So out of a family of 4 we have various versions of this.

AIBU to think I am right?

Me: 2 rashers of bacon, a sausage, a potato cake, fried egg, grilled tomato and mushrooms.

DH: 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, slice of black pudding, 2 potato cakes, scrambled eggs, beans

DSD: 2 potatoes cakes, poached egg, bacon and beans

DS: toast, beans, scrambled eggs, 3 potato cakes and 2 sausages

Over to the MN jury...which breakfast would you have?

My fave

2 fried eggs in salted butter
1 slice Stornaway black pudding
1 Sausage
2 crispy bacon
Creamed spinach

SabineUndine · 02/07/2017 09:52

Oh poloney! I have not eaten that since I was about 5!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/07/2017 09:58

1 fried egg
2 rashers of bacon
1 nice sausage
black pudding
2 hashbrowns
mushrooms.

maplepixie · 02/07/2017 09:59

2 bacon, 2 sausages, beans, potato waffle, hash brown, mushrooms, 1 of whatever egg I'm fancying and a round of toast

Crumblevision · 02/07/2017 10:01

2 x Ayrshire bacon
2 x square sausage
2 x tattie scone
Huge pile mushrooms
Halved grilled tomato
Tiny bit of black pudding

Side of hot buttered white toast and jam
Never ending tea

My Mum is Scottish (I'm English) and as far as I am concerned Scottish breakfasts rule.

PovertyJetset · 02/07/2017 10:13

Slow roasted tomatoes
Smoked back bacon
Avocado
Sourdough toast with black currant jam
Poached eggs
Fizzy water with some cloudy AJ in it
Earl grey tea
Newspapers.

PovertyJetset · 02/07/2017 10:16

But if I'm at my mums it's a soft white rolll with
Tattie scone,
Slice
Fried egg with the yoke slightly broken
HP sauce

But I very very rarely allow myself such artery clogging deliciousness!

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 02/07/2017 10:30

2 bacon
1 sausage (2 if they're small or I'm ravenous)
2 fried egg (soft yolk)
mushrooms
fried tomatoes
beans
1 black pudding
white buttered toast
bottomless mug of tea
orange juice

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 02/07/2017 10:32

ooh, and ketchup, and all liberally sprinkled with black pepper.

Want one now, won't get one though Grin

BeeFarseer · 02/07/2017 10:44

Potato cakes are food of the gods.

My perfect breakfast is:

Potato cake x 1.
Couple of tablespoons of scrambled egg.
Grilled tomato halves x 3.
A metric fuckton of buttery mushrooms.
Sausages x 2 OR 1 sausage and 1 crisped to fuck bacon rasher.
Tablespoon or so of baked beans.
Black pepper over everything except the potato cake.

Served with coffee.

MrsPoldark · 02/07/2017 15:30

On plan at Slimming World I'd have:
1 slimming world sausage
2 eggs scrambled
2 slices grilled bacon
Grilled mushrooms
Beans
On a non-SW day
Replace SW sausage with Lorne sausage & black pudding, replace beans with 2 tattie scones. Add 2 slices buttered toast.

BroomstickOfLove · 02/07/2017 15:38

2-4 rashers of bacon.
1-2 fried eggs
Optional sausage/black pudding
Soda bread
2 farls of potato bread
Mushrooms.
Optional tomatoes.

Minimalist version: bacon, egg, potato bread.

yawning801 · 02/07/2017 15:53

I'd have yours minus the mushrooms I think.

The B&B we stay in when we go away in the summer does the best breakfasts! Their fried bread is TOTALLY YUM!

WritingHome · 02/07/2017 15:58

I am not in Britain and our favourite version of cooked breakfast includes:

Grilled sausages
Grilled smoked bacon
Grilled black and white pudding
hash browns
beans
eggs fried in salted butter, soft yolks
hot buttery toasted white bread
baked beans
optional sauteed mushrooms

In fact we had that today (minus the beans and mushrooms as we didn't have any in today) It was delicious and there were clean plates all round. Large mugs of tea and chocolate biscuits afterwards!

CrowyMcCrowFace · 02/07/2017 16:05

We're in Forn Parts so have to get our bacon & sausage from a dodgy contact who delivers it on a motorbike in plain packaging. It's not actually illegal or anything, it's just that the population here is over 90% Muslim. So expat families club together to put in an order with the Pig Biker.

So full English is a rare treat.

Mine is:

Bacon
No sausage - Pig Bike does salami etc but hasn't managed proper bangers yet
Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Fried slice
Fried egg (yolk only. Egg white is disgusting & reserved for the cat).
HP if anyone has remembered to pick it up from the Ethnic Foods section of the posh supermarket. Beans, ditto.
Ketchup if no HP. Foul medames if no Heinz beans.

Fresh orange or mango juice (again, mango is a local adaptation, but goes really well with bacon, bizarrely).

Big mug of builder's tea.

n0ne · 02/07/2017 19:12

2x bacon
1 sausage (pref Lincolnshire)
1 fried egg
Mushrooms
1x slice black pudding
Beans
2x toast, white or brown, proper butter (1 piece bread cut diagonally into 2 triangles)
Brown sauce
Mug of builder's tea, no sugar

n0ne · 02/07/2017 19:16

I forgot the bubble!!! Bubble and squeak, preferably made from roast leftovers (roast spuds and sprouts, swede elevates it to food of the gods)

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 02/07/2017 22:02

Never tried a potato cake. I'm English and I like:

2 x Bacon
2 x Sausage
2 x Fried egg
Sometimes beans, sometimes not
Hot buttered toast or hash browns

Copious amounts of tea

WhiskyChick · 02/07/2017 22:04

Between you and DH but with toast. And throw the grilled tomato in the bin. Love a brilliant breakfast

MummymcMawface · 02/07/2017 22:25

My Full Scottish:
2 bits of Bacon (preferably Ayrshire bacon)*
1 x Square (Lorne) sausage
1 x good quality butchers "links" sausage
Black pudding
Fried tomato
Tattie scone
2 hash browns
Beans
2 slice of toast

  • I make a bacon buttie with the toast and bacon

Preferably with coffee and fresh orange.
Magic!

BananaThePoet · 03/07/2017 06:31

2 local eggs (fried or poached or scrambled)
2 rashers of grilled back bacon.
A grilled tomato
Grilled mushrooms
Penclawdd Laver bread (Welsh seaweed delicacy)
Slice of buttered toast
Pot of tea.

Littlelondoner · 03/07/2017 13:16

If I am doing a fry up. It is such a rare treat. Calories and fat worries go out the window.

Potato farl
Hashbrowns
Beans
Sausages
Black pudding. (Polish black pudding is the best thing ever!)
Mushrooms.
Fried baby toms.
Poached egg (with no runny yolk!)

With lots of brown sauce and cracked black pepper.

I probally wouldn't eat...or move for the rest of the day either.
