To not want to eat Mcd, drink while pg, and watch trash US TV shows

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 04:06

After reading recent threads, I'm wondering where all the educated and informed people on here are?????

Who would like to agree that

1)Mcd suxs not just because of what they serve (because they are menu changing but also because they are a boring chain taking over the world and closing small business, pay minimum wages, make max profits, they are not a restaurant, where's the cutlery and table service, do i need to go on?

  1. Alcohol can harm a baby, and it's not really worth a risk, we shouldn't need to drink while pg

  2. Why does everyone's profile list trash US shows- Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, etc, etc

Rant over, anyone agree? ah just agree with me

I can't be arsed. I read your opening post, decided life is too short.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2007 12:33

I love the pickle, Twinkie! It's NOT a gherkin, you know. It's a tart, tangy PICKLE.

But then, I am an American expat to the UK who shares a home full of Scottish people and I do enjoy a spot of Ugly Betty.

I salute leftofcentre, however, because thanks to her thread I've got an intense craving for fries and coffee. NOT chips and teas.

What can I say? You can take the girl out of [insert] but you can't take the Micky D's outta the girl .

leftofcentre · 23/03/2007 12:35

I think your all rude for not agreeing

Please don't get me started again. I don't care what you all eat.

I just personally hate mcd for many, many reasons and issues that to me are very serious, and I wish i knew others that agreed.

Fair enough if LOC wants to have a rant about MacD's, but why be rude and offensive about Mumsnetters with her ill-informed sweeping generalisations?

What a peculiar way to behave.

CODalmighty · 23/03/2007 12:38

nonce

foxybrown · 23/03/2007 12:38

But LOC, thats fine. I don't care what you think, so why should you care what I eat?

IntergalacticWalrus · 23/03/2007 12:43

eh eh eh, ccccccccalm down

expatinscotland · 23/03/2007 12:50

I'm going to a pub after work, too, for a drinky with my work colleagues.

To put me in the mood for some trash TV!

Katy44 · 23/03/2007 12:51

loc, I think the fact that your OP had three judgements on it on such different topics was the problem, you were bound to get everyone's back up with at least one - making it extremely unlikely they would back you up on either of the others.

Anyway, lost, has anyone else been put off to discover the writers don't even know what's going to happen? At the beginning I sort of assumed that everything had a meaning or purpose that would become clear, well that hasn't happened, and it would seem as though the writers are as much in the dark as I am! So I've gone off it a bit (as well as not having sky, which I have to admit is the main reason for not watching it )

lulumama · 23/03/2007 12:52

i love the milkshakes...you have to slurp sooo hard ,that you alter your brain waves !!

do so love the pickles..that is the best bit of a quarter pounder!

i think a lesson has been learnt , in how to phrase an OP so you don;t alienate everyone within a 5 mile radius .....

BigEggLittleEgg · 23/03/2007 12:55

Just remembering in my youth I used to drink two McDs milkshakes on way home after a night out on the beers etc and it stopped me getting a hangover the next day. Woohoo.

AnnabelCaramel · 23/03/2007 12:56

I love 'em - and my sis told me they are made of Smash!!!

exbury · 23/03/2007 12:56

LoC if you choose to live your life and raise your DC without ever consuming anything from McD's, Nestle, Nike, etc, etc and if you know and are happy about the ethical and enviromental implications of every single product and service you consume, good for you.

Similarly, if others choose to buy into the global corporate culture and raise their DC accordingly, good for them.

In both cases, it is possible to raise happy, healthy DC.

In either case, if you (or anyone else) choose to put their principals ahead of their DC's physical and emotional wellbeing, then I feel sorry for your DC. Short of actual cruelty, it is still clearly your right to do so, but I would feel for them, as is my right.

Also, I would suggest you are very very sure about the aforementioned implications of your lifestyle before you randomly pick on one aspect (McD's) of other people's lives.

exbury · 23/03/2007 12:57

that would be principles

expatinscotland · 23/03/2007 12:58

Before I knew I was pregnant, I went out on the lash on a works do and drank so much I was sick. My period wasn't due, so I drank to my heart's content.

Twinkie1 · 23/03/2007 12:58

I think loc worked for McDonalds and was sacked for sucking the tangy taste out of the pickles before putting them back on people's quarter pounder's - I think this dashedher dreams of becoming a floor assistant and clearing up other peoples leftovers - which she had a secret plan to keep them and take them home to feed her poor little children!!

Therefore she is now forever bitter and twisted and istrying to turn the world against the great hallowed golden arches under which we all salute to the yummy cheeseburger god!!

Please cat me your addresses - I will save my pickles unntil I have a reasonable amount and post them to you free of charge!!

octopussyinyummyeastereggs · 23/03/2007 13:00

Gosh I must be really thick then.

lulumama · 23/03/2007 13:01

LOL at posting the pickles !! they are really the best bit !!

BigEggLittleEgg · 23/03/2007 13:02

AnnabelCaramel - Smash?!?! Fab. Also in my youth I was v hungry after a night out and bought a pack of smash from the petrol station on way home. Ate whole packet (still dried) on bus home. Felt very very ill as it expanded in my tummy. Not recommended.

foxybrown · 23/03/2007 13:02

Didn't we all, expat??!!

twelveyeargap · 23/03/2007 13:03

Hysterical thread.

I watch Desperate Housewives, but I also listen to Radio 4. Does that make me a hypocrite? Or schizophrenic? Can Desp H/w tar me with the "trash" label to the point that nobody will notice, if I have a brain?

FWIW, I worked in McD's after leaving school and was promoted twice. No, not extra stars - cashcounter, then admin assistant. Later employers (when I was younger) loved me being able to talk about "teamwork" and all the other stuff the Golden Arches go for. I work in the City now. If I hadn't been given a chance (single teenage mother) by McD's, I might not be here. AND they have always fried in oil. Since 1996 anyway... Hydrogenated, clog-up-your-arteries stuff, but vegetable oil nonetheless. No idea what they use now...

Hmm. I've been wondering what to have for lunch. Hamburger and fries I reckon. Yum.

exbury · 23/03/2007 13:04

BigEggLittleEgg - uck! How did you swallow it?

Tinker · 23/03/2007 13:06
