I've seen loads of threads on here lately with people questioning how people can be a certain dress size at a certain weight.

I'm really interested to se how much it can vary from person to person and if people who are the same weight and height could be completely different dress sizes as I suppose muscle mass is a factor too.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

I'll start it off:

Height: 5ft 4.5
Weight: 8 stone 12 lbs
Dress Size: 10

5 foot 3.5 inches.
9 stone 5
10 or 12 depending on shop. M&S 10 is what a 14 used to be when I were a gel, I reckon.

Groupie123 · 01/07/2017 16:42

@Bloodybridget- when were you a girl? All of my mum's size 12s from the 70s and 80s are too big for me, but her stuff from the 60s is too small. I'm a 12 now (10 in 40s vintage).

stevie69 · 01/07/2017 16:43

Hi, I'm:

5 feet 7 inches
8 st 12lbs
Size 8/10

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 01/07/2017 16:45

Fascinating. Some people are my height and 3-4 stone heavier and wear 2 dress sizes smaller than me! Food for thought. Probably it's a matter of taste (I can't stand clingy on myself) and where we put on weight. ( ie if my upper arms & belly weren't as big I guess I could wear smaller tops.)

WanderingTrolley1 · 01/07/2017 16:51

All about build, muscles, fat percentages.

6ft1
17st
Size 16/18/20 depending on shop or clothing. Could probably get a 14 that would fit my top half but have never been smaller than a 16 on my enormous arse bottom even when I only weighed 14st9lb

GreenHillsOfHome · 01/07/2017 17:05

5 foot 5
14stone 6
Size 16, mainly due to remaining round belly after ds3 was born...but I've been this weigh before and was a 14.

I'm definitely a good bit overweight now as I ploughed it on in pregnancy but I've always been heavy...at a size 10 I weigh about 10 stone which is what I'm aiming for.

Confusedandintrigued · 01/07/2017 17:16

Faez I'm same weight and 5'7 but size 10 would hang off me! Do you like clothes loose?

lumpit · 01/07/2017 17:32

I'm in my late thirties now and was always a 10 til a few years back, but these days unless I watch my portion size like a hawk and eat nothing I enjoy it's just not doable anymore.

robinia · 01/07/2017 17:38

Those last two posts just show how different people can be Shock.

For the record, I'm:

5'6
now 9st 10
size 10 mostly

Was:
5'6 (obviously!)
12st 6
size 14 mostly

KatharinaRosalie · 01/07/2017 17:42

Um no, I don't squeeze myself into 2 sizes smaller clothes. Muscle makes the difference - I lost a dress size with exercise without changing my weight

66kgs (10st 3lbs)
5' 8" and a bit
51 y/o

Size 12 jeans (when I was 63kgs could fit a 10)

Broad shoulders mean I often need a 12 or 14 top even though it's then too wide on the body although sizes vary so much now I can even be a Small sometimes which is ridiculous.

Weight definitely distributes itself differently now I'm older. No bum but extra weight (3kgs I want to lose again!) is definitely on the belly.

SparklyGlitterPants · 01/07/2017 18:17

Height 4'11
Weight 12 stone
Size 16 (18 sometimes depending on cut over chest area).

Up until I had dc no4 4.5 years I was a size 10. Overhang from emergency section put me into a 12 for comfort. Tubal ligation 6 months later saw me pile on the weight (3 stone in less than 6 months) despite breastfeeding and a healthy eating habits which I just can not get rid of, no matter what I try. I'm 36 now so pretty sure that I am stuck with it.

Oh and its all on the belly area, well from section overhang up to just under the boobs. No extra weight anywhere else.

When I was in my early 20's, I was

10ish stone and a size 10. I'm just under 5ft3. I remember my ribcage was 28 inches. (Don't ask me how I remember that)

I'm a bit embarassed to say what I am now Blush

Height-6 feet
Weight-13 stone 5 lb ( the healthy weight range for my height is 9st 7lb-13 st 3lb, so quite a big range).
Size 16 top & size 14 bottom.
Very skinny long arms & legs, no bottom at all but unfortunately fat tummy & fairly big bust.
