We live in a close of four houses on side of the road- it's literally our road and then the houses on the right hand side. Driveways can take 2 cars in all 4 houses.

Neighbour knocked earlier today to say they are going on holiday until Friday. Neglected to mention that family were coming and leaving their cars here.

Anyway one of these said cars is blocking DHs car in. We cannot get it out without me reversing mine, clearing some junk out of the garage so he can drive in to reverse sideways into my space and out.

Garage is full of shit. It's stuff we can't store in the house because it's damp etc.

AIBU to consider hiring a tow truck to get the car moved?? I'm going to have to take DH to work for 6am now Angry

as OPs car is quite small (fiat 500) I'm guessing her DHs car is bigger and therefore can't manoeuvre in the same way as hers, so needs the extra room that would be created by emptying the garage.

Smilingthru · 29/06/2017 18:54

Place marking! Love a good parking thread!!!

Redsippycup · 29/06/2017 18:56

HiggeldyPiggeldy · 29/06/2017 19:05

ring 101 again or council parking people to get it towed, who does something like that absolute knob heads

Crashbangwhatausername · 29/06/2017 19:07

If they can park on the street, can your dh not also park on the street, then make them very aware of the inconvenience when they return to their car with dog shit smeared under the handles

DereksGotATail · 29/06/2017 19:12

The police won't attend but they could try to assist by contacting the PNC keeper on your behalf and asking them to move the vehicle.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 29/06/2017 19:16

A brick would be going through one of those windows

Sorry neighbour, didn't see anything at all, isn't it terrible

Not really but I'd be bloody tempted

Doofletch · 29/06/2017 19:18

Well?????????????????

jazmin2016 · 29/06/2017 19:19

I would literally be seething with rage , how rude and disrespectful !!!

MrsHathaway · 29/06/2017 19:20

Ditto Red though with rogue car slightly further to the left so it slightly overlaps with Fiat which iirc had to be manoeuvred out carefully rather than just driven out.

Good drawing.

*Call the police again and again.

Say there is a very strange smell coming from the car................*

...and mention that you haven't seen your neighbours for a while. Grin

Redsippycup · 29/06/2017 19:28

Why thank you MrsHathaway

trulybadlydeeply · 29/06/2017 19:29

How infuriating op, I hope the police have been hrlpful.

Redsippycup Can we have you on standby for all parking threads please, I
can never visualise things in my head!

HappyFlappy · 29/06/2017 19:32

Thank you Red. I can sleep at night now I've seen a diagram.

OP - is there a dropped kerb to your drive?

If there is, isn't it illegal to park across a dropped kerb?

mumof3boys33 · 29/06/2017 19:54

I can't believe I scrolled all the way through to see what happened in the end....

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 29/06/2017 20:04

I'm so disappointed there isn't an update!

OnTheRise · 29/06/2017 20:09

I am surprised the police haven't intervened by now.

The diagram is a big help. I hope the OP returns and provides her own.

We could ALL add diagrams while we're waiting. That might help.

valeview · 29/06/2017 20:11

''until Friday''? so 2 days then? ''hire a tow truck''??? really?? Yes YABU, even though your neighbour was being thoughtless, or actually maybe just a member of her family?? So say you hire a tow, drag the thing away, be able to use your car in the usual way for 2 whole days, then when the neighbour returns, you hand them the bill. Bad feeling all round for the duration of your life at that address...... OR... put up with some inconvenience (the story about storage and damp etc is obviously you trying to make this a far bigger inconvenience than is the case) and tell the neighbour you hadn't expected someone to block in someones car, and leave it at that.

Cainabel · 29/06/2017 20:16

Blimey and I thought the fairer sex were less prone to vulgar language. How wrong can one be.

Redsippycup · 29/06/2017 20:17

truly is that a requirement of the badge?!

I do like OnTheRise 's idea of multiple diagrams for the OP to come back to Grin

Redsippycup · 29/06/2017 20:21

You must be new Cain! Buckle up - all kinds of misconceptions are about to be destroyed...

I always love the people on this threads who say the police will do something. They don't

A car parked over my drive (proper dropped kerb drive with grass borders etcsince 1904).

I couldnt get my car off. I called the police. They said as it was Polish they couldnt trace it via DVLC and an international trace was expensive and would take time (i.e. they wouldnt do it) .

They said why didn't I knock on every door to see whose it was (lots of flat on our rad but also close to a town centre so probably not even staying on our road) . They said if I tried to move it and damaged it them the owner could take action against me.

ohfourfoxache · 29/06/2017 20:53

Oh for the love of god, I thought there would be an update by now Sad

Dibbles1967 · 29/06/2017 20:55

No update?! I need to know!!

EXCELLENT diagram!
