To not want to eat Mcd, drink while pg, and watch trash US TV shows

After reading recent threads, I'm wondering where all the educated and informed people on here are?????

Who would like to agree that

1)Mcd suxs not just because of what they serve (because they are menu changing but also because they are a boring chain taking over the world and closing small business, pay minimum wages, make max profits, they are not a restaurant, where's the cutlery and table service, do i need to go on?

  1. Alcohol can harm a baby, and it's not really worth a risk, we shouldn't need to drink while pg

  2. Why does everyone's profile list trash US shows- Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, etc, etc

Rant over, anyone agree? ah just agree with me

ugh, is THAT what the froth is?????????!!!!!!!!!

Washersaurus · 23/03/2007 11:13

I studied the McLibel trial whilst doing my law degree - I think your problem is really with the English Legal System not allowing freedom of speech- McDonalds would not have had a case to argue if it had taken place in America. [Washer takes off cap and gown and goes back to floor cleaning]

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 11:14

Oh kif,
what can i say, you must have had a nice manager? because I'm sure if I phoned HQ and told them your story they wouldn't have been happy, with him/her. Or do you think they would.

I'm glad you passed your A levels too, and maybe you were too busy studying to notice all the preservatives and fat, in their food. They have only just starting using oil to fry with?
Do you know what they used before that, anyone else want to know?
Do you also know where all their food comes from, and How it is produced?

I'm not calling myself intelligent, just informed and educated about what I stick dowm my throat.

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 11:19

Kif, I totally agree with the starbucks, it also sux I don't support it either, A small cafe is a much better choice. You really could make that doco, go for it.

Lillymolly, What can i say, why maybe?????

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:20

leftofcentre - you assume that just because someone eats at MacDonalds, they aren't informed? Because no-one intelligent ever does things that they KNOW aren't healthy.

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:21

IGW, you are making me giggle today

Washersaurus · 23/03/2007 11:22

Here I admit to taking my 12 week old baby to the pub to celebrate when I graduated with my law degree and breastfeeding him under my graduation gown whilst having half a pint of cider

IntergalacticWalrus · 23/03/2007 11:22

Pass me some of that Whisky, LL, will you?

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE · 23/03/2007 11:23

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:25

Washer - bloody well done, that's some achievement! (getting the LLD whilst pregnant, not the cider. Although cider is lovely).

IntergalacticWalrus · 23/03/2007 11:25

I want one o those pretend doughnuts that have been festering in a plastic box for 10 years, please

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:26

ooh, I'm now totally craving an Egg McMuffin

CadburyCremeSquonk · 23/03/2007 11:28

Is there alcohol in here?

Wahey!! Was recommended to come here for a laugh, didn't realise I could have a drink as well.

Oh, wait a minute, I'm not pg, can I still have one?

I had two children whilst living in a pub. Was working behind the bar whilst in labour with dd2, and back at work when she was four days old. (I didn't drink while pg, but only because it made me sick)

Personal choice imo.
(and I took the kids to mcds last week - was awful, but I did it!)

Hulababy · 23/03/2007 11:29

Fair enough. You don't like McDonalds. So don't go! Vut why try and insult those who may choose to go.

Some of your arguements are also inaccurate.

McDonalds pays more than minimum wage and have always paid slightly higher than other similar jobs, even for 16 year olds.

"If Mcd had their way, and boy did they try !!!! no one would be able to critize them." Well yes, but then most business woudl try to avoid open criticism too, would they? Let's face I think MN right now have been through something along these lines - not with a buesiness, but close enough!

Of course they make profit - they are a business, it is their job to do so! so do all other restaurants and to think that the cast majority don't aim for that too would be very naive.

They do not claim to be a restaurant with table service, so why is this a criticism? However, IME, staff will always carry food to tables if there is a need. Prices are lower than actual restaurants because it is self service.

Why would the manager of Kif's McD be in trouble for providing good customer service. Part of the McD training is to try and provide good customer service wherever possible. I suspect if Kif phoned HQ or whatever to offer praise then it would be readily accepted. If someone entirely unrelated phoned to complain that someone gotgood treatement I suspect HQ would thing the person ringing was somewhat unhinged!

Local burger place instead! Have you been in some of these?! At least McD does have quality assurance checks built in and have to be more accountable for their products. Wether you like it or not at least their kitchens, etc are cleaned thoroughyly and regularly ach day - they have people employed specifically for this duty. I know that some of the cheaper take out places locally do not have such assurances!

OrmIrian · 23/03/2007 11:29

Course you're not leftofcentre. Not at all. But if what you are saying is that no-one else intelligent and informed should do those things either, then I would suggest that yes, you are. People may be intelligent and informed but chose different information and act on it differently.

BTW I personally find the use of the spelling 'sux' infinitely worse than watching trashy US TV - something incidentally I never ever do unless chained to the sofa or very ill and not in contol of my faculties.

wurlywurlyCOVEREDinCHOCOLATE · 23/03/2007 11:30

no actually fancy a whopper, does anyone fancy going to burger king for me???

Hulababy · 23/03/2007 11:30

Have to admit I do like the odd fillet o fish!!!

I actually go to McD very occasionally, prefering to take DD to other "proper" restaurants as she prefers that food to chips and burgers. But I do not like being told what I have to do!

littleEasterlapin · 23/03/2007 11:30

I once ordered 84 McNuggets - we were having a party. Also 15 Big Macs, 10 Cheeseburgers, about 40 large fries... and no drinks (we had a keg).

The people behind me on the queue HATED me!

OrmIrian · 23/03/2007 11:30

Have to confess that when a friend and I used to take our children to MaccyD's we always said it would be hugely improved if they served glasses or red wine as well.
