I've seen loads of threads on here lately with people questioning how people can be a certain dress size at a certain weight.

I'm really interested to se how much it can vary from person to person and if people who are the same weight and height could be completely different dress sizes as I suppose muscle mass is a factor too.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

I'll start it off:

Height: 5ft 4.5
Weight: 8 stone 12 lbs
Dress Size: 10

Here in Brazil clothes size used to be European. Now makers are using GAP clothes sizes and the dreaded XS, S, M, etc

According to GAP I'm size 1!Confused

I found a weighing machine while sorting out the box room. I weigh 16 stone (5'8" and size 18).

Which according to bmi means I should be dead in account of my fatness or something... I can assure you I don't need to be winched out of my house, I walk everywhere and am still woman shaped... It's not fat it's muscle!!! Honest Confused

I've run the numbers on the first 6 pages of this brilliant data set, and here is the formula you've been looking for!
Your dress size is 9.5% of your weight in pounds, minus 2.6% of your height in cm, plus 1.8
The rms estimation error is 1.5, so you could be anywhere plus or minus 1.5 of the dress size you calculate.

JoeNLHN · 30/05/2019 06:25

For example, if you're 152 lb and 168 cm (5'6"), then your dress size is (152x9.5/100) - (168x2.6/100) + 1.8 = 11.872 or near enough 12.
Or anywhere between 10.5 and 13.5 in fact given the spread in the numbers.
Now get your calculator! :)

Had a baby last month so I don't know my clothes size anymore as my hip bones are wider and boobies big for the first time! Was 6-8 before baby.

Currently losing weight aiming for about 11 st 13 lbs.
I know I am quite heavy even when thin. My lowest adult weight has been 10 st aged 30 and I was really slightly more thin than I needed to be

Firef1y72 · 30/05/2019 09:06

Height : 5'2"
Weight :159lb (11st5lb but just finished marathon training/a bulk and cutting now)
Size : UK 10-12, small in H&M sportswear
Bodyfat : 20-21%

I started out at almost 21stone and as I lost the weight I added in weight training. So I have a lot more than average muscle mass. I can lift well over my own weight when deadlifting and squatting, am close to bodyweight benching. I run marathons have a VO2 max of 43 (which is apparently good for someone under half my age) and train 6 days a week.
