smokin'fat 12YG

AnnabelCaramel · 23/03/2007 14:41

I think one of her lives in Oz, one on another planet.

BigEggLittleEgg · 23/03/2007 14:43

twelveyeargap · 23/03/2007 14:43

@ Annabel

lilymolly · 23/03/2007 15:27

she sounds like a f**king nutter to me

Stigaloid · 23/03/2007 15:33
  1. Agree

  2. Definitely agree. You only have to get a glass, crack an egg in it and drop one shot of vodka in it to see what alcohol does to an egg cell (it cooks it) to know that mixing alcohol with a growing foetus is harmful - especially in the first trimester when cells are forming. It's not AS harmful once the baby is fully formed, but not a brilliant idea. If you can avoid then it is best to.

  3. Sorry - i like Heroes

twelveyeargap · 23/03/2007 16:15

I doubt very much that anyone has been introducing hard spirits directly to their uterus whilst pregnant though...

OrmIrian · 23/03/2007 17:11

But you never know twelveyeargap - expectant mothers being sooooo very stupid.....

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 17:13

Sorry how much alcohol would you have to drink to have the same effect of dropping an egg into a glass of vodka - you would have to fucking drink a swimming pool full - how rideculous!!
