The ultimate British breakfast

So out of a family of 4 we have various versions of this.

AIBU to think I am right?

Me: 2 rashers of bacon, a sausage, a potato cake, fried egg, grilled tomato and mushrooms.

DH: 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, slice of black pudding, 2 potato cakes, scrambled eggs, beans

DSD: 2 potatoes cakes, poached egg, bacon and beans

DS: toast, beans, scrambled eggs, 3 potato cakes and 2 sausages

Over to the MN jury...which breakfast would you have?

Bacon x2; sausage x 1; eggs (fried or scrambled), baked beans, hash brown or potato cake plus toast. Oh and apple juice.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 28/06/2017 21:10

2x bacon
2x fried egg
1x black pudding
A few beans
Half grilled tomatoes
Loads of mushrooms fried in butter
2x white bread toast with butter

DarthMaiden · 28/06/2017 21:12

I've already been called to account - and probably rightly so.

DH is a scot, hence the potato cakes which have become such a "staple" I've done a culinary appropriation into an "English" breakfast.

I should probably have titled the post the ultimate Anglo/Scot breakfast!!!

Sliced sausage, fried egg, tattie scone, two rashers of bacon, haggis, black pudding, beans and toast smeared with salty butter.

And the biggest mug of tea you've ever seen.

tigercub50 · 28/06/2017 21:13

Now I want cooked breakfast! I know lots of places don't do fried bread & I love it if it's done right. So fried bread, smoked bacon, 1 sausage, fried egg, half a fried tomato, baked beans, buttered white toast ( usually I have wholemeal but love white with the full English). Maybe hash browns but I'm a bit of a lightweight! And HP sauce

tigercub50 · 28/06/2017 21:13

Oh & mushrooms

DarthMaiden · 28/06/2017 21:15

Oh yes - I forgot the drinks.

The kids like fresh orange juice.

DH wants coffee but for me I need a big pot of tea from which to repeatedly fill my tea cup Grin

dementedma · 28/06/2017 21:15

Bacon, sausage, fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans. Toast and butter. Decent coffee.

Onhold · 28/06/2017 21:16

Has to be tea.

PolaDeVeboise · 28/06/2017 21:21

2 x bacon (has to be smoked)
1 x sausage
1 x fried egg
1 x Stornoway black pudding
well cooked mushrooms in butter
tattie scone OR fried bread
NO BEANS!
with strong tea

I'm 100% Scottish - can you tell?

mumonashoestring · 28/06/2017 21:22

Bacon, sausage (occasionally kabanossi), fried slice, fried or poached eggs, mushrooms, black pudding - no beans, grilled or plum tomatoes - and a slice or two of toast with strawberry jam to follow, all served with good strong tea. Preferably from a cafe so I don't have to clear up all the greasy gubbins Grin

Tartyflette · 28/06/2017 21:28

Puh-lease - NO baked beans at breakfast - they swamp everything with their oversweet gloppy-- sauce.
(They're OK on thick buttered toast for high tea though.)
My ideal Full Breakfast (English/Scottish/Irish/whatever) contains
1 or 2 eggs, fried or poached properly
2 rashers of dry-cured back bacon, rind on
1 decent butcher's style or premium sausage
Couple of slices of black or white pudding
Fried or grilled tomato, both halves, and cooked through not just heated up a bit
Optional extras -- fried mushrooms, sauté potatoes and/or fried bread.

Tartyflette · 28/06/2017 21:29

Strike-through fail, should have been confined to 'gloppy'. Gah.

bertsdinner · 28/06/2017 21:30

2 bacon, 2 sausage, plum tomatoes (canned variety, in juice), fried egg and lots of toast. Any extras/variations such as hash browns or potato cakes are most welcome.
No black pudding though, cant stand it.

Guepe · 28/06/2017 21:32

Bacon
Sausages
Fried bread
Toast
Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Beans
Fried Eggs

(Not a fan of black pudding myself, but a legitimate option).

operaha · 28/06/2017 21:34

WHITE PUDDING!!!!!
ahem.

Plus veggie sausage, beans, fried egg, hash brown, fried bread.

Brown sauce.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 28/06/2017 21:35

I would struggle to eat it all BUT for me it would be,

Fried egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, hash brown.

Plus orange juice and a huge mug of tea.

Beanjean · 28/06/2017 21:35

I'd forgotten about potato cakes! Mine would be:

1 egg
2 bacon
1 sausage
2 hash browns
Beans
Mushrooms
Toast

Fried tomatoes are hideous and black pudding is a rare but welcome addition

WomblingThree · 28/06/2017 21:36

2 fat Quorn sausages
2 poached eggs
2 bits of fried bread
Lots of well done mushrooms

Beanjean · 28/06/2017 21:36

Oh god fried bread! I love it but never make it myself

queenofthedump · 28/06/2017 21:36

2 rashers of bacon
2 sausages
2 hash browns
Fried egg
Baked beans
Fried mushrooms
French toast
Lashings of ketchup

ImTakingTheEssence · 28/06/2017 21:37

Is potato cake a hash brown?? .. I dunno
Anyway.
Bacon x3 maybe
Sausages x2
Fried egg
Beans
Mushrooms
Plum Tomatoes
Lots of toast
Fried bread/ black pudding at a push

SabineUndine · 28/06/2017 21:37

Orange juice or fruit first
3 rashers smoked bacon
one poached egg (I don't like the crispy white on fried)
grilled mushrooms
grilled tomatoes
1 sausage
lashings of toast and apricot jam (hate marmalade)
Much coffee

DarthMaiden · 28/06/2017 21:37

Tarty I'm 100% with you on baked beans - hence the omission from my perfect cooked breakfast.

I think their flavour swamps everything else.

I realise though I've also forgotten to add sauce to the debate.

For me it's HP all the way. To be fair the rest of the family don't have any sauce (I think that's the baked beans impact).

OP posts:
frumpety · 28/06/2017 21:38

2 x rasher of bacon
2 x sausages
2 x black pudding
2 x fried egg
mushrooms
Beans
brown sauce of course
