Me and 2 friends are going for a weekend away, staying in quite a nice hotel.
We are driving down in friends car.
I packed a small suitcase (the smallest size ) and 15 mins ago she texts saying "can't bring a case, boot has alcohol in etc so we are taking a small hold-all...I said I haven't got one and we are leaving at 7 am in the morning.
She replied use carrier bags?????
I said no.
Why tell me this late when there's nothing I can do
Would you be annoyed ?

Why can´t you just take carrier bags?

user1498051868 · 30/06/2017 22:03

They've said not allowed a suitcSe and won't let me put it on the floor of back and friend won't let me put it at front ..
Basically it's carrier bags or nothing

They drink beer as they get ready so they are drunk before they go out ..
I'm not really a beer drinker so I've got my own wine in my case

Don't fancy walking in a nice hotel with tesco carrier bags if I'm honest

ALittleMop · 30/06/2017 22:04

they are thoughtless towards you, I get it
do you actually want to go?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 30/06/2017 22:05

3 cases of beer between 2 before going out?

You really need a better class of friends.

ALittleMop · 30/06/2017 22:05

can you not put it on floor under your feet and put up with squish

Why is she taking 3 crates of lager to a posh hotel?

NanooCov · 30/06/2017 22:06

Wait, you're sitting in the back crammed between two car seats with no kids in them? And you're not "allowed" to put case in footwell? Tell them to get to fuck and don't go. They're dicks.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 30/06/2017 22:06

Why on earth are you going away with two people you've so little in common with?
Just call your friend up, say you've changed your mind and stay at home, doesn't sound like it would be a massive loss to you.

StealthPolarBear · 30/06/2017 22:06

You travelled on the boot of the car??

pasturesgreen · 30/06/2017 22:06

I mean it kindly OP, but why on earth are you going away with these people? They don't sound much like friends.

Migraleve · 30/06/2017 22:07

Also can't work out why you are going

cheminotte · 30/06/2017 22:08

Don't go.

lougle · 30/06/2017 22:08

Why can't she take the seat out?

user1498051868 · 30/06/2017 22:10

I was literally in the boot of the car ..only 5 min journey but they found it hilarious.
I just feel like I get taken for a fool and tonight has been a prime example.
I don't exactly have a lot of friends so don't wasn't to loose the ones I do have.

If you want to pack serious amounts of alcohol in the car, load the crates into the rear footwells as it spreads the weight better and less likely to overload the rear axles. Then there will be plenty of room for your suitcase in the boot. #seriousboozecruiser :D

ChicRock · 30/06/2017 22:11

I'm sure the "quite nice hotel" are going to be thrilled at you all turning up with 3 crates of beer and your clothes in a carrier bag.

Ditch these friends who treat you like dirt, and find some new ones that don't sound like they're characters out of Shameless.

Mammylamb · 30/06/2017 22:11

Yanbu. These folk don't really sound like friends. Sorry

Chloe84 · 30/06/2017 22:12

Hmm, reading subsequent posts, it sounds like they are trying to belittle you.

Have you paid for the hotel? If not, tell them you're not going without your suitcase, or they can provide a holdall.

watchingitallagain · 30/06/2017 22:14

There's no way I would be rocking up with carrier bags!
I'd rather drive myself.

user1498051868 · 30/06/2017 22:15

maybe I'm too sensitive I don't know.
The hotel is paid in full yeah.
Only petrol money to pay for tomorrow.
I asked if they had a spare holdall and they said no but I've got loads of bags for life

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 30/06/2017 22:15

They don't sound very good friends.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 30/06/2017 22:15

If it is carrier bags or nothing, I'd go with nothing...as in not going on this break and yes, I would tell my friend exactly why I came to make this decision - give her something to mull over on the drive and during their stay.

Brittbugs80 · 30/06/2017 22:16

What car is it if two are sitting in the front?

Put the case in one of the car seats, or on the floor behind either of the front seats.

If she has said you are not allowed to bring a case, it has to be carrier bags then just say actually leave it, I'd rather stay at home.

They will continue to treat you like a mug for as long as you let them.

user1498051868 · 30/06/2017 22:18

I'm going to see if any neighbours have a holdall I can borrow.
Tbh it's just put me in a bad mood now and I'm not even looking forward to it.
I said (we agreed to pick me up at 9) now they are coming 1 1/2 hours earlier even tho I have things I needed to do..they just don't take my opinions into consideration
